    Academic Footnotes

Ted Cowan (wiki), Scottish historian, dead at 77 from lung cancer. Present at the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 1999. Would be good to see a comprehensive list of all those who had a part in the ceremony. I note Sean Connery was there (who obviously died not too long back) and Winnie Ewing is surely away to kick the bucket. Anyone else we should be watching? Times obit.

    Betty White

The Golden Girls, as I stated on an earlier post, is genius and I recommend it to anyone. Yet I still don't get the whole "Saint Betty" stuff. A tad weird, and a bit creepy(?) as well. I think it's because she had this persona of a nice, friendly, and funny old lady so people really warmed to her, but Toast hits the nail on the head with that post above. It's the arrogance from others. This attitude of "I love her and therefore you must love her too or else", which is rather baffling.

    Dying Off The Radar

Did Berniece Baker Miracle (wiki), Marilyn Monroe's half-sister die off radar? Yes, in 2014 (aged 94–95). Photo there of her grave "Berniece Miracle" with her husband's (Paris Miracle). Other sites online mention her husband by name and its an exact match. Residency sites like Spokeo and Clustrmaps also have no record of her residence beyond the mid-2010s, where she was last recording as living in North Carolina (which neighbours Kentucky) so that too would back up the FindAGrave page, even though the picture itself is strong enough evidence in itself IMO. Oh dear. Just shows why you shouldn't trust clickbait "news" sites like this, which claim she's still alive without first hand confirmation. Bad news for @John Key who has her in the Centenarian Deadpool this year, and to anyone who may have picked her on the DDP.

    Betty White

Still a more relevant and interesting conversation than where the majority of discussion resides on this forum – the Boris Johnson, Prince Andrew, Joe Biden, Donald Trump or Kier Starmer threads, which, if I really wanted to indulge myself in, I'd go to Twitter or Facebook where all of the world's most prestigious self-appointed armchair experts reside.

You posted the first sentence at the same time of your "edit". Who are you trolling, us or yourself?

    Betty White

Most people in NZ don't know who the President of the U.S. is? Calling b/s on that one I'm afraid. But it's an absolute fact that 90% of Brits (or anyone in any other country outside of the U.S. for that matter) won't know who Betty White is. She's not a household name internationally like Meryl Streep, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie or Arnold Schwarzenegger. That was my point, and you appear to have taken offence at the fact I have critiqued Saint Betty.

    Betty White

Not really true though, is it? I mean the response from myself, Toast and several other users on here was "meh". In fact, on NYE I was at a party here in London, and one of the Canadians there exclaimed "Oh my god. Betty White just died!!" and most of the Brits there responded with "Who??".

    UK Singles Chart

Updated for the death of Rosa Lee Hawkins. Died from surgical complications it seems. Weirdly neither sister ever married. They lived together and stated they were "married to showbiz". Rosa did have a son and grandchildren though. Only Barbara Ann Hawkins left now.

    UK Singles Chart

Updated for the death of Ronnie Spector (then Ronnie Bennett). Very sad news. Just Nedra Talley, 76 this month, remains now.

Died January 11, 2021 (the FB post you quoted says the same).

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

This is an interesting case. His death has finally been accepted on Wiki as per the source here. It says he died from cancer. What it doesn't say is what users on Reddit have been discussing – he had a 13 year cancer battle and then shot himself in the head at the end of it.

Of all the SP references, the episode where they rip on Honey Boo Boo (and she gets a pig heart transplant) is definitely the most apt here

    British Character Actors

That article is from 2014. Last credit on IMDb is from 4 years ago. Her last tweet was in August 2021. She turned 99 five months ago, and yet still hasn't updated her bio on Twitter from "98 year old" to "99 year old". Doesn't sound too active to me. I will add her on my "one to watch" list.

Website is blocked in Europe. One of the reasons, among others, why you should add a little context to your posts rather than just dump links.

    Political Frailty

In the UK, pretty irrelevant. In order of where the story is listed on news apps here, it's 12th on the BBC News and the 18th on Sky News. I don't think it will even be on their main grid by tonight. I must confess, never heard of Sassoli. I stopped paying any attention to EU politics around 2017 when the UK formally left, and back then Martin Schulz was President of the Parliament, someone who I have met before.

    R Dean Taylor

His Wiki page has been reverted again. SoulTracks not a reliable source to some editors it seems I mean, it’s never not been reliable in all other cases on there in the past. Though I suppose SoulTracks do nothing to help themselves with the old fashioned blog type layout and their lack of details (eg they never include the date of death, even when it’s available elsewhere). I’m not sure if much else will come. The interest seems to have waned already.

This “sad news for the Queen” shite that the tabloid press keep pushing every time someone she knows dies is becoming tiring, and just as silly as the “Sad Last Days” Enquirer headlines. The Queen literally has thousands of people who have made some kind of impact in her life. So many that it’s almost impossible for a normal person to comprehend in their mind, because she’s shook more hands and had more 2 minute conversations than anyone else in the entire country, ever (maybe even the world). The death of her sister’s lady of the robes and an obscure journalist is the type of shite that will make her say “oh dear, that’s a pity”, not something that’s going to set her back. All of her close family and confidantes are younger than her. Their deaths WOULD affect her. Now if someone like Charles predeceased, that probably see her out, but it’s not likely to happen.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2023

Welcome! Great first post. I agree. Nichelle seems like the natural choice as the next faller from the original Star Trek series.

Do you have anything constructive to contribute on here? You don't even report any deaths anymore, or even discuss anything. You just moan at other members and post sarcastic taunts. Seriously, go have a wank or something if you need to release some steam.
