Inquest into his death reveals that Leslie Jordan died from “cardiac dysfunction” and was dead before his car crashed. Now, I’m no doctor but if they’re certain that he was dead before crashing then it sounds like his aorta may have ruptured, in which case he likely died instantly (Hollywood style if you like) so he wouldn’t have even known he was a goner. At least he didn’t suffer in any way.

Almost an hour later… the U.S. media are useless.

I smell a rat. Until Lady Cecilia Bartholomew confirms I’m calling it a hoax.

Got a Telegraph obit in the end!

They've suspended the search due to adverse weather conditions. He's a goner.

Why does this thread have a dead tag? Barry still breathes. The tag should be removed or say "2/3 dead" or something.

Guardian obit for Nicholas Herbert, 3rd Baron Hemingford (wiki), aged 88. Journalist for The Times and the Cambridge Evening News. He sat as a Crossbench peer in the House of Lords between 1982 and 1999. His second wife was novelist and children's writer Jill Paton Walsh (wiki, 1937–2020)

Sad. Used to work for his company years ago.

Enric Marco (wiki) died on 21 May 2022, aged 101. Obituary here, though it's only just been spotted and added to his Wiki page. Marco was a Catalonian man who wrote books about his treatment as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. He made a lot of money in the process, headed up associations representing survivors and even received awards and honours. Only problem was he was an imposter – he made everything up. Widely covered by international media, including the BBC on occasions, but disappeared into obscurity thereafter.

Haven’t forgotten just haven’t had time to start it yet. That list keeps growing and growing. Not many names are dropping!

An edit today to the wiki page of Italian journalist Sergio Borelli (b. 1923) says he died back on 17 Sep 2021. Somewhat surprising given his prominence. @drol ? EDIT: Never mind. Found an obituary via the Facebook page for his documentary. -
Thought you got me muted Sir Cunto?

This death feels significant. When I joined this forum in 2008 there were plenty of people around who were born in 1907 (the birth year of the new oldest living person).
-
Ah come on man, you can't cheat. Sticking ppl known only for their longevity on your lists, let alone the world's oldest person, is cheating. It has to actually shadow what the [imaginary] "committee" would consider putting on the actual DL.
-
So the top 10 list of world's oldest people becomes pretty boring once again. One point of interest – the world's new oldest living person, María Branyas Morera (b. 4 Mar 1907) will turn 116 in just 1.5 months, and if she sees 116 years, 48 days, she will become the oldest Spaniard ever.

French media report as confirmation.

"She also developed a proposal designed to reduce smoking in Finland by raising cigarette prices by five to 15 percent." Me and her wouldn't have got along very well.
-
Surprised that this hasn't been picked up yet given she was a former minister?

Yes, I saw it on Facebook several days ago and sent it to someone who is working on an obituary for him. -
My understanding of how it works at the Telegraph, Guardian, Times is the obit writers need to pitch obituary ideas to their editors at meetings and get the green light before they can compile one. Some Nobel Prize winners are very interesting – their background, careers and what they actually achieved. Though I would say most are almost instantly forgettable though.

Jesus man, his death was announced 10 hours ago. Give the obituary writers a bloody chance.

Nothing weird about it DI. They tend to make incredibly dull obituaries. Newspapers need to sell copies and survive.
