Having given her a few viewings, I agree. Hosting/co-hosting quiz/game shows is a definite talent that not everyone possesses. She also, at times, comes across as a bit too fangirlish. Plus, she can't read an autocue/laptop without it sounding like shes reading, and demonstrates lack of preparation with her delivery (see also Ann Robinson) such that it comes across stilted and full of mispronunciations. (e,g. Jean Dujardin pronounced as in Harlow, rather than Luc Godard).

....but apart from that all ok?

  3. Huw Pill, the BOE Chief Economist, has stated that 'Over the course of the past week, there has be a significant repricing of financial assets. Part of that re-pricing reflects broader global developments. Part of it reflects the ongoing normalisation of macroeconomic policy after the pandemic-induced episode of exceptional ease. But there is undoubtedly a UK-specific component'.

'As the Governor said in his statement on Monday afternoon, we are monitoring financial markets developments – and, in particular, that UK-specific component – very closely'.

    Nowt more to say.

  4. So, let's look at where we are, apart from fucked.

The Prime Minister and Chancellor are finished. The two remaining options are another change of Tory leader & cabinet reshuffle or a general election.

Two issues spring to mind, here. The '... moving of the deck chairs on the Titanic' will be attributed to another Tory leadership election and, with an election, the money markets, generally distrusting of anything Labour and socialism, are not going to be having celebratory wanks over a red landslide.

So, it looks like we are royally fucked on all fronts.

    We are doomed!

    Just sayin, like.

  6. Was it Wilson who said  'A week is a long time in Politics' or summat?

Sir Keith has gone from that gormless looking twat who you hope doesn't come and sit next you on the bus you are on to a man running around like an amorous dog with two dicks.

He actually believes that this his his moment, he is the Political porn star with a full nut sack, ready to unload.

Now if he could keep Abbott, Rayner etc and the like away from the action, well... ..

  7. It is beyond satire.

It is as if they have done it all on purpose, like, they COULD have bought out a tax cutting budget with all the provisos for paying the shit tons of money they would be borrowing back but..nah.

I've not seen a Government in my life time so intent on committing political and economic suicide to the point where you are imploring the cabinet to be sectioned for their and our protection.

As an aside, I am curious to know how all of those Corbyn devotees are reacting to all of this.

He did, at the last election, promise the fucking earth, had no plan on how to pay the borrowed money back but was feted as some sort of messiah.

Well, now we know what would have happened had he got in!

Who would have thought it, Sir Keith, out to rescue us all.:D

Looking at these figures and not seeing a rise in the votes for the smaller parties suggest to me that this really is a case of people realising that to get rid of the Tories a Labour government is the only practical alternative. However local polling particularly in places where the LDs are in second place could reveal different results

This bears out what I have been saying for a while now.

You either pile in on Labour candidates at the next election or you just don't bother.

You cannot vote tactically or we could end up with a bigger shit show because the election ends up with no party with an overall majority.

We need one party, one set of policies and no fucking about.

Quite staggering to think that Labour handed the last election to the Tories on a plate because of Corbyn and the Tories are now, probably, going to hand the election to Labour because of Truss.

They would have had a better chance if they had kept Johnson!

Fucking hell, the last few years have been stinkingly wank in the political and societal  sense.

So, just me maybe but...I think the sense in the current nonesense is hidden in plain sight. Politico's poll of polls has seen the Tories maintaining something like a ten point deficit to Labour for months. The new cabinet knew they couldn't keep on Johnson's policies and hope to turn that around so the gamble is that they get the brief hike in economic circumstances that Ted Heath got with a similarly radical budget fifty years ago, use that window to go for an election or simply duck it, get voted out and leave a mess so chaotic no incoming government can hope to look competent and - therefore - loses after one term.

Well, Labour is on a sure vote winner by declaring that they would scrap all the perks that the high earners would gain from the tax cuts, to wit, stop them from becoming even richer.

Nobody would argue with that, right?

Then they go and play the national anthem at the conference and, again, nobody ( well some) would argue with that.

Ahead of the conference a fringe meeting is taking place with the Labour republican group who state that 'the national anthem does not "marry" with the party's values' or summat.

