    The Dead of 2021

Will an obituary for Hard in today's Times cheer you up?

    Activists

Telegraph obit for Linda Whetstone, aged 79, campaigner for free markets (and also a well-known figure in the dressage world in a separate career). I knew Linda pretty well. She died suddenly whilst speaking at a libertarian event in Miami last week. I'm absolutely blown away by the sheer amount of coverage she's received across social media and the wider web. I imagine in part due to her brilliant mind, but also because she was a very lovely lady.

    UK Singles Chart

Updated. I hope something a little more concrete surfaces for P. Mitchell so I can fill in his stats. Float on is a brilliant song. One of those ones that grows on you after you've heard it a few times.

    Dead Pop Stars

That song is incredibly annoying. Quite an amusing interview of them from Oct 1997, below. They thought they were en route to producing the next "Thriller". Oh to be 17 and full of confidence! Very sad that he has died aged just 42 and leaves behind a young family. Awful time of year for them too.

BBC Sport obit for Adam Rosen.

    The 100 Club

Shirley Zussman (wiki), American sex therapist, being reported dead at 107 by the NY Times. She was still seeing patients until her retirement at 105. An unusual case where subject was an extreme age and had a Wikipedia page for years, but because it wasn't categorised, barely anyone knew it existed. A pity, because she would've got a QO via The Sun! Her sister died in 2016, aged 104, so presumably it's the genes, and not all the shagging that kept them alive for so long.

    Political Frailty

George Gekas (wiki), Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Pennsylvania from 1983 until his electoral defeat in 2003, dead at 91.

    U.S. Political Figures over 85

Hans Mark (wiki), U.S. Secretary of the Air Force (1979–1981) under both Carter and Reagan, dead at 92.

Nah, it’s both. Purple drank has contributed to quite a few for example.

    The Dead of 2021

Actually you're right. She's still on List of the Lost for some reason (even though she's also on the page for the list of hits). So just one then OoO – Leslie Brown.

    The Dead of 2021

Leslie Brown and Jeannette Altwegg. That's all, unless there are several others who have not been added on to the List of the Lost yet?

    Political Frailty

Ed van Thijn (wiki), Dutch politician and Mayor of Amsterdam (1983–1994), dead at 87.

I said pretty certain. He was born in 1926 and nothing has been heard from him in years. It’s likely he died off radar. Odds of an American male born in 1926 reaching 95+ are less than 5%. If I’ve learnt anything from being on this forum in 14 years, it’s that if they’re 90+ and we haven’t heard from them in decades then odds are they’re deceased.

Pretty certain William Glover is deceased.

    Silent Era People

Anonymous forum post – not at all reliable. Besides, that was almost 11 years ago now. Odds of him being alive are incredibly slim.

    Billy Connolly

Starting to receive a bit of coverage now. STV. Scottish Sun. Daily Record.

    Deadpool Detective Work

I still think she's 99% likely dead. Last credit was 1967. I can't find any evidence of her being alive in recent decades. The idea that there is a soon-to-turn 109 year old former actress still alive and nobody has covered her once is farfetched. This case has striking similarities to that of Margie Hines, Dusty Anderson and Jeanne Manet, whereby because they were listed on several websites without death dates, many came to presume they were still alive, when in reality they had all died years before. FTR though, I did look for you on Ancestry, Geni etc. I couldn't find anything else under this new name. BNF thinks she died in the 20th century. I tend to agree.

Is this your letter response? She seems to be very active in corresponding with autograph hunters. Great sense of humour too... "There can't be many of us from "101 Dalmatians" still 'above the soil' so to speak". Love it!!

Updated for the death of Uttley. At the time of his death, he was the last remaining original member still in the band.

That tag line doesn’t work. Living to 102 is pretty “Luckey”.

    Dead Drummers

That’s absolute bullshit. Edit: In fact, you should know it’s bs because a number of the Brits on here have discussed Devo in detail before.

    Disc Jockeys

Well this is a shock. Pete Murray (wiki) to return to radio on Boxing Day aged 96, after retiring 19 years ago. Looks pretty good in that recent pic. I now anticipate several last minute drops on the DDP!

    Queen Elizabeth II

The London trip was last week wasn't it? She seems to have lost the walking stick, which is positive. Perhaps her back issues are improving/gone? Edit: Forgot about this. The Duchess of Grafton's funeral was on Thursday in Suffolk. Likely the Queen attended then did one or two things in London either side of it.

AAGPBL player, Lillian Luckey (wiki) dead at 102. A pitcher for the South Bend Blue Sox in 1946.
