Tony Curtis is gonna die soon. I can feel it. And Tony Curtis is quite frankly, a nothing. A pretty face, but not much else. I know Paul Newman, and you sir, are no Paul Newman.

Liz Taylor's final days? http://www.thecelebritycafe.com/features/21140.html Doesn't look good for this legendary dame!

After a relatively slow couple of weeks we are finally getting some big hitters. In addition to Motown legend Levi Stubbs, fashion industry icon Mr. Blackwell has recently passed away. http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-...0,6825099.story

You noticed that too. Glad i wasn't the only one.....

Why blame me?!?!?!?!? i'm just the messenger!!!! blah blah snipped. I'm not so sure. Just to be safe I think we must sacrifice young Mr Alum on a very very hot pyre to please the gods and allow the DL future prosperity. I've got the conch!! Why blame me?!?!?!?!? i'm just the messenger!!!! BTW, another celebrity has teased us with his near death status. His name is Gale Harold. He was in Desperate Housewives and the star of Queer as Folk. He was involved in a serious motorcycle accident and was listed in "critical condition." Reportedly, he was suffering from brain swelling. But alas, he's expected to recover. Another celebrity teases us with being close to death, but surviving. How many is that this year? Kelsey Grammar, Liz Taylor, Morgan Freeman, Travis Barker, DJ AM, Amy Winehouse, Ted Kennedy, Bob Novak, Mr. Blackwell, and Gale Harold. So many celebrities had the potential to die, but they fought the icy cold grip of death and succeeded..... I'm still holding out hope for Amy Winehouse, though.

October is traditionally a slow time for celebrity deaths anyway... But so far this October, I don't think there's a single significant celebrity who has died (discounting Jorg Haider, whose celebrity status is disputed). And it's already October 17. of course, I'm actually still mourning Paul Newman's death so I'm not really preoccupied with celebrity deaths (at the moment). Yes, I've been watching many of his films. So far, I've seen Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Cool Hand Luke, The Hustler, The Sting, The Color of Money, Road to Perdition, The Verdict, The Towering Inferno, and Nobody's Fool. Next up: Newman's earlier classics like Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Hud, Torn Curtain, and Somebody Up There Likes Me.

Damn it. So close too!

Little Richard is a good one! I will definitely add him to my prelimiary 2009 list. Lots of celebrities are ill right now, though none seem to be imminently dying or are in life threatening condition. The thing is, I still miss Paul Newman. Even if someone like Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Liz Taylor, etc., dies, I don't think it will have the same impact as Paul Newman.

Once they confirmed that the remains belong to Steve Fossett, I will be more than happy to confirm he's dead and will add him to my "In Memoriam" list of 2008....

Cirio H. Santiago, one of the most prolific B-movie filmmakers of the 20th century, has died of lung cancer at the age of 72. When I was a kid, I remember going to my local mom & pop video store, and virtually every week, there's always a new video out by Cirio Santiago. So many memories ... this guy churned out numerous entertaining B-movies by the dozens. They range from post-apocalyptic Mad Mix rip-offs to martial arts kickboxing flicks, to Vietnam War era jungle movies. I had a ton of fun watching his movies. Thanks for the memories, Cirio.... http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadl...iago-dies-at-72

So who's gonna die first? Jane Goody, or ............................................................................. Amy Winehouse??????? Or.......................................Margaret Thatcher??? [edited to remove the big, pointless bits of blank space, thus saving DLers valuable seconds when reading this thread]

2008: Paul Newman (by far) Here are some of my choices: 2007: Benazir Bhutto 2006: Gerald Ford 1999: John F. Kennedy, Jr. 1997: Princess Diana

What a sad loss. Thank you Paul Newman for your wonderful contributions. You have truly raised the bar for Hollywood actors. We will all miss you. You remain a truly extraordinary actor and you have left a legacy that will be cherished for generations of cinema fans. One of the very best actors of any generation is gone.

