Sorry, quoted the wrong post! Meant to quote your one from the Beauty Queens thread.

Gets quite the complimentary Telegraph obit. I think many nowadays just knew him as an old crank, but the obit reveals a long history of interactions with significant events, incl. with Donald Trump (who he initially quarrelled with but the two later became friends) and Roy Jenkins.

Would have scored a QO from The Telegraph. Definitely somebody at that publication reading this forum.

James Frankland, 18th Baron Zouche (wiki), British hereditary peer, dead at 79. Conservative member of the House of Lords from 1965 until 1999.

Robert Brown's Wiki has been edited to say that he died in Ojai, California on September 19, 2022 (aged 95). Can anyone find any confirmation of this?

I don't know but according to the Minnesota birth records, she was born March 20, 1929, so Wikipedia and IMDb are a year out.

Paul R. Ingram, born July 1945. Moved from Olympia, Washington to Reedsport in the neighbouring state of Oregon in 1998. Was still living there in 2020 according to the most recent records I can find.

I reckon she could very well be alive, but if she does die we likely won't find out. Next to nothing on social media or Google about her. My last resort was using the British Newspaper Archive, and there were a few interesting results. She made the front page of The Mirror in 1964 after landing the gig with Henry Mancini. All it says is that she was then living in a flat in Paddington but was due to move to the States. The other results are from local publications in Torquay, Devon from 1958. They simply she's quite young (probably ~18-20?) and refer to her as being a soprano. Likely she was from Devon originally.

That man always gives me the utter creeps.

Let Quim provide context first before you jump to conclusions.

I see a rapid cognitive decline from the alert well spoken VP of the Obama years. I think he’ll be a good punt for circa 2025.

Can you add some to this one too?

Another “joke”? Just a symptom of his stammer?

Didn't take long. Times obit for Dr. Marks.

He was quite a character / nutter, though always found him to be an alright guy. Tried to gatecrash the Scottish Conservative conference about 10 years ago by climbing over the wall. Stopped by the police and he proclaimed “But I’m an MSP!!”. Cancer. Only diagnosed 5 weeks ago too.
-
He was invited and reported to be going, including by the BBC, but to my knowledge didn't attend. Attenborough and the Queen were very good friends and he sounded heartbroken when he was speaking about her on radio after she died. As to why he didn't attend... I have no idea.

Modernist architect and Aussie rules footballer Raymond Jones (wiki) dead at 97. Just 12 out of 55 from that 2016 list still alive now.

This wet wipe delivering a Labour landslide? C'mon now... I'm certainly no fan of Mr. Blair, but credit where it is due... his leadership made the 1997 landslide (as opposed to just discontent with the incumbent Conservative government). By comparison to today, there is no real enthusiasm for the Labour Party as an alternative.

So, with consideration to Charles III's coronation (which should in theory be in May/June of next year), will the peers play the same role they did in the past I wonder? It used to be the case that all peers would attend to pay homage to the next monarch, but given that peers have a much smaller role within society now, will the same protocol follow how it was done 70 years ago? Another question... we now have life peers (since 1958). They didn't exist prior to the Queen's coronation. Will they play a role? Expecting it will be cut back somewhat due to limits on capacity and costs, but I imagine it will be a good opportunity for form spotting. A lot of prime gammon there no doubt.

The GRO Index is back up. These individuals were born in the 1930s, so not him.

Local obit as confirmation. Quite an incredible guy. I expect a QO will follow at some point (though he wasn't a DDP pick). Not many doctors still around from the foundation of the NHS in 1948, though surgeon Harold Ellis CBE (wiki) is 97 in January and one to watch.
