Yes. He's of "that" generation. Interestingly, when Norman St John-Stevas died, the Guardian chose to reveal his sexuality in their obituary of him. Like Field, he was open about it with colleagues, family, friends etc, though just never publicly disclosed it. Many MPs are in the same boat. They just don't feel the need to declare it, so I don't feel like I'm "outing" him.

I find this man insufferable. He's rude and vile, but she should've just ignored it. The whole thing has been blown out of proportion and if anything it will just give him more listeners. There are some real egotistical wankers who present LBC. James O'Brien and Nick Abbot are up there too IMO.

Sir Archie Lamb dead, four days shy of 100. Served under Harold Wilson, Jim Callaghan and Maggie Thatcher. Also an RAF fighter pilot during WWII.

Just been told via a reliable Labour source that Field has a very aggressive cancer in stage 4. May not see the New Year if that’s the case.
-
Ouch. In hospice care too. An easy hit. Get him on DL if he survives the rest of the year.
-
His website gives me a headache. It was still being updated in 2017 too... some people just can't "Internet".

Nah. Statement says she's been back at Windsor since lunchtime today and she was already back working at her desk. She just needs to slow down and stop working as much; she's nearly 96. It'll just be exhaustion.

I rewatched Mary Poppins a few years ago. It was utter balls. Rewatched Bedknobs and Broomsticks around the same time. It's still awesome.

Couldn't agree more. Very overrated. I think I was considerably older than most seeing it first time round (maybe 19/20? whereas most people probably see it whilst children?). I remember struggling to get to the end and then thinking "what's all the fuss about?". Probably expecting too much with the Nazi subplot. Think I was hoping for the Von Trapps to fortify themselves in their mansion and have an explosive shoot-out with the S.S. Alas...

@YoungWillz, disappointed in you. There was an open goal for you to break this news with "D. A Death. A female death."

Spooky. Rosemarie must've resurrected herself a few months later in order to sing to school kids in April 2011. Moral of the story: Geni is often wrong.

Updated The Comedians cast masterlist (see spoiler below) for the death of Tom Pepper. Pepper died in Southport on 29th September 2018. Death and funeral notice (also lots of tributes on Facebook). He was born as John Terence Sexton on 9th October 1950, meaning that he was 67 when he died. Additional credits include Coronation Street and Blankety Blank, among many others.

I don't disagree with you actually. Merely pointing out other reasons why people do it.
-
Many people do it as a means to incentivise their kids to work hard to make money for themselves and be self-dependent but some people also set up accounts where they put money aside for their kids, which can be accessed by them both before or after the death of the parent. It bypasses inheritance tax so makes more sense.

Both Bill Turnbull and George Alagaiah need to be on the list for next year.

Weird to think his grandson, the current Earl of Glasgow is a Lib Dem peer.

Robert Hosp (wiki), a forward in the 1966 FIFA team for Switzerland, dead at 81.

French performance artist Pierre Pinoncelli (wiki) dead at 92. His "art" included: *damaging 2 of the 8 copies of "Fountain" (1917) by Marcel Duchamp (1887–1968) with a hammer as a statement that the work had lost its provocative value. *throwing a bucket of red paint over French culture minister André Malraux (1901–1976). *using a sawn-off shotgun to rob a bank in Nice of 10 francs. *cutting off the tip of one of his own fingers at an art exhibition in Colombia in protest of the FARC guerrillas holding French-Colombian politician Íngrid Betancourt (b. 1961) hostage.

Updated. Whole act gone. I will be shocked if he doesn't get a QO. Worth noting that one of the Shepherd Sisters is still alive, and turns 88 next year.
