Because some teams get sent in way too early. Less picks will die prematurely in 16 days than in 31 days. Duh.
-
Surely you guys would give yourself less last minute work if you shortened the window period of entries from Dec 1–Dec 31 to Dec 15–Dec 31? Half a month is long enough for every one to get their teams in.

I wonder if we'll have a Frank Field double on the DDP this coming year? Meteorologist Frank Field (wiki) is 99 in March and could get a Mail or Yahoo UK obit.
-
Well at least he'll adapt well to 2022 life, having had good experience at implementing lockdowns in the past...

Hmmm.. Dad's Army actor Gordon Peters (wiki) appeared in the Croft and Perry podcast in October. 96 next year and complaining that his memory is going. Worth watching.
-
And this, boys and girls, is why you don't submit your DDP teams until the 30th or 31st December

I thought she had been mentioned on here before by drol or arghton but the search engine is turning up nada. Fatima Kuinova (wiki), Tajik singer, dead one day after her 101st birthday, according to her family on Facebook.
-
William Moncrief (wiki), American oil tycoon and billionaire, dead at 101.

It's in my "notes" for the Wiki pages I need to tackle in the future. It's based on an edit summary on the history of his Wiki page. There are records on Ancestry which tend to match those claims, but in order to edit the page, I'd need to find a source which ties them together. Likely it's accurate. Obscure pages don't tend to get that kind of vandalism.

Bartha supposedly died in March 1991.

That’s not true. I do talk a lot of shit, but I’ll take the compliment!

Telegraph death announcement for Árpád Pusztai (wiki), Hungarian-born British biochemist whose concerns over genetically modified potatoes and the effects on the body caused the Pusztai affair in 1998. He died at his home in Aberdeen on December 17th, aged 91. Picked in the DDP last in 2014 (d'oh!). -
This is the photo on John Prescott's listing on the DDP. Am I missing the joke here?

That is not what I said.

Harry Reid is known to most ppl in the UK who have even a mild level of interest in US politics. He's also known very well among UFO enthusiasts. Reid featured on J J Abram's new "UFO" documentary series on Netflix just a few months ago. He had fought for sometime for the U.S. Gov to release classified information on the subject. John McCain was another person pushing for this. Without them, the cause has lost two of its most prominent champions.

Ashley and Madden take us to 270. 8 needed. Unless we have a crazy couple of days, that record isn't going to be smashed.

Another big last minute faller. Telegraph breaking the news of the death of model, actress and author April Ashley MBE (wiki), aged 86. The second Britain ever to have gender reassignment surgery in 1960 (which subsequently led to her marriage being annulled in the Corbett v. Corbett case of 1969). A pick for two teams in the DDP.

The irony being they are science presenters/writers. The La Monde article says both twins were hospitalised on 15th December with the disease. It doesn't state whether Igor has been discharged or not... Hmm could be easy DDP points if he's still in ICU with it. -
Leslie Phillips. Just before the bells he’ll go ding dong dead.
-
You’re spunking the legitimacy of your whole argument up the wall going off on one about Bill Gates Sr, rather than successfully trying to establish a case of notability for Katie Price’s mum.
-
Talking about hypotheticals of “had he never had a famous son” is pointless. He’s famous in his own right. Jack, Kelly and Sharon only became known personalities because of Ozzy Osbourne. They’re still famous in their own right. I trust the ppl running the DDP to use good judgment in measuring fame but if anyone is submitting names and wants a benchmark, then pose the question “would they be permitted a Wikipedia page in their own right”? In the case of Bill Gates Sr, Philippe de Gaulle, even Marilyn Monroe’s living half sister (who is noted for her memoirs), the answer is yes. In the instance of Katie Price’s mum who got invited on to daytime telly to talk about tit surgery, the answer is blatantly no.

Not by today’s standards sadly. There are more people alive who have heard of Gates over de Gaulle. I suggested Philippe de Gaulle last year for DL as he would’ve been an easy hit… or at least I thought… they reported in 2020 that he was too ill to attend a major WWII ceremony… and yet he’s still alive. We need to find out more on his health.
