Seriously, trying to bend the anti-FFBI rules is really bad form. I was once invited on to Blue Peter to talk about a local charity effort. It didn’t make me a fucking philanthropist of note.
-
Bill Gates Sr. was a noted philanthropist and attorney. A quick glance of his Wikipedia tells you he was notable for reasons other than having a more famous son. Amy Price is just the mother of some tart, and is FFBI with the same lung disease that killed Keith Chegwin. She’s not notable in her own right by any stretch of the imagination.

A veteran of the D-Day landings and the third oldest-living former MP. His death leaves just 3 living former MPs who served in WWII – Sir Patrick Duffy, Baroness Jill Knight and Ben Ford. I know so little about their current state of health I’m not in a position to say who will be the last one standing. Not Duffy though.

Janice Long's death revealed by The Telegraph to be pneumonia. Reportedly sudden and unexpected. Worth noting her brother, Keith Chegwin, died aged 60 from a lung disease which was likely caused by his 60-cigs-a-day habit. Given her brown teeth, you got to wonder...

Also me. Several reliable sources refer to him as the late. The 1993 year comes from this blog (a non-Wiki friendly source), which mentions a plaque honouring his life.

The source was added by me. The website looks like it's experiencing downtime. Here's a cached version of the source.

I suppose they should given that they're a UK-wide media organisation. Though I don't think it will help many ppl. They're 6 months old and their website is still a bit primitive and doesn't have many written news stories. They're actually pretty good for raising and discussing the lives of recently deceased ppl on their broadcasting. They covered Jack Hedley the other day, and have done the same with a few other character actor types and ppl who didn't get covered on the Beeb (e.g. Clarissa Eden), but broadcast news bulletins don't count in the DDP, do they?
-
Hmm interesting that they're giving the cause of death as prostate cancer. He was diagnosed with it in 1997.

There are hundreds of posts reporting him dead on FB, many from reputable sources within the art world. Some were as long ago as 12 hours. I think it's a Janice Long situation – poor timing of death on or around Christmas Day. The U.S. media will likely pick up on it when it gets to evening time over there. Maybe the NY Times will come straight in with an obit?
-
Absolutely. I'm not much of an art wonk. What I know I learnt from my dad, but Thiebaud is massive in the art world.
-
Yes, him or the oldest person in the UK title holder. That was another surprise.

Ian St. John Rush Limbaugh Carlos Menem Leon Spinks Larry King Murray Walker Beverly Cleary Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh Norman Lloyd Abdelaziz Bouteflika Jimmy Greaves Sarah Harding Bob Dole Desmond Tutu 14/50 I reckon that's me done for the year. Not as good as I had hoped, but at least I beat DL's weak 2021 list (and I did it using only names who are of a DL level). Hoping the "committee" listen to users more in 2022.

Revised my list to drop Elizabeth II – her Christmas message and the sheer extensiveness of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for February–June 2022 and beyond weakens her credibility as a pick IMO. I've added Frankie Valli instead, as it sounds like he's very touch and go/potentially close to the end.

It was likely cancer from the clues there. @The Old Crem

This is all getting very weird. Janice hasn’t tweeted since October. Her last interaction was liking a Marie Curie cancer post about dying. I also note she has been absent from her radio programme as they’re using a “stand in” atm, who is due to fill in for her over the coming weeks as well. All of this would suggest that even if she hasn’t died, she’s sick. There are quite a few accounts on Twitter and Facebook who are claiming she’s still alive, one going as far as saying she will enjoy reading all the tributes to her.
-
Still active and giving interviews etc. There are much stronger candidates surely?
-
BBC's annual in memoriam video is up on iPlayer, available here. Very well done this year, and it would appear they've finally acknowledged the death of Clarissa Eden.

Tina seems to be doing pretty well. There’s a 2021 face to face interview of her on YouTube. Another few years left I reckon.

I think the point others are trying to hint at concerns the fact that many of the individuals you're posting about are barely notable, and nobody knows who they are. Many don't even have Wikipedia pages, others only have a handful of very minor credits within film or television etc. When posting, it's important to consider what's going to be of interest to other users on here, and also remember that everyone reads the Deaths in 2021 page on Wikipedia, so if something has been sat on there for hours or even days, we've likely seen it already. Just be a little more measured when posting. -

Not Agata Lys too?! This is turning out to be the worst day for celebrity deaths ever!! I am inconsolable. -
As a lefty I’d thought you’d have lots of time for Charles.
-
If that’s the criteria the committee ought to pick Janey Godley too.
