Here goes bad TAF again, putting non-death-related news into Death by Jazz. Anyway, one of the few old jazzers left, Ornette Coleman, is to curate this year's Meltdown festival. Line-up to be improvised and excessively modulated once festival starts. Ba-dum (... seven and a half beats ...) splawkk!

83-year-old Alan Whicker seemed in fine fettle in his new TV series. As a journalist pointed out, he looked about 50 in the late 1950s and looks about 70 now. Must have a shocking picture in his attic. A great career and immortalised in rhyming slang to boot, what a chap.
