Yeah I was gonna post that but I wasn't sure if this thread wasn't gonna be merged into another one or not. Did you know that the US army took him up in an F15 to do another supersonic flight in October last year, at the age of 89, on the 65th anniversary of his record breaking flight? This time he wasn't at the controls himself, of course... but still cool. Yeah I heard about that. Neatly enough it was on the same day Baumgartner broke the sound barrier.

Can't have a pilot thread without a mention of Chuck Yeager. 90 now, but still seems to be in pretty good health.

I tried something a bit nicer looking, unfortunately since there's no table BBCode on this forum the best I could use was white "I" signs to emulate spaces.

Aside from last year, there was 2002's hat trick of Wilder, Berle, and Moore

Funny to think I almost missed out on Nolan myself, had David James not copped out at the last minute. Oddly fitting that I take the lead on the 4th of July, given what my team name references... Certainly has been a remarkable year, and still almost half of it to go. Wouldn't be surprised if we had at least five teams finishing in the triple digits.

John David Wilson, animator on works such as Peter Pan and Lady and the Tramp, goes from slurping that strand of spaghetti to being slurped up by a bunch of worms.

Happy 97th!

I tend to assume someone else would have made mention before this point, which tends to be the case...

Since it's been a few updates since his death, I'm gonna mention that Vince Flynn was a pick this year by Noz4news (and got the obit)

That's exactly what I was thinking of, Inquiline

Should he get the obit, which I think he should, I believe that puts me in 2nd place...

Yeah, been trying to think of something based around "Truth and Reconciliation" for five minutes, I got nothing. It's a toughie, isn't it? I've already used up the "short walk to the crematorium" one in the Drop 40 notes. The angles are oddly difficult: his name, his other name (Madiba), Robben Island, ANC, "Free Nelson Mandela" (The Special AKO?) Apartheid, I'm Soweto-ing on this, I don't mind telling you... Departheid?

Wishing big guy a happy 94th.

I think JPII is the more fitting comparison since there's also the "end of days" coverage factor. Di's death was out of the blue but everyone knew JPII was near the end.

I think Summitt has a better obit chance than Pardee turned out to have, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom which about only two dozen sports figures have, and Reuters UK ran an article about her dementia diagnosis. -
Given the nature of the site, not a bit.

Loosely fits into the thread but comfortably fits into a coffin.

It's older than usual for a pregnant woman, but is the mother-to-be 47 years old?

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous
Death Impends replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Only-known-for-illness-folk like her tend not to have threads of their own... fringes of fame covers them. Figured it was worth mentioning that BBC covered her last concert. Given it's been half a year since her Christmas bid this pretty much means she'll get an obit when she goes.