It's almost like nobody lined the streets or watched the TV when Queenie was being given her last farewell.

A political party that has the innate ability to fire a fully loaded 12 bore through its own feet.....

I haven't seen the rumours so can't comment as to their veracity but what I would say is twofold:

    1. Would the time to launch a coup not have been when he was out of the country recently for the first time in about 3 years? Or has that been the catalyst and now he's back it's leaping into action?

    2. What would be the reason for the coup? Is Xi not hellbent on restoring Chinese national pride, bringing Hong Kong under Beijing's thumb, increasing the rhetoric around Taiwan? Or are ordinary Chinese (or at least the military) actually as concerned as the rest of us about the implications of war in the Taiwan Strait? One to watch perhaps. I thought he'd recently made himself all-powerful at the last Communist Party general assembly?

He has actually made sure that the heads of all the armed forces have been placed there by his own fair hands,

He is no fool BUT there could be a point where heads of said armed forces have seen the debacle in Ukraine and may not feel overly hungry for any action.

Could that be the trigger for them to take control?

    I hope so.

I believe she was an original Russ Meyer 'starlet'.

I also believe that she did, at one stage, have breast cancer.

I believe the above is correct but it might not be as it all came out the top of me 'ead.

Twitter is full of unsubstantiated rumours about flights and trains being suddenly cancelled across China and that Xi Jinping has been placed under house arrest following a military coup.

All seems to be coming from Indian sources with no journalistic confirmation.

There have been rumours about a military take over for a few days now.

The issue is it is not being replenished, as Rishi said there will be inflation, and there is no promise of growth’, she does not have the experience and is clueless. It may be a short journey before realisation that the proverbial shit has hit the fan. Her Peter Principal cabinet is leading the way, clueless Smog and Kwarteng on some happy juice are not the professional government that is required.

    We already have inflation.

    We are already in recession.

Aside from that, there are only two ways out of the shit, higher taxes or higher borrowing.

Any Political party in power would be confronted with the same issues.

Windfall taxes? Would not touch the sides, and the profits earned by certain companies have been made globally, not just in the UK.

Even if we invoked it, we would still have to borrow.

Labour would have to borrow, Lib Dems would have to borrow and the SNP have had the begging bowl out demanding more money from Westminster.

Truss is taking a massive gamble, allow people to keep more of their money and they might start spending. If they start spending then retail MAY start to perk up, manufacturing MAY be able to up production, blah, de blah.

Business have two fundamental ways of expanding, plough profits back into the business to grow it to make more profit or borrow the money/bring investment into the business to grow it, make a profit, pay back the debt, with interest and go forwards from there keeping all the profit.

That is a simplistic argument for Truss to borrow more, invest it and hope that what she is investing in, us, will kick start the economy by spending it.

Aside from that, lower taxes may bring in investment from outside the country and may spark investment from industry within.

It's a massive gamble but, fucking hell, nobody has got all the answers to this one, we are heading into a global recession, Europe is in the shit and there is no easy way out, no matter who is in full charge.

Define 'professional government' as I had no idea that we had anybody, from any side of the house, that is 'professional.

She reminds me of one of the original lottery winners, Spend Spend Spend, clueless of the consequences and no responsibility. Unfortunately she has the stature of a puppet and acts like one, no memory no plans pulled by other peoples strings. Destined to lose the election recycling the old note “All of the money has gone”

It's already gone, it's why they are borrowing multiple billions.

Not really, not if the same spacing is adhered to.  Unless one was added at the top, but that would be silly.

Yeah but they can always jump up and down on them to push them down a bit further to make more space, like you do with bins, eh.

I noticed more people walking, cycling and driving past my front window than when Diana had her funeral. Make of that what you will. Also, what about those parts of the World that don't have electricity, let alone a working TV or radio?

My best estimate is that 19,441,008 people in the UK tuned in yesterday and 33,186,995 cups of tea were made. Don't shoot me as, I admit, my level of accuracy isn't quite what it was.

Anybody got a gun I can borrow?

Those figures are way off. It didn’t even get 30 million in the Uk. It won’t get anywhere near that even if you say those who saw 30 seconds on the news watched it.
