As suspected, Earle Parsons is dead. There's an obit for him in this 2015 49ers magazine here. Died December 18, 2014, aged 93. Still can't find anything for Don Johnson. As Parsons is dead, I'm almost certain that Charley Trippi is the oldest former NFL player.

Revisiting this with a concrete answer. This 2002 book refers to him as "the late E. N. P. Sowah" and this blog post contains a 2010 article copied from the Ghana Mirror which refers to him as "the late Mr. Justice E. N. P. Sowah". Stood down in 1990 so died sometime between then and 2002. Anyway, another name off your Wiki watchlist because he's dead.

Later than that. Florence Green died 94 years after the end of the First World War, in Feb 2012 (she was 17 when she signed up). If that was to be repeated for the Second World War, then we're looking at 2039. Though given that there were 68 million combatants in WWI, and over 100 million in the second, it may even be after that. 2040s more likely.

Jack Vitty (wiki), Workington and Brighton & Hove Albion player, dead at 98. No death date given but an edit to his Wiki page claims he died on 4th November. The article confirms he was the oldest former Workington player.

Article from the Episcopalian Church mentioning the death yesterday of William Evan Sanders (wiki), just a month shy of 102. The oldest bishop in the Episcopalian Church I imagine.

It's not. Packaged faux offence taking is a common practice of people on the new left (liberal types), and calling everything "racist/homophobic/Islamophobic/xenophobic/misogynistic" etc. Granted, it doesn't apply to the whole of the left. I'm guessing that you'll probably be aware of this but this is by no means accurate. These are only 5 of the oldest that we're aware of. The last WWI veteran, Florence Green, died 10 years ago this coming February. In the years preceding her death there was a lot of hunting for new names. Around 2005 we still had several hundred First World War vets left, all of whom were centenarians, and just as soon as you thought you had the oldest sussed out, new names came forward. The same drive of interest in WWII veterans and measuring their stats has barely started, and only in the U.S. it would seem. In 5–10 years from now we will see record keeping for # of vets, oldest vets etc. This will interest you. It's the estimated # of veterans in the U.S. (including by state) and it's updated every autumn. There are 240,000 in the U.S. alone as of 2021. By 2025 it will be about 65,000.
