I think some ppl were expecting grief, North Korea style. That just ain’t our thang.

    Hollywood Possibilities

Probably the NY Times. When you go through their archives you find 1000s of historical articles loaded with incorrect ages, DOBs etc. including a lot of obituaries.

    Hollywood Possibilities

I do believe The Independent are actually correct. If you look at the history of her Wiki page, there was some edit warring in the past over her year of birth, before 1926 just became "accepted". There are no birth records for her on Ancestry, as she is Greek, but there are Passenger and Crew Lists that record her from November 1962 and December 1962. They both state that Irene Papas / Irene Lelekou Papa was born on 3 September 1929...

Interesting. They report that she was 93, not 96.

    Academic Footnotes

British classicist Joyce Reynolds (wiki) has died aged 103. One of her students was Dame Mary Beard (wiki). A DDP pick for 3 teams. Guaranteed to get a QO imo. A pity we can't get confirmation of the death of actress Joyce Reynolds (wiki) who is also a pick. It would probably spawn an obit somewhere, and we could have a DDP Joyce Reynolds double

    Queen Elizabeth II

Guessing you’ve collected this “fact” from Twitter as I’ve seen it banded round there quite a bit. Reality is there are 1000s being left every day but they’re clearing them off every 12 hours to create space. The flowers are being moved to a tribute garden at the back of the main Palace. When Diana died, the flowers were simply left to pile up.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2023

Got your answer @msc. It’s her husband, Sir Christopher Nugee (wiki), 63, and a current Court of Appeal judge.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2023

I have no idea @msc, sorry. There are over 700 Rt. Honourables currently alive. Only 200 were allowed at the ceremony so they drew lots.** For that reason, it wasn’t the best event for form spotting. ** Worth noting though that some were automatically admitted, for example all former and current first ministers and leaders of the opposition. They were all there to my knowledge, minus Corbyn who likely snubbed it, cos he’s a republican, and a cunt.

I will try and help you but provide me with a pic first. Am I fuck going on BBC iPlayer and watching through the whole sodding ceremony again.

Lord John McFall, the new Speaker of the House of Lords. Used to be a Scottish Labour MP. Left Labour several years ago and sat as an Independent. Lovely man.

    Deadpool Detective Work

It's nonsense. Not listed in the GRO Index, which would now be complete for 2015. Not to mention, he's a Doctor Who actor of some prominence. His death wouldn't go unnoticed.

    The Chequered Flag

Sir Jackie Stewart was on Sky News earlier paying tribute to the Queen, as they were close friends and she'd often visit him and his family at their home. 83 and looking/sounding awful. Definitely one to consider for deadpools sooner rather than later.

    Queen Elizabeth II

@Windsor, seriously ignore the cretin. He/she/it has been a member who has lurked here since 2014 but has had nothing constructive to contribute then all of a sudden comes out from underneath his/her/its rock when they see an opportunity to grab some attention. A very sad day indeed but it hasn't sunk in yet. Barely any of us in the UK have lived in a time without her. It will sink in within the weeks to come as tributes continue and she lays in state, with the state funeral that will follow. From a DL/DDP perspective, I wonder if this will cause a flurry of deaths to follow in the coming weeks/months? A lot of people of the Queen's generation held her very dear to their hearts. I remember my late gran (also born 1926), who passed in 2016, would pretty much always refer to events of the past, the war etc. with passing mentions of the Her Majesty. For them, the loss of the monarch during this time must hit very hard indeed. I'm thinking of Leslie Phillips, Sir David Attenborough, Dame Angela Lansbury, Stanley Baxter etc.

Lord Sudeley (wiki) dead at 83. Author, member of the House of Lords from 1960 to 1999, and a champion of controversial causes. A prominent member of the Conservative Monday Club. Telegraph obit.

Not in the GRO up to December 2021, so still living at 105 it would seem.

    The 100 Club

Finally uncovered a new death in the GRO Index. James Elwood (wiki) died in the last quarter of 2021. ELWOOD, JAMES STANLEY 1921 GRO Reference: DOR Q4/2021 in GLOUCESTERSHIRE (488-1C) Entry Number 523203363 Not entirely sure if he reached centenarian status or not (he was born around December). Unsurprisingly, given his notoriety, there were no death notices anywhere. A probate search gives a death date of 13 December 2021. More than likely he did reach his centenary. If anyone can track down a DOB, you're a hero (unlike Elwood, who killed people).
