    Elon Musk

Nowhere near, and never will be. Musk didn’t buy Twitter to make a profit.

    Elon Musk

Disagree with that entirely. Engagement up, users up, bots down, revenue appears to be going up (finally). Twitter has been down before, and it wasn’t a frontrunning BBC News story. The media just seem to love pelting Musk, because he’s controversial.

    Obit as confirmation.

Jean Faut (wiki), arguably the most prominent living player from the AAGPBL, dead at 97 according to this FB post.

    The Stars Of B-cinema

Last surviving cast member of that film (credited or uncredited).

He’s in Belfast today. Good enough for you?

    Betty Boothroyd

As someone who has worked in that arena for 15 years, I can tell you right now he speaks absolute shit 90% of the time.

    Very much fanny friends.

Treatable or curable? They mean very different things in cancer lingo.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Neither of them are obits. They’re bots. Look at the written English, it’s just auto generated.

    Betty Boothroyd

She last voted July 2021, last spoke in chamber Oct 2020. We should have been paying closer attention.

Hmm I think you’re right. Might be a hard task noting those who were missing then.

    Political Frailty

Telegraph obit for Lord Pendry. Definitely prewritten judging by the length of the obit. These obit writers know who’s ill…

    Betty Boothroyd

One of my friends just pointed out that Betty was among a select list of peers who didn’t turn up to swear allegiance to the new monarch. We should have spotted this as it could have given us some insight into her health. I’m out and about right now but if anyone has a way of looking at that session and seeing who else wasn’t there…

We’ve discussed this a million times already.

    Political Frailty

Now that’s interesting. Pendry returned to the Labour whip in the Lords just the other week, having resigned it a while ago… maybe as an anti-Corbyn thing? Guess he wanted to die as a Labour peer rather than a non-affiliate.

    Jimmy Carter

Video won’t play on my phone. What does she say?

Really upset to hear this. Lucky to have met her a few times. She was active until quite recently around Westminster. They don’t make Labour politicians like her anymore.

    Summer Olympic Deaths/Dead Medallists

As soon as I got a notification to say you had quoted me I said to myself "I bet he's about to say I wonder if he will obit". You've become very predictable. Hmmm I wonder... well I know... how about we wait and see?

    Summer Olympic Deaths/Dead Medallists

Bob Richards (wiki), American Olympic gold medalist pole vaulter (1948, 1952, 1956), dead according to his son on Facebook. Turned 97 this week. A unique pick in the DDP.

    Madonna

First of the 8 Ciccone siblings to die. Her mother died aged 33 from breast cancer. Interestingly, both her father and stepmother are alive. He's 92 in June, and she turned 80 this month.

    Charles Manson

Seems to have just been picked up on social media/blogs. NY Times obit will surely follow. Very controversial figure. Many people were disgusted that she received immunity for testifying as a witness. That's a very difficult area of the law and one that makes people feel uncomfortable either way, though her testifying should have meant a significantly reduced sentence IMO, not immunity.
