Gonzalo Caballero, spanish matador and boyfriend of the king's niece, gored twice by bull and in serious condition:

Serve the cunt right.  I trust his wedding tackle was severely damaged.  Hopefully it will all go septic and fall off.

The crowd demanded that despite not finishing the fight, Caballero should be "rewarded" with the traditional severed ear of the bull and this was done by another matador.  The ear, it is reported, was delivered to him whilst he was still in the bullring infirmary.

    That is beyond disgusting.

  2. Who knows what the truth is about the money?  Whether or not she had a fortune, she would have left her money as she wished, and if she didn't leave it to her own children she would have had her reasons.  She didn't die suddenly, she had plenty of time to make those arrangements.   Perhaps she didn't have as much as they assumed.  I've got cousins who haven't spoken to each other in years over their late parent's non-existent money.

As for marrying in the same church, that's nothing out of the ordinary.  If people have a long-standing connection to a church, they celebrate all their important life events there.

I didn't write the article you cunt.  I didn't make any 'statements' by posting it either.  I didn't 'realise' anything.  You are an absolute cunt.  Fuck off.

I seem to have touched a nerve :P

Looks like the Bovine Attacks thread, as it pertains to British diary farmers, will be one for the archivist.

Scientists are genetically engineering male bovine to rid them of their dangerous horns.  Dairy cattle typically grow horns, which can injure farm workers, ramblers and dog walkers, so they are usually removed when the calf is young, in a process known as ‘debudding’.  As well as making the animal safer, dehorning also makes it easier to pack bulls into pens and trucks because horns take up space, but the process is extremely painful for the animal.
    SC

You do realise that almost all the bovines in the typical herd are cows, ie females?  The clue is in the term "dairy cattle".

Dairy means milk, something not produced by bulls.

Anyway deaths and injuries caused by cows are usually from trampling and crushing.

  6. No, I didn't like Stranger Things.  The kids were annoying and Winona Ryder was even more annoying.

Spot on.  Speaking of which, In The Tall Grass was dreadful.  Started off like Children Of The Corn, but was just confusing after that.  I gather the source story is simpler and more effective.

Do you have the link to the list of acceptable QOs? I know it's floating around the forums, but I've lost it somewhere and it isn't linked in the main DDP site...

It is on the DDP Rules & Scoring page.  Just scroll down a bit.

    OBITUARY QUALIFICATION:

There has been a refining of the rules as to what qualifies as a legitimate obit:

To win points, there must be the mention of a celebrity's death on a national online news source:

    • BBC:
    • all subsections of bbc.co.uk/news (including the previously barred local news areas)
    • bbc.co.uk/sport
    • bbc.co.uk/newsbeat

Or from the UK versions of the following:

    • telegraph.co.uk
    • thetimes.co.uk
    • ft.com
    • theguardian.com
    • dailymail.co.uk
    • express.co.uk
    • dailystar.co.uk
    • thesun.co.uk
    • mirror.co.uk
    • morningstaronline.co.uk
    • metro.co.uk
    • inews.co.uk

(this excludes references on the death announcements sections of broadsheet websites)

    ...or from these news sites:

    • uk.reuters.com
    • news.sky.com/uk
    • skysports.com
    • itv.com/news
    • channel4.com/news

The notice of death must be in written English. Video links are only accepted if the strapline mentions the celebs passing.

The following news sources are excluded as from 1st January 2016: Huffington Post UK, MSN UK, Yahoo UK, Scotsman, Herald Scotland, Daily Record, STV and UTV. The Independent has now been removed as of 01/01/2017 as it no longer has a regular print edition. The Evening Standard is not considered as it covers the London area only.

  8. The Last Kingdom.

Absolutely brilliant series that seems to have gone under the radar.   Bernard Cornwell epic: King Alfred v the Danes, with a fictional hero.

I watched the first 2 episodes of this way back in 2015 when it started on BBC2, but forgot or missed the third episode and lost track of it.

It's now gone to three series with a fourth just wrapped, and is now solely made by Netflix after BBC dropped out after S2.

Busy catching up and I am totally hooked.  It has some of the elements of Game Of Thrones, but it's less complex.  No dragons but some witchcraft here and there.  Great characters, great writing, great acting.  Plenty of humour, great hair and beard dos, tattoos and eyeliner!

Highly recommended.  Treat Ep 1 as mainly a prequel:  by Ep 3 it has hit its stride.

I have also watched a few episodes of Mad Men and it's not drawing me in.  Am I right in thinking that much of its appeal stems from its recreation of the 1960s?   I can see that it would have a fascination for people born post-60s.

Tom Jones cancelled a local concert last year and rather than refunding the concert goers they were instead invited to watch a video presentation of one of his famous BBC performances. Don't know which is worse but a bit of a cop out for the fans that, I thought. Hopefully it won't go the same way for you or even worse (not for the DL) being invited to watch a tribute montage.

Did the booking T&C really allow that?   Disgraceful.  I can't believe they'd get away with that.

  12. The only other place I have him is 30/30, I think.   I tend to look for picks who would attract bonuses in the HPDP, rather than safe bets, as I like to have a bit of variety.  I should have picked him for alt obits, must have forgotten about him.