Wasn't this the same Travis Barker who was falsely reported dead about a year ago??? Yes. There were also rumors that Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction frontman) and Gavin DeGraw were on the plane, but both were not and are still alive. Now there are rumors that one of the dead is Shanna Moakler, Travis Barker's ex. However, there are other rumors that the female who died was identified as just an assistant of Travis (and not Shanna). So who knows????? Right now, this plane crash is big news in the states b/c there was the possibility that all three musicians (Perry Farrell, Gavin DeGraw, and Travis Barker) were on the plane during the crash. This could've easily been another tragedy like February 3, 1959. Imagine if all three were on the plane and none of them made it...America would be mourning the loss of three prominent young musicians. But it looks like all of them are gonna be okay (Travis is still in critical condition, but rumor has it the doctors are optimistic that he'll make it). Travis Barker is VERY lucky to havep pull through. Bernie Mac notwithstanding, many celebrities who were on the brink of death have miraculously pulled through this year (Morgan Freeman, Kelsey Grammar, Patrick Swayze, Elizabeth Taylor). God must really love our American celebrities. With respect, none of them would have matched up to Buddy Holly, or even Lynyrd Skynrd..... I think there weren't a lot of people in 1959 that saw the planecrash as a serious lose then, mainly because someone like Buddy Holly was at the time only populair with teenagers (a small part of the population). Because he died so young people make him bigger and he becomes a product. Just like: Jean Harlow, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Che Geuvara, Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrisson, Bruce Lee, Elvis Presley, John Lennon (was already an icon), Bob Marley, Andy Warhol, Brandon Lee, River Phoenix, Kurt Cobain, Tupac, Anna Nicole Smith and Heath Ledger (last two are becoming it) Did I miss one??? I would actually add Tim Russert to that list. Although Russert was a fairly well known and respected journalist, he became much more well known this year prior to and after his death. He became more well known due to his extensive coverage of the 2008 US primaries. If a person becomes a product, his or her image gets overly misused by comercialication. Geuvara's face on T-shirts bought by people who don't even know who he was. Bruceploitation films come out with LOST FOOTAGE of Bruce Lee (home video's of him as a kid). CD's come out with rerused footage of Holly, Hendrix, Joplin, The (original) Doors, Presley, Marley, Nirvana, Tupac etc. If you flip trough the posters in a store you easily see more than five of the above names apearing there. I can't see Tim Russert fit this disscription. Tim Russert has written a couple of memoirs (Big Russ & Me and Wisdom of Our Fathers) are both are in pretty high demand in the states. Bookstores everywhere are prominently placing these books on the "Hot items" shelf. So in that regard, Russert has become somewhat of an icon. I would probably add Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) to the above list as well.

Yes, but it's not really what he was best remembered for - although no-one here will remember him anyway because no-one's heard of him (Apart from BC Alum perhaps, he excels in knowing people no-one of us have ever heard of! Heath who? Tim who? ). It seemed a random thing to post about his basketball, when you consider for 25 years he was a baseball coach at Indiana University. Anyway, I mis-read it on Wikipedia & thought Emil Andres had died all over again. I hope this trend of nobody famous dying continues until December 31st. It certainly would make life easier.... I keep forgetting that I am a Yankee and most of you guys are British. That's why I "excel" in knowing people none of you guys have heard of. We Yanks have different standards of who a celebrity is. If you ask an American who Jeremy Beadle, Carol Barnes or Mark Speight is, 99.9% of Americans would be completely scratching their heads. On the other hand, if we ask British people who Bernie Mac, Tim Russert, or Don S. Davis are, most British would be flabbergasted.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...
BCAlum2000 replied to Vaagheid's topic in DeathList Forum
Damn. Thats twice now in the last few days my hopes have been dashed I thought when he was billed as being in a show for 1 night only that he was about to do a dear old Tomy Cooper live on tv. Now you do this to me Windsor Wikipedia is very annoying when it comes to false claims of dead celebrities. It annoys the hell out of me. A few weeks ago, wikipedia claimed that Adam West (of Batman fame) died and even included several dead links to "confirm" his death! Of course, the mayor of Quahog, Rhode Island is still very much alive. -
Jake Roberts and his lethal "snake" got his opponents and the crowds shakin'.....

Lehman Brothers is reportedly filing bankruptcy. This is huge news in the States, and this could either mean that the market has hit the bottom and the worse is over ... or sh*t has really hit the fan and the financial markets will be hurting for a long time.

Agreed. Teenagers should be burnt at the stake. Heath Ledger? No, I think it was Mark Priestley.

Britney Spears, Kerry Katona, Heather Locklear et al.
BCAlum2000 replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
She might already be a member. Anyone heard anything from ie+ since Britney went off the rails? I saw Britney Spears on the VMA (video Music Awards) which aired on MTV. I thought she looked great! She looked graceful, pretty, even poised. This is almost the complete reversal of the Britney Spears i saw earlier this year. If you have Britney Spears on your death list, I would definitely remove her. she definitely came very close to suicide earlier this year (coincidentally, around the same time Heath Ledger died). she came damn close and was definitely on the brink. but after seeing her on MTV, I feel she is no longer suicidal. She looks like she's ready to come back stronger than ever. If she keeps this up, she will have a long and health life. As for Lohan, never thought she was the suicidal type. A bit crazy in the head, but not suicidal. I'm not sure why a lot of people predicted lohan to be the next Marilyn Monroe (besides, i think Anna nicole Smith already fits that bill). Overall, this might sound outrageously crazy, but I think Heath Ledger did save Britney's life (tragically at the cost of Heath's own life) b/c like I said, Heath ledger died around the time Britney Spears was reportedly suicidal and on the brink of death. But when Ledger died, maybe Britney Spears was hit particularly hard. It was then she woke up and realize she has to change her ways or else end up like Heath. (I dunno, maybe I'm stretching things a bit.) -
Are We All To Die When CERN Sort Themselves Out?
BCAlum2000 replied to xzandra's topic in DeathList Forum
fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately for some saps out there), we are still alive and breathing. At least i am.
