Most Significant Death For Every Year From 1963 To Present
TAFKAG replied to chicago103's topic in DeathList Forum
Maybe this really fantastic thread could be split into Most Significant Blah Blah and Most Newsworthy Yap Yap, or into Most Significant Death Zzz and Death of the Person who was Most Significant while Alive Waffle, or into Most Sig Death for Yanks, Most Sig for Brits, Most Sig for Turks and Caicos Islanders, Most Si... Or maybe it could be closed. -
Kaz and Gez (and hopefully the Magnificent Tapas 7) have been asked to star in a Portuguese remake of Clue. Am Dram on the Algarve?

Ex-Archbishop of Melbourne, Frank Little, has died at 82. Another eminent Victorian, former senator and government minister John Button, died in Melbourne on the same day.

Bagpuss voted Top UK Children's TV Animal (in a mighty 1,100-strong poll), a whole 9 years after winning Most Popular Children's TV Programme of All-time. He's got staying power that saggy moggie, and only 13 episodes ever made. Maybe that's where Tempus has been, busy voting... Mr Postgate seems to be in fine fettle too, busy blogging away for the New Statesman. Some hot Bagpuss action especially for Godot and his Godettes ˇ

Bob wins a Pulitzer Prize. How he didn't win one for Tarantula is beyond me...

I'm pretty sure the three never all worked together, but Widmark was in How the West Was Won with both Karl Malden and Eli Wallach, and with Kirk Douglas in The Way West. I still voted for Felt, though. But Herbert Lom is the Kevin Bacon of the 2008 DL piece. He was in Night and the City with Widmark, Spartacus with Douglas and El Cid with Heston. Blake Edwards also directed him three times in the Pink Panther movies. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a German PoW extra in Dad's Army, played in the same Sunday league footy team as Levi-Strauss, married Zsa Zsa a couple of times and trained as a fighter pilot alongside Norman Wisdom either.

Most Significant Death For Every Year From 1963 To Present

As damning an indictment of the modern age that I can think of. Now where did I misplace those Werther's Originals... -
I have to say, I love everything about Sir Robert, especially the attitude displayed above. And his malapropisms. "Some of the goals were good, some of the goals were sceptical".

How many times do we have to tell you Dwain, it's a rugby ball. You don't swallow it, snort it OR inject it.

Mrs Edwards is perfectly well enough to have a go at McCain's health plan. She's this year's Roddy Piper - obscure North American with little chance of dying who's taking up a valuable DL spot.

Seems like he's close to defeat and stepping down, but anything's possible where Mugabe's concerned.

Joseph Kony, leader of the LRA in Uganda, is either too ill with the sh*ts to sign a proposed peace deal with the government or he missed the last bus and had to walk. DDT reported his illness a while ago, but maybe Kony's also a little worried at the reception he might receive in Ri-Kwangba.

Mr T (Laurence Tureaud) has died of a suspected heart attack in California.

Film director Jules Dassin has died aged 96. He sounded French, but he was an American and he lived and died in Greece. Picked by three DDP teams but never mentioned on the DL, he was once an assistant to Hitch, was blacklisted in the McCarthy era and his most well-known film was Never on Sunday. Nope, me neither.

R&B singer Sean Levert has become the second son of The O'Jays lead vocalist Eddie to predecease him in the past 18 months, following fellow LeVert band member Gerald. I'd be checking my life insurance policy if I was sole surviving originator Marc Gordon.

Labour peer and former MP Albert Stallard has died. Sorry for not posting it in the Dead thread, but I quite enjoyed stumbling across inveterate floor-crosser Paul Marsden's ranting and Dennis Revell's eloquent baiting so I put it here. It appears that Marsden hasn't joined the Tories or the Raving Loonies since 2005 and is still 'outliving' us all; maybe he'd like to post with an update?

Nick Du Toit / Simon Mann / Mark Thatcher

The Equatorial Guinean attorney general José Olo Obono has issued an arrest warrant against Mark Thatcher. But no-one seems to know where this international man of mystery is... -
Grammy-winning gospel/soul/jazz guitarist Chalmers "Spanky" Alford has died. No idea how good his chops were, but he had a damn fine name.

He sounds like a right luvvie... The old rascal has his own thread too.

Entertaining basket case Ronnie O'Sullivan has been 'dicking' around at a press conference in China. (try 1:20-2:45 and 4:45-5:20 if you're pressed for time) Here's a newspaper take on the story.
