Talking about Dutch celebs how's Teddy Scholten these days? She must be about 80 now. Not sure they'd get a UK obit, though she might do as she pipped Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson to the post and won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1959 (still one of the UK's most famous entries even after 47 years!) Got some ideas. Previously mentioned Rudi Carell other names: Rijk de Gooyer. Actor, and well in his eighties. Johnny Kraaykamp Sr. See Rijk. Used to be his comic partner on stage. Florrie Rost van Tonningen. Nazi widow. Can't miss her. Well into her 90's. Dries van Agt. Former prime minister.

Last week German producer, songwriter, singer Drafi Deutscher died. Unknown to the rest of the world but quite famous in Germany and mildly famous in the rest of the Europe. Best known for a sixties track "Marmor, Stein und Eisen bricht". Brief comeback in the eigties with "You Want Love", in a duo called Mixed emotions. Guess he was desperate to make it in the music business.... looking at the long list of aliases. Trial and mostly error?

I wonder if he was trying out anything he learned on the set of the film The Darwin Awards?? Strange, but could be true. His death was ruled an accident.

To you Mr. Whitehouse, I say the above, which came after the quote you had me on. So to that, a big fat I'm off this thing for one day and someone goes and dies on me Well.... To keep it in style: "And F**k you too!"

Off-topic: And yes, I am registered. Just forgot to log in... Realized by the way that today also marks the 36th anniversary of the first steps on the moon. Okay, that was not as far as the Enterprise got to go but stil a pinnacle moment in man's space history. Dare I say, A fitting day for him to die??

Another obit. And since those obituaries tend to disappear after a few days, here's the complete text. I hate that when I browse old threads and all hyperlinks are dead... (pun intended).

Let me add some sense to this thread. Here's a, pretty recent, answer to that question raised by the topic starter. Answer: Three.

Well, That's a close one to the equally gruesome death of Swedish F1 driver Ronnie Petterson. I'm from 1969 and this is one of my earliest memories of Formula one, seeing him baking in his car on the Monza circuit.
