True, Uncle Walter has been relatively quiet as of late. It's been six months since his wife's death and I don't think he has made any public appearances. He did speak to Ron Reagan by phone on his show after Peter Jennings death. But he has not been seen out to the best of my knowledge.

It was anounced today that actor Bob Denver died this past Friday at age 70 at a North Carolina hospital after undergoing open-heart surgery. In the 1950s and 1960s Denver starred in the title roles of popular sitcoms: "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" and "Gilligan's Island."

Apparently the Rehnquist service is open only to the family and a few friends. So the odds are there will be no ex presidents there.

Found on Wilkipeda that Galbraith was also President John F. Kennedy's ambassador to Kenya in the early 1960s. This man had an extroadinary career!
-
I decided to go with Galbraith, he's 97 and someone said in his thread that he had been hospitalized with pneumonia. For a 97 year old man that's not good at all. As for Biggs, I'm thinking more and more that he is faking.

5 random possibilities for #10? 1. Ronnie Biggs 2. General Pinochet 3. Brooke Astor 4. Simon Wiesenthal 5. Gerald Ford

With all of the posting about the health of Coretta Scott King, one begins to wonder about the status of Ethel Kennedy, the other woman who's husband was assassinated in that awful year of 1968.
-
Definitely true, Dr. Graham could turn out to be a big miss for the list even though the year will soon be drawing to a close. He looks like he could go at any time.

haven't heard anything of late. He'll probably release a statement regarding the passing of Wm. Rehnquist...otherwise, nothing. We'll just have to wait for him to shuffle off this mortal coil a little longer. It will be interesting to see what Ford has to say on Rehnquist's death. Even more so I think everyone will agree that it is highly doubtful he will be able to come to Washington for the funeral service.

Has anybody heard anything out of good ole Jerry lately?
-
Bob Dole b. 1923 might be a good possibility for next year. The 1996 Republican nominee and former senator has been looking and sounding a bit frail lately. I know that he fell early this year and had hip replacement surgery.
-
Does anyone know her status these days?
-
Can you be specific as to where that info came from? I mean is it being reported in the media? I can find nothing about Heston's health deteriorating on any news sites.
-
You're right! Rehnquist was on the court when Dallas was running. And he has also reportedly been a lifelong SMOKER! I assume he has now quit since he has a trach 24/7. So we may soon have 3rd celeb cancer death related to cigarettes.

Unless there is a surprise from another contender, I'd say Biggs is probably in the bag for #9.
-
I could be wrong, but I believe that Charlton Heston will die before Kirk Douglas does.
-
Kirk appeared with his son Michael on Larry King tonight. He really looked bad and still has a bad speech impediment from his stroke. But at 88, still seems very alert and has just completed a father/son HBO documentarywith Michael.

My Picks 1. Lady Bird Johnson 2. Don Knotts 3. Charlton Heston 4. Billy Graham 5. Zsa Zsa Gabor

Publisher of JET and Ebony, died Monday of heart failure

Longtime ABC World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings anounced today that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Jennings, 66 will be taking chemotherapy on an outpatient basis while continuing his anchor duties. But medical experts are saying that by taking chemo and not having surgery that his prognosis doesn't sound good.
-
Apparently Don Knotts is NOT doing so well. CNN reported tonight that an upcoming homecoming celebration in his hometown of Morgantown, West Virginia has been put on hold. The report said that the 81 year old actor is too "frail" to travel.
-
My gut feeling tells me that it's between Biggs, Galbraith, and Rehnquist.
-
According to CNN Rehnquist has already returned home. But that doesn't mean he is better. It could be that his cancer is so bad, that there is nothing more that the doctors can do for him. He may just have returned home to die. The interesting thing now will be if he stops going to the office. If that happens I'd say the end is probably drawing nearer.

Actually Schultz was Ronald Reagan's Secretary of State from 1982-89. He was however Nixon's Treasury Secretary in the early 1970s.
-
I'm guessing William Rehnquist, if he's not #9, will go by year's end. A guy 80 years old with cancer and a trach who has to go to the hospital with fevers and can barely walk, won't last long.
