You know I'm a male. And yes, I am calling you a liar.

I don't think dragon is problematic. Both men and women have been termed dragons, particularly those in the business world, and it can be complimentary or insulting in equal measures. Same with "pig" – men and women are labelled with that all the time. Where I draw the line is when a term is used, and it's only ever pinged at women, because then it's not just a joke or criticism of their behaviour, character, lifestyle etc., it also has a subliminal tinge of sexism.

Political Discussions And Ranting Thread

Seems to be a growing list of incumbent MPs announcing they're not going to contest another General Election. Disproportionate amount of Labour names so far, and a few big hitters (Harman, Bradshaw, Hodge, Winterton). Corbyn will have to step down in Islington as well as there's no way he'll be readmitted to the Labour Party. Easy target, that's why. Permissible when it's royalty or politicians or celebrities you don't like? I'm not even a woman, and I feel a little disturbed coming on here and seeing men of a particular age (and it's almost always the men on here in the 40/50+ bracket) calling women they're not keen on bitches/cows/horses – words you cannot and wouldn't apply to men. Is it any wonder we have few female members...

Article is about her speaking at a reception commemorating International Women's Day, and you come out with that. Bravo. Don't get this calling women "horses" thing. People do it with Sarah Jessica Parker and Heather Mills as well. Would you say a man looks like a horse? Never heard anyone use that comparison, so it's just pure misogyny really.

Meh. I mean, let’s be 100% honest here, that’s what she’s MOST known for.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...
Ulitzer95 replied to Vaagheid's topic in DeathList Forum
You'd be shocked to learn how many families try and announce the death of somebody notable via Wikipedia and don't do anything else. It's always very awkward pinging them with a message saying "sorry for your loss, but you can't break it here". -

If this is true, that's a shock. He was a very recognisable face from Emmerdale. I never watched it but I remember him playing Bernard on Queer as Folk! -
Calling bullshit on this one. It's been a week, and although the Viscount Falmouth and his family are very private, there would be a death notice in a broadsheet now for any Earl or Viscount. Problem on Wikipedia was 2 experienced users continued to edit his page and created a new page for the presumed 10th Viscount, after an anonymous IP edited his page to say he had died. They did this without confirmation of his death, which is somewhat embarrassing. Given that these users frequently edited aristocrat type pages, it seemed safe to assume they were in the know. Both users now admit they just believed the initial edit from the anonymous IP. I will scrub the initial post later once this has been read.

If in doubt, check Facebook out. Here are two pics of her from May 2021, uploaded by friends. She looks fine in both of them. Granted, they're 10 months old, so she could've had a sudden downturn in health, OR she's completely fine and like a lot of celebs, simply opted to stop signing shit after decades of doing it. In her case, once she reached 90 (like John Williams also did).

Naissance Nom Berger Prénom(s) Simone Marie Jeanne Sexe Féminin Date 16/09/1923 Commune Paris 13e Arrondissement (75113) Département 75 Pays France (FRA) Décès Date 29/03/2020 Age 96 ans Commune La Bruffière (85039) Département 85 Pays France (FRA) Acte n° 9 Source INSEE fichier 2020, ligne n°163038 This record is more likely to be her. The first name, DOB and place of birth all match, BUT in order to prove it, you'd have to find a source that confirms her middle names or that her married surname was Berger. There just isn't much out there on this subject at all.

I seriously doubt that. If you look at pictures of her from the 1940s/50s, she's only a young starlet! If you search the BnF newspaper archives there seems to be more results, including this one. So she was 25 in September 1949, meaning that she was born 1923/1924.

This is the only newspaper clipping I can find about her. I can't speak French so somebody else will need to look at it and say if there's any useful info in there (e.g. location, husband etc.).

Indeed. Though he was told it would be a complete shot in the dark, and he chose to go along with it anyway. Still, he lasted for 2 months. In 1964 they tried the same procedure with a chimpanzee heart, and the patient died within hours.

John Parlett (wiki), British Olympic and Empire Games runner, being reported dead at 96 on Twitter. His wife, fellow Olympian Dorothy Manley, died last year aged 94. She was a DDP pick then (and a hit). He hasn't been picked this year.

Obit from Columbia University's Department of Statistics. -
Got to feel bad for him, it's truly awful going through that at such a young age. Sadly doesn't seem like he has long left. Loads of us didn't buy the "improving" stories at the end of last year and it seems we were correct to be sceptical.

It works fine on my Safari, however it's not a news link. It's an auto generated "news" article/bot that's scraped info from Twitter, so your browser has likely identified it's spam and blacklisted it.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Updated Desert Island Discs 50s/60s surviving guests list for 2021–2022 passings. Not much change... just 5 in 14 months, including Robbie Brightwell. This lot don't seem to be in any rush to die and Leslie Phillips seems to be determined to survive everyone else... -
Robbie Brightwell MBE (wiki) not in such decent shape now as he's died aged 82. Silver medalist sprinter for GB at Tokyo 1964. Also won two silver medals at the Commonwealth Games in Perth in '62. Not picked in this year's DDP. Pity, because I'd be surprised if he didn't pull an obit.

Full times obit for Lee Everett Alkin. A brilliant read if you have a subscription. Cause of death given as cancer.
