    Dying Off The Radar

@Gooseberry Crumble, there’s a more recent post on Facebook from 25 December 2022 confirming Dimmick is alive. She lives in Doncaster East, an area of Manningham, Victoria. In September 2015, both Marian (alternatively spelt Marion) and her husband John were hospitalised with flu. The local paper said that she was 82 then. So she’s turning 89 or 90 this year.

Full Telegraph and Guardian obits for Weldon. The extent to which they're prepped would suggest the media were anticipating her death.

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

Interesting that she wasn't picked in 2022, but was picked this year. Did somebody spot the big banner on the front page of her website? "Dear Friends and Colleagues, I’ve been out of touch for a long time, for which, my apologies. I have been hospitalised for much of the last year, first with a broken bone in my back and then with a stroke, therefore my silence. I am mostly recovered, encouraged by the thought of Andrew Marr, who had a stroke and is now back to normal. He has the advantage, of course, of comparative youthfulness. In the meanwhile, I have left my husband and am divorcing him. Considering everyone else’s troubles this year, my own are mere hiccoughs. I am now safely with my family. Best wishes to all, Fay Weldon."

Already spotted that, and I just redirected one to the other. Crazy that it went unnoticed for so long!

    Summer Olympic Deaths/Dead Medallists

Yes, I can help @Canadian Paul with one of these (if he's even still reading this). Eddie Bowey (wiki) is dead. Eddie Bowey's real name was Edwin Bowey as per Olympedia. They have his DOB as 5 Jan 1926. A quick glance at FreeBMD reveals that there was only one Edwin Bowey born between 1920 and 1930: Eddie Bowey b. 1928, Edmonton, London A glance at the GRO Index reveals his fate – Edwin Bowey b. 1928 d. Q2/2016, Enfield, London. A further search in 192.com shows an Edwin "Eddie" Bowey at a London address... until he falls off the register in 2016.

    James Whale

There is no committee. Paul goes to the pub with a couple of mates, or perhaps just his missus, and they write up a list of names in 15 mins off the top of their head. Whale’s omission wasn’t intentional. Paul was about to write his name down then Mrs Bearer distracted him with “What about Robert Wagner?” and he forgot to write Whale down. The idea that a group of ppl carefully plans out an annual list that is always either shit or mediocre is laughable. There is no “committee”. Can ending this myth be our collective resolution for 2023?

James Hewitt and Princess Diana weren’t even introduced to one another until Harry was a toddler. I’m not sure why ppl but into this Hewitt nonsense. He looks like a spitting image of Charles.
