As my phone got the BBC breaking pushup beginning with "ex-pope Benedict" I thought the DL had an early big miss for a split second there!

Takes me back to this gem in the Honor Blackman thread. No disrespect to the Kid, who has matured and since learned that a post you're not fond of getting a bunch of likes isn't really a big deal. Time will tell if the man decades Kid's senior will do the same...

Yahoo Will Do is Reptile's C Team, named as such due to its heaviness on Yahoo UK gambles.
-
Definitely well known in US. Basically the type of name who is so big in country circles that it translates to name recognition outside of it, even if I wouldn't be able to hum any of her songs.

There is one pick that on paper, we should disallow, but were "eh whatever" about. Because they have a 0.00000001% chance of obiting (and may already be dead already), the team that picked them has a 0.00000001% chance of winning, and selfishly I get too much a kick out of the image I chose for them...

Yep, bit of a cult pick in the late 2010s. Not putting him on the List of the Missed though, as I'm opting not to do so for names that wouldn't pass under current criteria.

Mostly the latter. I don't think anyone's actually tested the committee with a longevity claimant, though we did reject a few centenarians on insufficient notability.

I will update this weekend. Sidney Poitier, Jana Bennett and Francis Jackson hits too, in addition to those mentioned above, is there anyone else?
-
Given I don't want to read any more about this cunt than needed, pretty glad he's not a pick TBH!

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Worth noting Flo Ayres was among the survivors of the first episode of Sesame Street, as the voice of Sissy the Skunk in this claymation segment: Cast listing here. A good few of note left, including Frank Oz of course. And didn't realize Grace Slick contributed! -
Bingo.

O'Hara, and all your other brand new picks, were my doing. Lots of fun to write! I didn't even see The Stud in his ouvere on IMDB hence me revamping his little blurb. Hope you get a kick out of my shout out to you in another of your picks's descriptions!

As in clicking on front page links? Strange, I don't seem to have that problem, anyone else encountering the same?

I think I know why that is. He was a brand new name this year, entered as Barry Hansen. He was in my half of the data entry, I told the fellow committee members that I think he should be Dr. Demento instead as he's far better known as that (we almost missed Biz Markie as a hit last year, as he was picked under Marcel Hall!), we all agreed and it was changed. But I guess the system still sees him as an "H" due to what he was originally. It's another to-do that'll be fixed in due time.

I was 99% sure Carter would take the top spot, since a frail 97-year-old US president felt the natural successor to Phil the Greek, and Kirk, Zsa Zsa etc before. And if he wasn't, it would be Pele, or maybe one of the Toms. Didn't consider Alagiah!

DQ = disqualified. DBN = Death By Numbers. An onforum deadpool.

We're officially up. The sidebars are updated, 2021 in the archives, and a little introductory post by me ahead of the actual obits. Plenty of work to go - but we're open.

The DQ verdicts were all made, as hinted by Reptile in the DBN thread. As we're in the home stretch, and in interests of transparency, here's the poor nonentities you all tried to sneak past us this year: Mike Mora - Already explained earlier in thread, not notable for photography career Edith Kwoizalla - First German woman to be vaccinated against COVID. We already excluded the UK equivalents last year. Esther Waitherero - Sister of President Mwai Kibaki of Kenya. No actual coverage that indicates notability. Andrew McAslan - Minor runner who has not had coverage independent of his cancer Phil Rossall - Wheelchair world record not good enough, nor is his fundraising amount Esther Lee - Mentioned her as a no go in the salvage lot thread, reiterating that she is essentially a "family of X" pick even if she's the physical therapist to rather than a relative of Serena Williams Mike Edwards - His football club is too minor a level Robyn Free - I already said she wouldn't count in thread, as "one appearance on a game show" picks have a really high bar, to pass as a pick. She was indeed a pick, so now DQed Dave Marsh - Member of a no-name 60s band who only got coverage as Kym's dying dad. Look if they're a 60s musician and I never heard of them... Martha Sepulveda - Our toughest decision, and there was a lot of backing and forthing. In the end we decided that a case can be notable, but the person at the centre of it not necessarily so. If she fought for the change in that Colombian euthanasia law, it might have been good enough, but in the end she was just the first person to "benefit", for lack of a better word, from a law change that was made irrespective of her Mia Macklin - Social media pick with nowhere near enough followers Brian Morris - Golfer whose PGA "career" was one game, after a terminal illness. Not notable for his actual career, which was very local pre-illness Tiffany Youngs - This came close to sneaking by, as she was in the database pre-FFBI ban. But no, only in the spotlight as Tom's wife

Congrats, Banana!

Oh eck he's drummed too!

And then he'd be a very popular HPDP pick 20-30 years later.
