From his Wiki page: So he got the transplant back in 09. The article you posted is about the documentary, it looks like.

Abe Vigoda seems like he's worth a punt. The next-to-last-surviving witness to the death of Socrates died a few weeks back, maybe the notability of being the last one will finish poor Abe off.

Doesn't look good for her - in hospital with pneumonia and her friend, actress Juliette Lewis, tweeted "Hi gorgeous souls can u please say a prayer of eternal love and strength for my glorious mentor Karen Black? Her cancer fight is almost over." -
How's Generalissimo Francisco Franco doing? I'd assume he's still dead but you can never be too sure...

In hospital for routine checkup. The article mentions that he has diabetes, not sure if that was known about before but this was the first I've learned of him having it.

Happy 89th! He's celebrating it by wearing Superman socks and having his library ask others to wear crazy socks as well.

Only-known-for-illness-folk like her tend not to have threads of their own... fringes of fame covers them. -

Very, very nice analysis. For Franz, I have no clue if he has specific ailments, but in an article on the Hindenburg's 75th while the younger survivor (Werner Doehner) had some comments on the incident to give, Franz couldn't be reached for comment. That could be an indicator of health or just reflective of the fact he lives in Germany. But I mostly picked him on the merit that he was interesting, guaranteed an obit, and most importantly was a likely unique. In terms of how I'm doing, I'd be very, very satisfied even if Cecil ends up my last hit. It near certainly won't be the case what Nolan and co hanging by a thread but I'm speaking more from a hypothetical pov than anything. On my first time I've managed 9 hits, a unique on someone genuinely famous, and every death coming with an obit, though granted Muir is the only one I felt was a gamble. The only real sign of me being a first timer is Thorson's presence, and to a lesser extent not catching Clive James's leukemia being in remission. (although he isn't really a bad pick in that he could still go, but it probably won't be 2013)

Definitely seems like end zone for Nelson

Certainly has been an amazing year. Literally anyone on Od's team could die next and he'd be in triple digits.

I hardly think the death of such a huge historical figure is the appropriate time to have a wank... The only thing more disrespectful is... well, whatever Jacob Zuma's going to do

Certainly of about all the people to have announced terminal illness in the past few months he seemed like having one of the best odds of seeing 2014. Funny thing, death.

Can now add "former person" to his resume.

Fun fact: Fidel Castro appeared in two of her movies as an extra when he was a college student.

Former Beijing mayor, Tiananmen crackdown figure, and a unique on Bert's team Chen Xitong has died, two days before June 4.

Ugggh, do agree that he was nowhere near Corzine levels. Lautenberg had some good moments like the smoking legislation but Corzine's a pure dirtbag. And yeah I'm also fond of Booker, particularly his hands on approach.

Irena Sendler and Miep Gies are two other examples

Bob Fletcher, who took care of several Japanese-American-owned farms during the infamous WWII internment of Japanese Americans, has died at the age of 101. A good lifespan for a good man.

I'm from NJ and my parents vote Democrat for the most part, but Lautenberg was an exception. Not only did he generally give vibes of unpleasantness but his return to office happened when scandal relating to the incumbent senator running popped up, the incumbent withdrew and was hastily replaced with Lautenberg which my parents rightfully thought of as sleazy.
