On the money with that one - top marks BB. I've been having a surprisingly successful year. First I mentioned Jean Simmons in the 15 Js of death---- Jane/Jayyne/Joan/Jean_Etc. and now a luger. Not the one I expected; but, a luger none the less. Hmm....that seems strange calling a luge person a luger, might confuse people and make them think it's a dead gun. Then again the luge guy was a luger and not a Luger. I suppose the distinction would be upper case/lower case. At any rate, with 2 hits of some sort this year, I'm ahead of the DL Squadron (a small victory perhaps; but ,I'll take and cherish it anyway).

The late Tom "Billy Jack" Laughlin? A dead man? I'm sure that would be news to him. Perhaps you should contact him and let him know. I'm not contacting him! I saw his forceful footwork in those Billy Jack movies~~I could be injured! At any rate, that's twice this week I thought somebody was dead and they weren't. The same happened the other day with Ronnie Spector~~although, I fortunately didn't mention that one anywhere.

I personally think it's the cantankerous attitude of some (see the below exchange to a new poster from an old poster) which has silenced many. If a thread is made, there are those who launch attacks against both it and the poster. The same happens withing many threads when a person makes a post~~and I do not mean the comments which are made when a poster makes an error {as I did when sugggesting Michael Parks and then said Tom Laughlin was dead~~the response I received on that, although it may have been intended elsewise, was not perceived by me that way}. . It has led to a mass exodus of several posters who see no reason to post here. I had 4 full on attacks, and I have to be honest, it leaves me with little desire to stay around here or bother posting, knowing that the la-di-das are going to take another swipe. So as where death and the discussion of ailing and aging persons has not its sting lost, the desire to enter new information here, has, for me at least, has indeed ebbed. Just an idea, like. Do we need a thread called: 'Adoring visitors rant here if you must' Hmmm, mebbe not, eh?

Two bit sleaze actor Michael Parks. Parks, who was born as Harry Parks, Jr. is going to be 70 this year and death may come searching for him in response to his lousy 2007 film Death Proof or his otther 2007 snoozer, The Dead One. Perhaps best remembered as the cult leader in the 1974 classic, Can Ellen Be Saved, which also had John Saxon and Leslie Nielsen in the cast; Parks has a history of making low quality films and living just on the edge of both fame and poverty. At times considered America's answer to Tom Wilkinson, Parks does not attract as great a crowd and scares many with his resemblance to the late Tom "Billy Jack" Laughlin [really, do you want to look like a dead man?] In 1988, Parks was diagnosed with an undiagnosed disease, a mere 24 years after one of his 4 wives killed herself within days of their marrage (Jan Morriarity-married in 1964, she was dead March 2 of that year} sadly a few years later in 1968 his brother drowned in water. At one time Parks was asked to put on a uniform and play in the minors for The Pittsburgh Pirates, a National League baseball team, he refused, citing the lucrative career of upholstering caskets [yes, he did that for a living at one time] and speaking of caskets, he was a pall bearer for the late Lenny Bruce. Asiide from the kudos offered him by Quentin Tarantino, few have any idea who he is, nor even care. That said, I expect him to croak next year.

Is it me or does this make no sense at all. I'm pretty sure it's you. I find Wallach makes a great deal of sense. Oh, you meant Red Roster~~I'm more concerned by his needing to check each and every day on whether Wallach is alive~~and people think I'm obseessed.

