I've managed to nab a 3 month free trial of Apple TV and have started watching Slow Horses. If I hadn't read the book I would have given up after the first 5 minutes. Rapid incomprehensible dialogue and even the subtitles went too fast to read. The diction and enunciation of most of the actors is deplorable. I've also been watching I Claudius. Back in those days, actors knew how to deliver lines.

Ah, but there you have people for whom there was always plenty to talk about. You could never be sure when the wheels might come off.

I was actually going to agree with him but the article doesn't mention anything about putting dogs down, and I am certainly not going to read his column. If they are going to ban these dogs (I gather there may be difficulties about definition) I would rather they were deported to the USA where they originated, and seem not to be a problem there. This old cliché though: Boris Johnson ..... saying: 'It’s not the dog that’s the problem, it’s the owner.' No, sometimes it IS the dog that's the problem.

I've already explained. It's nothing to do with her nationality, and her death will certainly be reported by UK media, so it's not that either. My objection is twofold. 1. There are already 2 existing threads where she can be discussed. 2. It's pointless opening a thread for someone who's pretty much on their deathbed as there will be no activities to discuss. The only news we're likely to get now is her death.
