Damian Green MP has been deselected (sort of... he was fighting for the candidacy in a new constituency that had been created from the new boundary changes). Pretty brutal but given his controversies over the years and strong support for remain, not entirely a surprise that a conservative association wouldn't want him.

Dutch-Israeli economic historian Benjamin de Vries (wiki) supposedly died on 11 Feb, aged 99. I think it was @arghton who predicted that a lot of 1923 names would fall before reaching their 100th in 2023. So far this year, from the names who had existing English language Wiki pages we've had Benjamin de Vries, David Oreck, Robert Geddes, Eileen Sheridan, Ruth Adler Schnee, Mary Ellen Hawkins, Elliot Valenstein, William Frank, Shantabai Kamble, Isaac Trachtenberg, and Graham Winteringham. Also Wally Campo (who didn't have a Wiki page until after his death but he was on our radar).

I've updated the cast list for The Comedians again (see the spoiler below) to add a few names who were missing. Dennis Jones, the Bradford impressionist died in 1993. I've removed Jimmy Cricket because despite being listed on IMDb, he never appeared on the show. As for passings since my last update, Blackpool stand-up Tony Jo died from cancer in January 2022, aged just 70. Local obit and Jimmy Cricket posted a tribute to him on his website here. There's an obit for a Pat Tansey here from 2022, aged 70. I don't think it's him but I'm not certain. The individual died in Sunderland. Pat Tansey the comedian was Irish-born and lived in Bromsgrove, and according to a quick Google search was still performing in 2021. I'm amazed that Stevie Faye is still with us at 96 considering that he's been so frail for years. He must surely be the oldest living comedian of note in the UK now.

I must be the only one on here who doesn’t give a toss about his passing. In fact, I care a bit more about Dick Van Dyke appearing on The Masked Singer, and I *really* don’t care about that either.

Twitter reporting the death of American composer and conductor Gerald Fried (wiki), who turned 95 just a few days ago. Composed the scores for "Shotgun Slade" and "Roots". Also composed on various episodes of "Star Trek", "Gilligan's Island", "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and "Mission: Impossible". EDIT: Ninja'd by SiT.

Made the mistake of searching his name on Facebook. Wish I hadn't as ppl have posted photos of his corpse. Looks like he was crushed by a huge structure. Didn't stand a chance, but at least he probably died instantly and didn't suffer.

His son has said he doesn’t want to do it according to The Times article linked on the Wiki recent deaths page.