Van Patten will never be trusted again! Saints win 31 to 17 over those pathetic Colts. The Colts had the lead, they even went into the 4th a point ahead and then it was over! As it began, I knew that the Saints had an edge. Never having been to the big game before, it meant more to them. The Colts, as was their way in the final games of regular play, were too full of confidence and didn't notice the signals all around that they were going to be defeated. Ah, a glorious game! -
Oh my, my oh my {remember that song by Slade?} it's been a while since I last partook of this thread although there have been instances aplenty which would have earned a visit and a post. Then today, I saw one which I could not let pass me by {remember that song? Pass me by if you're only passing through?}. Today I bring the sad case of Helen and Pericles who was more commonly known as Perry. It all began on November 1 of 2009 and ended less than three months later, our thoughts should now be extended to the children, Stella. Stemie and the other one who was named Connie. Pericles Thanasoulis Helen Thanasoulis November 1, 2009 Pericles (Perry) Thanasoulis, a lifelong Staten Islander who worked on his parents’ vegetable farm, owned a popular eatery in Port Richmond and raised champion homing pigeons, died of lung cancer in his Huguenot home yesterday. He was 80. Mr. Thanasoulis was born in New Springville to Kostas and Stamatia Thanasoulis, who immigrated to the borough from Greece seven years earlier. The couple owned the popular John and Gus’ Vegetable Farm on the site where the Staten Island Mall was built. Mrs. Thanasoulis was also a founding member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Bulls Head, where her son was a lifelong parishioner. A graduate of Port Richmond High School, Mr. Thanasoulis worked with his father on the farm until it was sold in 1963. He opened Perry’s Luncheonette with his wife, Helen, that same year. The restaurant became popular for its burgers and Perry and Helen’s gracious service behind the counter. It closed in 1973. Mr. Thanasoulis sold Electrolux vacuums, then worked for the Sisters of Charity, performing maintenance at the former St. Vincent’s Hospital in West Brighton, before retiring more than 20 years ago. In his leisure, Mr. Thanasoulis loved to spend time with his friends and family, particularly his grandchildren, Christina and Helena, and his dog, Sophie. But perhaps his greatest joy was racing homing pigeons. One of the founders of the Staten Island Pigeon Racing Club in Port Richmond, Mr. Thanasoulis raised and trained his pigeons — known as Perry’s Loft — from a coop behind his West Terrace home. One of his birds once beat more than 1,500 others in a 500-mile race from Pennsylvania to Huguenot. “He loved his family, friends, pigeons and his dogs. He was a huge animal lover with a heart of gold,” said his daughter, Connie Thanasoulis-Cerrachio. Besides Ms. Thanasoulis-Cerrachio, Mr. Thanasoulis is survived by Helen, his wife of 54 years; daughters Stemie Autore and Stella Thanasoulis; sister Heridea Garo; brother Thomas Thanasoulis and two grandchildren. Services will be from the Harmon Home for Funerals in Pleasant Plains. A mass will be held Thursday morning at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. and his wife Helen~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ January 31,2010 Helen Thanasoulis, 76, a longtime resident of Staten Island who had a warm personality, died yesterday at home in New Springville, after a battle with cancer. Born Helen Mondreas, she was raised in Lowell, Mass., and relocated to New Springville in her early 20s, following family. She met Perry Thanasoulis in 1953, and the two were married in 1955. In 1963, Mrs. Thanasoulis and her husband opened Perry’s Luncheonette, a restaurant in Port Richmond that became known for Perry’s burgers and Helen’s friendly service. When Perry’s Luncheonette closed in 1973, Mrs. Thanasoulis worked at Lucky Lotto in Tottenville until it closed in 2009. In her free time, Mrs. Thanasoulis enjoyed “cooking and playing cards with her good friend Ellie,” according to family. A longtime member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Bulls Head, she also took part in the church’s Greek Festival for some 30 years, and could often be found working the slovaki stand. “She was loved by so many people because she loved so many people,” said her daughter, Connie Cerrachio. “Helen loved her three daughters with all her heart, and especially her two granddaughters, Eleni and Christina.” Her husband of 54 years, Perry, died last year. In addition to her daughter, Connie, Mrs. Thanasoulis is survived by two other daughters, Stemie Autore and Stella Thanasoulis; a brother, Chris Mondreas; a sister, Mary Chrampanis, and two grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Harmon South Shore Home for Funerals, Pleasant Plains. A service will be held in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains

Deathlist Dreaming
BrunoBrimley replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Last night I had a dream but I've now forgotten what it was. Unlike that woman in a book by Amy Tan, I haven't been traned to captuure my dreams upon waking. It was a weird dream I remember that much. -
Just an idea, like. Do we need a thread called: 'Adoring visitors rant here if you must' Hmmm, mebbe not, eh? Tomb Raider is that you disguised as Maryport? Yeah, for the irate part of this topic, I'm getting a might bit annoyed with posters who criticize otheres making literary contributions to this site. {my above mention of Maryport and Tomb are seen {{by me}} as casual observations}.

