People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...
Ulitzer95 replied to Vaagheid's topic in DeathList Forum
Too many questions in this but take the example of Taka – the only evidence of her death was an edit to her Wikipedia. A relative had changed their profile picture to a photo of her but that didn’t prove it either. The Hollywood Reporter said that her grandson posted something in tribute to her on 4th January but his account is private so there was no way of us seeing it. So for verifiability purposes, an obit has to appear for us to be certain they’re deceased. That’s how Wikipedia works, as well as news organisations etc. If our standards were held only to that of forum rumours, social media posts and unsourced Wiki edits, then death hoaxes would be believed constantly… and then this forum would be totally useless because there would be no way to ascertain if someone was actually dead or not. And no – it’s not because you’re French (which you seem to mention in every post). French media and newspapers and French Wikipedia hold themselves to the exact same standards. No obit (or at least death record or a post from a reliable source) = no proof that they’re actually dead. -
UK Yahoo obit for Cordeiro.

Honestly, a bizarre response from the family. Annette McCarthy’s son posted a tribute to his mum on Instagram and wrote the same thing – that they’re seeking to shun publicity. A quick glance at Annette’s Facebook reveals she was suffering from cancer since at least 2016, so her death was not exactly unexpected. -
Where’s Henri Paul when you need him?

Tempted to submit an entry to the “letters to the editor” section asking if he can be more specific.

Not a royal I don’t think. He’s an aristocrat.

Updated for the death of Robbie Bachman.

Going to be brutally honest here – her music was shit. And she was married to Michael Jackson. Enough of the sad react emojis you wet blankets.

Grandmother was an alcoholic. Father was a prescription drug addict and had a terrible diet. She has a history of opioid addiction, and I'm willing to bet that when the autopsy comes out she had at least one in her system. So I don't think genetics are the biggest factor here.

Yes, but it can be caused by an unnatural secondary cause (e.g. poisoning, drug overdose).

Harold Brown (wiki) dead at 98. Facebook tribute here from his wife.

She's absolutely bonkers. Everyone in parliament is scared of her. When I worked there you could hear her absolutely screaming at the top of her lungs at her staff... and I worked at the opposite end of the building (albeit same floor). When she worked in Brussels as an MEP, she had the highest staff turnover out of all of the 751 MEPs. One girl lasted 2 days in her office because Vicky didn't like the way she looked at her, and didn't like her jewellery. She used to storm out of meetings, often screaming and shouting and crying. I could go on... she should be nowhere near the corridors of power.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ever met her?

What can I say?

I'm below 35 and I have more work experience on my CV (since I was 15 and in at least 8 different sectors) than a huge chunk of the legislators sitting in our parliament, most of whom are career politicians and have a limited exposure to "the real world". I know in the States you don't think much of and/or distrust younger people, hence why the average age of a U.S. senator is 64, but I can assure you many of us would do a better job.

The Tory Party very recently introduced one in their candidate selection process for future elections. I'd argue that they should've had it years ago but instead the internal candidates board was almost entirely focussed on the ability to debate, write and deliver speeches etc. Would have weeded out a lot of headcases (Vicky Ford, Andrew Bridgen, Julian Knight, Rob Roberts etc) who ultimately became MPs. Labour have the same problem ofc, but not nearly as bad under Starmer as it was under Corbyn. Michael Crick has an interesting page on Twitter covering future parliamentary candidates and they all seem to be relatively sane in comparison to some who currently occupy the seats on the green benches!

I would actually lower the minimum to 30 and not add a maximum. It’s not about age, it’s about cognitive ability. Candidates for President should have to sit a simple competency test. Technically you can get dementia in your 40s or be a nutjob at any age.

Thanks @Pop Declogs. I've updated his English Wikipedia page. Though this should have gone in the Off the Radar or DACH List threads.

There's always names missing from Wikipedia. They don't allow names to be added if the source is a forum, even if it's the 110 Club. So I wouldn't trust the number on Wiki.

After the deaths of Benedict XVI and Constantine II, there are 10 living former sovereign monarchs (if you exclude the Andorran co-princes). List here. Youngest turns 68 this year, oldest turns 94. All will obit.

May have been a wise decision to drop. Spoke to the Guardian earlier about Gerry O'Hara and they said they won't be running an obituary due to a big backlog of showbiz type obits (most of which have already been published online but haven't yet appeared in print). News to me they were still printing the Guardian but whatever!
