Couldn't agree more, the motherfuckers. Hangin's too good for 'em!!! yeah it doesnt take much to lift your hand up for 1 second does it. i even find myself waving thanks to people who have stopped at traffic lights... but maybe im just too nice... The practice of waving "thank you" has another side which worries me somewhat. I have often seen small (or not so small) children using pedestrian crossings waving to drivers as they pull up. It's obvious that these kids think they are stopping the traffic as they step confidently out in front of it! Such belief in their own power is probably inappropriate and dangerous in these days of multi-national* drivers (in London, anyway) who don't always know or respect the British Highway Code. *For example, stopping to let people cross at a white stripey crossing in France attracts looks of utter amazement from the pedestrians and some irritation from other drivers.

I trust you already have your DL mug and T-shirt, etc ! Perhaps we could persuade GR to include a teddy bear if there's sufficient demand.

Four in that sentence. Or perhaps five! More here. Offers?

    Derek Bond

I remember Derek Bond as one of the first members of the 'Tonight' team with Cliff Michelmore and Fyfe Robertson in the mid-50s. He soon decided that his career would flourish better elsewhere. Born 26th January 1920, so presumably is ageing appropriately somewhere! Does anyone else remember him?

I think this is the link you are all looking for! You might also find it here.

    Barbara Kelly

She was intended as my unique pick for The CPDPCPDP thingy which I forgot to enter. I thought she might last another year so didn't pick her for any other DPs unfortunately. When I asked friends and colleagues about her, with a view to determining her famousness, very few knew much about her even when prompted but she has achieved a BBC write-up, none the less.

Fascinating link, Lady Die! Hanging, beheading, shooting, electrocution, lethal injection, gassing, burning at the stake, etc, all of which I didn't want to know about but just had to read! Hanging turns out to be quite civilised compared to what can happen with other methods of execution, if execution can ever be described as civilised!

    Pete Doherty

Thank you for that information Ize. I didn't find much in Frenchdogblues.com (it's not that easy to get in to the site) but you made some useful suggestions. As for his being not likely to die, he has certainly shown himself as a survivor - so far. From the reports we see and hear, he seems more likely than most to be the victim of some sort of accident, possibly dangerous enough to be fatal.

Amazing! I've found something to post on the Football thread !

    Stephen Hawking

What I will say you're a rude, arrogant character. You've go to earn respect, and I've cetainly got none for you or your opinions. All I did was diss Hawking who (IMHO - if I'm allowed to have one) is a charlatan. I didn't attack you - learn some manners! Jack In answer to your question, please see the post quoted above. You state that you didn't attack Hein and then did just that! I hope that clarifies my previous post. (Please accept my apologies for previously highlighting the wrong bit.) At this rate, Hell is going to be quite a party! OK - where's the "Cancel Membership" Button? Get a grip Oatsie, Hein said "What you write, however, is drivel now" - this was needlessly obnoxious. I responded by saying that I thought this was rude and arrogant of him and he should get some manners. I aren't a sponge prepared to soak-up abuse from bullying and abusive moderators. What I say about my opinion of Hawking is not aimed at any member of this forum and I stand by my opinion of him and his theories. How would you feel if someone told you you talked drivel when you were expressing your honest opinion, albeit attempting to add a little humour to it? If I wanted a deep discussion I'd have done it in the Quantum Theory Forum and used a different style. I'm sorry I couldn't get on with people in this forum but there's obviously a closed-shop here and the feelings of dislike is mutual. Now where's that button....? Heinous - if you're there (I'm sure you are) please cancel my membership. Jack Like I said, you have to be able to take the flack. Hein thinks it was drivel, that's his opinion which he expressed just as you expressed yours. There is no cancel button. You may come and go as you please, as no-one has banned you. The choice is yours. Why not hang about and meet some more of the members? There are some whom you might actually like! Faililng that, see you in Hell as previously arranged.

    Kylie Die-ly ? Minogue Morgue-Go ?

Here is the BBC link BTW, it says that she pulled out of her Manchester gig due to the 'flu', so it does not sound like anything of great concern. That's good news - last night when I posted it didn't say anything about flu, just 'illness'. I sympathise with her - my throat is raw and my face is full of snot today too. What? This is the DeathList Forum! I hope you feel better* soon LB *unless you are a celebrity in disguise!

    Stephen Hawking

Maybe, maybe not, but going by your own 'logic' the same applies to yourself and Hawking also! What I will say you're a rude, arrogant character. You've go to earn respect, and I've cetainly got none for you or your opinions. All I did was diss Hawking who (IMHO - if I'm allowed to have one) is a charlatan. I didn't attack you - learn some manners! Jack Welcome to the forum, Necro jack. I'm sure that we all hope you will find a niche here, but you must be prepared to take the flack particularly when you hand it out! What Hein said about you was only equivalent to what you had said about Dr Hawking and now you have done just what you claimed not to have done - attacked MH for no good reason. I'm sure that you'll discover, in time, that MH is respected as a clear thinker with reasoned and honest opinions. He has earned that respect. There are many other well respected forum members, some of whom are 'old-timers' and others who are impressive in a very few posts and/or comparatively tender years. It takes all sorts... you'll probably find them here. Just a word of advice: don't go trashing the Admins, no-one is impressed by that!

    Pete Doherty

I have listened to the bands you mention: The Libertines sounds almost as if it has potential to be a half decent band but I can't work out what musical contribution was made by Pete Doherty. His most remarkable feat was retaining the loyalty of the other band members for as long as he did before they eventually slung him out. His real function seems to be as a "bad boy" figure to keep the fans off the streets and make money for whoever profits from from the ticket sales. You describe him as 'pure legend'; you might well be right!

    Cliff Michelmore

he is very fine thanks. i am currently dating his grand daughter and he is in good health. How are his internet studies coming along? We would love to have him as a forum member, he would be made most welcome.

    Pete Doherty

Er... yes. I agree completely with what you are trying to say. Before the pedants intervene, I find more resemblance to clearly written English in the paragraph quoted above that I have found resemblance to music in anything from Pete Doherty. So what's going on? More importantly, why is it happening?

    Pete Doherty

In a fruitless attempt to find something positive, preferably musical, about Mr Doherty I found this. Now if that had happened to be Pete singing, then I would have been impressed.... They don't seem to make them like that any more.

    Myspace

I don't. I am over 12 years old. Indeed, you are also nearly 50. And that's an excellent age to explore the mixed delights of MySpace, if it isn't firewalled at work.

I'm sorry to see the old guy go but very pleased to pick up some points on DDP, poolofdeath and a very few points on Hartlepool.