Died on January 25th, two days after I made that post. We need more successful people like you around here. Come on, mention another name so we can watch her drop too

Oh well pardon me for not getting your approval first you miserable sack of sock lint. So my topic wasn't up to par for you? Just how many topics have you bothered trying to create? 2 from what your profile shows. I made a topic, I targeted a specific set of names in my own round-about way of pointing the finger of doom at Jane Fonda. The names listed were people who are in an age realm/category ripe for the picking by the Coffin Packers Association. You don't care for the topic, you have options----------1)Don't post in the topic 2)Create a topic which you feel is better 3)Bring it to the moderators, explaining your concerns and ask for it to be moved or merged. I thought silly and useless was OK around here. Besides it's not about common surnames but fairly similar women's first names, or, to be specific, as Bruno has been, those called Jane, Jayne, Jeanne, Jean and Joan. I assume a Jo, Jade, Janis or Jasmin would need to be featured elsewhere. And besides the first besides, while there may be some silliness to it, as is Bruno's wont, I can think of a lot more useless threads than this one.Besides the two besides I would add a "not only that" and that's this: it's a pretty impressive list of candidates. Far from being branded as useless, the list should be celebrated. One concession, to add to the three besides and the not only that, is that if everyone was to make first name lists, such as all the old famous Johns, for example, it could get a bit sillier. But if those lists were in this thread it would give it a kind of symmetry and justification, not that it needs either. On the other hand (to add to the besides etc), Bruno may object to his thread being hijacked in such a cavalier fashion. Or he may not. What does any of it matter? Twerps like Tomb are why Godot and others can't be bothered coming around here any more. People create topics, moderators and the staff approve or disapprove of the topic and let it stand alone or merge it with another or delete it. People like Tomb make snide remarks and snipe at the person who creates the topic and people are turned off by the antagonistic attitude and leave, never to be seen here again. I suggest that Tomb and her/his ilk go create their own site so they can delete every topic which fails to meet their desires.....of course, this would mean they'd have a site with very few if any topics. Right. You forgot to take your pills again, Bruno? But as you seem to be quite agitated by my post, I'll try to explain myself further. You're right that you have every right to create whatever thread you like and I don't have the authority to do anything about it. I do have the right to express my feelings about it, though, and so I did. If you don't want people to respond, don't even try and start. All your Janes (or anything that even vaguely sounds like that) are discussed (or at least can be discussed) elsewhere on the forum. The only reason to bring them together would be... er... I don't know? Is there any point, actually? If my 'snide remarks' were aimed at a vulnerable and insecure My Little Pony-girl, your accusation of me scaring off people would make sense. I was talking to you, however, and I reckoned you were able to take it a little bit better. Don't let my antagonism limit your (cough) creativity and brabble away. feeling good about yourself yet? Obviously not. In your continued juvenile attack of me { "Forgot to take your pills...?' and "insecure My Little Pony-girl"} and my topic, you also alas failed to even notice that one on my list is now dead, so perhaps it wasn't as vapid a topic as you'd like to believe. Sadly that~~~attacking others~~~~ seems to be what works best for you.

