Hmmmm... 3 of DL's picks born within 2 weeks of one another. A hat trick to come?
-
As I thought, she's totally crushed by his death:
-
Welcome back CP! You've been very absent these past years, don't be a stranger!
-
Yes. The public image of famous ppl really tells you very little about their actual character. Some are very good actors and invent whole new personalities for themselves when the cameras are rolling. As the saying goes folks, never meet your heroes etc etc
-
I’ll pass that on next time I see him down at the local, Windsor. He’s actually a very good bloke, whatever you think of his political views. Instantly welcomes chat with strangers, and there are few ppl in the limelight who are that friendly. Some are total nobs full stop. A few MPs come to mind. Jess Phillips is one. Her personable public image is a facade. Tory MP Tom Tugendhat is another cunt. Steve Coogan and Su Pollard are to date the worst though. One of my mates asked Coogan for a photo and he told him to fuck off.
-
Dromey never looked a picture of health. Another who doesn’t is Farage. Looks like he could go any minute in all honesty. He revealed on GBNews last night that he had testicular cancer in the past. Was that public knowledge before now?
-
The joke amongst Tory MPs was always that Dromey was the first ever male elected from an all women’s short list, which is technically true as his seat was designated as one, but nepotism trumps tokenism so
-
I doubt it. The Tories have been targeting that seat for years. If it didn’t come to then in 2019, it probably never will. And let’s face it, they’re not anyone’s cup of tea right now, even if their polling position has recovered slightly in the past week.

Are you clickbaiting us? "Elective medical procedure" is planned/routine surgery, not a "hospitalisation" in the sense of how we understand that word i.e. has had a heart attack or stroke etc.

Given that Sidney Poitier was Oprah Winfrey's hero, I imagine she'll be unconsolable. All her Twitter feed seems to be nowadays is paying tribute to ppl she knew who have died. Jacqueline Avant, Desmond Tutu, Betty White, and now Poitier. Is the Reaper warming up to her?
-
Poitier was the last surviving male star of AFI'S 100 Years... 100 Stars. Sophia Loren (b. 1934) is now the last name standing.
-
Sidney Poitier KBE 1/50

I don't think I agree with this. My dad is in his mid-70s and his health is fucked. He's just had the new COVID strain and he was absolutely fine, just had a little sniffle. It's a game of genetics in many instances. If Engelbert was fine with the much stronger delta variant, he'll be fine with a cold-like strain. Bronchial issues or not.
-
Just Add COVID.
-
Called it! I should've taken my own advice and stuck him on my DDP team.
-
That's incredibly unlikely.

November 8, 1951.

Hands down biggest death of 2022 so far, but still not exactly the most "household-type" name. Come on universe, go one better...

Thanks for that! Also found this. It confirms it and states she died from Alzheimer's (in the "touch-up" section). -

Not many Filipino names left on my list of people born up to 1926 now. There were dozens when I started it in '08. The survivors: Avelina Gil (wiki, b. 1917) writer Whang-od (wiki, b. 1917) tattoo artist Josefina Constantino (wiki, b. 1920) essayist and poet Rosalia Merino Santos (wiki, b. 1923) dancer and choreographer Juan Ponce Enrile (wiki, b. 1924) President of the Senate, 2008–2013 Magdalena Gamayo (wiki, b. 1924) weaver Virginia Ty-Navarro (wiki, b. 1924) sculptor Eugenia Apostol (wiki, b. 1925) publisher Amelita Ramos (wiki, b. 1926) First Lady, 1992–1998 -
Oh just lock it Paul!

Times obit gives us the answer that we were looking for last month – he was born on 2 May 1923 in Kensington, London (as one of 9 children). Weirdly I still can't find this record on FreeBMD! Also states he was survived by his wife Donna and all of his four children. Arsenal fan. Interestingly, it says he was responsible for Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott using Almeira, Spain for Hollywood filming locations (he supposedly called them up and encouraged them to, as he lived in retirement there).
-
I'm amazed that they're all still around tbh.

Her Wikipedia page seems to attract regular vandalism. Can’t understand why? Is she controversial? Maybe one of our Murican cousins can explain.
