If I can write a Cribbins obit as an American without being burned at the stake then I know I've made it. But really, thanks, it can be tricky at times giving proper dues to beloved figures who I don't have as much first hand experience with. And I really wanted to make sure Cribbins had a good one. His near-700 words are the most I've written for anyone bar Ronnie Spector!

Actually the Ideas and Possibilities thread is for deadpooling in general. For DL suggestions there is a "who should be on next year's DeathList?" thread set up each year, typically in late November or early December.

How come this years deathlist is doing so poorly?
Death Impends replied to Charles De Gaulle's topic in Dead Pools
Think the COVID theory is onto something since 2020 was a perfect storm with how names like Giscard d'Estaing, Cardin, Stiller etc felt like they would be a bedblocker hit 2-3 years down the line yet instead died then. Plus 2020 had a few big public cancer battles (Trebek, Ginsburg) whereas 2022 there aren't any besides Pele who still breathes. -
Yep Guardian has it now - https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jul/27/james-lovelock-creator-of-gaia-hypothesis-dies-on-103rd-birthday

Legit remembered to use "fewer" instead of "less" for a recent DDP obit solely because of this gif. -
Shout out to the 2001 team who jokered Trump - ahead of their time. As well as another team that year who jokered the world's oldest person (who died in Nov 2000). Had they jokered the living titleholder instead they would have won the whole DDP!

So I have been tinkering with the archives as one is wont to do during that July dry spell. Not going to mention every little change I do but I uncovered a mother lode while prowling Archive.org - namely that Excel spreadsheets for the 2000-02 DDPs were still hosted on the site as late as 2010. Thought they were lost to history yet were under my nose all along! I have now converted all three into proper webpages. https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2000/teams.html https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2001/teams.html https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2002/teams.html I believe this leaves 3 DDPs where selection records are lost to time (96, 97, 99). As an addendum, I was taken back by how many misses the DDP was experiencing even in these nascent years. So I was inspired to set up a page for misses before 2008 (the first year with a standalone LotM page)... https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/list-of-the-missed-early-years/

Austrian actor Robert Hoffmann, star of The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, died on July 4 aged 82. (link in German) Picked on DDP by ZZ Topped but currently awaits a QO. -
He was concerned when the doctors mentioned heart failure until they reminded him he was on the 2022 DeathList.

This is probably the year in which the LotM gets closest to the actual hits in its starpower?

What do YOU do to not die/age as slowly as possible?
Death Impends replied to InquilineKea's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Routinely using the exercise bike, plus giving up soda and largely replacing it with water. Weird to think I used to drink at least two cans a day yet at this point I don't even miss it. -
We already went through that one. Evidence was found that he was born 1936 iirc.

Ta. I originally drafted the last line as "Not even the Man from Del Monte would say yes!" only for Abe/Storch/Echeverria to happen the following days. Hedged my bets a bit!

^ Had seen that one in reruns before I switched to watching chronologically, hah. Vehicle dealer I recall.

US Ensemble Dramas/HBO Box Set Shows
Death Impends replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList Forum
Another LotM via Spade's Sopranos theme. At this rate if that team jinxes Frankie Valli or Nancy Sinatra I swear to God... -
I jokered Larry Storch entirely because of Looney Tunes personnel who make 99 rarely seeing the third digit - Foray et al. Sometimes superstition overrides cold logic!

The Lincoln joke in the thread subtitle was an omen.

Not in UK either but how I read it is BoJo actually is a liability now whereas Trump never truly was. Like Nixon didn't survive Watergate not because the GOP had any integrity then, but because enough states were open to voting either party that enough senators risked losing their jobs back then if they stayed on the sinking Nixon ship. Whereas enough voters have been indoctrinated now that the GOP rank-and-file all know their jobs are safe no matter what so they no longer have to pretend to not be hacks.