I hadn't given thought to this man for years. After Manimal was mercifully cancelled and he had done his required episode of Love Boat and Fantasy Island I just figured he'd gotten wise to the fact that he couldn't act-----or at least get a successful vehicle to appear in----and had gone to waiting tables somewhere. Still, it is sad to see him listed here.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2010

I spend hours placing the state or the country or the river and things. Start here: Place the state, lake, country, river, etc, -
Ah, Pittsburgh. Land of Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. And the occasional devastating flood. I have been swamped with flood stuff lately on channel 164 where they've been running every dam flood disaster they can from the Connecticut River overflow of 1936 to the Johnstown to the Wilkes-Barre flood and many others. It beats watching reruns of King of Queens {then again, what doesn't?}

In only the most limited of ways. n 1964 there was an Australian alpine Skiier named Ross Milne who suffered a fatality during training. That same set of olympics saw British luger Kazimerz Skrzypeski have a fatal run. The 64 olympics had an unknown final outcome in figure skating as well since in early 1961, the US figure skating team was killed---all of them---crashing in Brussels while headed to The World Championships in Prague. For this year's winter events, promising news:: over the Christmas holidays, there were 2 deaths at Whistler's Mountain! {and a gondola accident there as well} "Whistler mountain, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, was struck by tragedy twice over the holidays as two unrelated fatalities occurred on the slopes of the world class mountain resort. The names of the two deceased have not yet been released as family has yet to be notified. The tragic accidents come a week after a gondola from Blackcomb mountain made international headlines when it came loose from its wires. The 47-year-old man from Whistler was skiing on the upper Dave Murray Downhill run, an area that is open to the public, at about 2 p.m. when he left the marked piste, hit some large rocks and was severely injured, according to the RCMP. The ski patrol and two mountain doctors went to the man's aid and attempted to resuscitate him, but he succumbed to his injuries. The area had been posted with signs warning of unmarked rocks and obstacles due to early- season conditions, the RCMP said. The Mounties are continuing their investigation and are interviewing witnesses. The man's family has been notified and his name is not being released for now, police said. On Monday afternoon, a 17-year-old snowboarder from Burnaby, B.C., died on Whistler Mountain after hitting a boulder." One of those luge riders. I have a feeling there will be a huge luge pileup severing the careers of several sledders. The terrible matter will begin when Mark Grimette swerves to avoid hitting a snowflake. Grimette, (who will be 39 tomorrow, January 23) out of Muskegen Michigan will gain fame in a Gordon Lightfoot ballad which has a sound similar to Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald. {hey if Elton John could redo Candle in The Wind for Princess Diana, this can't be such a big stretch} Anyway. American luger Grimette will perish along with Tony Benshoof.

Speaking of radio, that bastion of American horrors, Air America is officially croaking on Monday night (which would be Tuesday morning in parts of Europe and elsewhere) RIP: Air America Goes Off The Air also visit http://www.airamerica.com http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/01/21/pr...oes-under/?/icd 9b] "Air America has announced it will end all broadcast operations and file for bankruptcy protection. In a memorandum posted on the progressive talk radio network's Web site Thursday, chairman Charlie Kireker said, "the very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America's business," forcing it to cease "its live programming operations as of this afternoon. Two liberal MSNBC commentators, Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz, once hosted programs on Air America. Minnesota Sen. Al Franken had his own show on the network from 2004 to 2007. Live programming ended Thursday at 6 p.m. ET. Recorded shows will air until Monday, when the network will shut down for good."[/b] Blame or credit depending on your side of the aisle, is currently being handed to President Obama, Martha "why the F... should I be bothered campaigning' Coakely (Democrat who lost in bid to complete Teddy Kennedy's term in Senate} and Scott "I appeared nekkid in Cosmo in 1982" Brown {Republican who won the Senate replacement seat}. None of them are fully to blame since the network had been faltering for quite some time. Goodbye Air America.

These stories about Steven Seagal are always blown way out of proportion. He was obviouly like Hugh Grant just doing research for a movie role. On to Jerry Lewis. I know he is well because I got a letter from him just the other day in which he pleaded for more money for The Muscular Dystrophy people and he even had his signature on it.
