Formal announcement from the Andy Griffith Museum of the death of actress Betty Lynn, aged 95. Picked in various pools on here.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Obit as confirmation, finally. -
Really? He was being interviewed by Dan Wootton a few months ago. Looked completely fine.

Her mother used a stick for the last 10-15 years of her life so it really doesn’t say much. The Queen has always had terrible posture, largely owing to hunching over a writing desk all her life.

The assailant was a Somalian national. Still no motive given. Police are supposedly looking for evidence of threats made and/or planning prior to the attack, as they believe it was planned.

Telegraph obit. A really great read if you have a subscrip.

Just noted on the news that Amess was a keen gerontologist and used to hold an annual party for all of his constituents aged 100+. Wonder if he ever visited DL Forums?
-
Was just thinking of this earlier. The full clip of all the celebs promoting the "anti-Cake campaign" is on YouTube. Those who fell foul to it: Sir Bernard Ingham (1932–2023) Bernard Manning (1930–2007) Bruno Brookes (b. 1959) Rolf Harris (b. 1930) Noel Edmonds (b. 1948) Jimmy Greaves (1940–2021) Sir David Amess (1952–2021) Ingham feels like a DL name for 2022 to me.

A lot of the money is probably spent on raised security at Westminster, but MPs are encouraged to do background checks on the people they're due to meet and ensure they are indeed constituents. I don't know if there's a cost involved in that? This will probably see a lot of MPs abandon face-to-face surgeries sadly. Some already did after Cox's death. Though I seem some have already expressed the fact that they absolutely refuse to stop doing them.

There's nothing wrong with Pie's rants IMO. They're impassioned but he doesn't dehumanise anyone. And unlike the Deputy Leader of the Opposition, he doesn't go around calling opposition members "scum".

Ken Casanega (wiki) dead at 100. Last surviving member of the original 49ers. EDIT: I THINK the oldest former NFL player is now Charley Trippi (wiki), who turns 100 in December. Don Johnson (wiki) and Earle Parsons (wiki) do not have death dates on Wikipedia or on any of the sports stats sites, but I'm pretty certain they're deceased.

They just said on the news that the assailant has been confirmed as 25 years old. Not sure if that eliminates many motives though.

The murder of David Amess led me to look at the Wiki page for the 2016 by-election, triggered by the murder of Jo Cox. Richard Edmonds (wiki), who was a very senior member of the far right British National Party (and no less than Deputy Leader under John Tyndall from 1982 to 1999) stood in that 2016 by-election. Turns out he died on 23rd December, aged 77. We likely missed it because the only British paper that reported on it at the time was the Morning Star.
-
True. All the filth (the BNP, National Front, English Democrats et al.) ran in the by-election following the death of Jo Cox in 2016.
-
Safe to say Blair won't miss him. Amess was one of the few MPs left in Westminster who was still actively trying to get Blair prosecuted for the Iraq War.
-
Yes, and going back further, wasn't a Northern Irish MP killed at his surgery in the early 90s? I can't think who though.
-
Just been told over the phone that he's died. How awful.
-
I wonder if the assailant has mental health issues rather than anything to do with terror? Amess is quite a moderate voice on the green benches. Very well liked cross party and a charismatic figure. A Brexiteer, but during the referendum campaign, his contribution was always about convincing those on the opposing side rather than antagonising. Big champion of animal rights and energy conservation as well. Met him on a number occasions when I worked in energy. Never heard a bad word against him, and there are few MPs I could say that for.
-
Christ. 3rd time this has happened in just over a decade (Stephen Timms and Jo Cox being the other two). May lead to the end of face to face constituent advice surgeries, which would be a tragedy as they're such a healthy and strong part of British democracy.
-
Certainly looks like him if you zoom in. If it is, he’s a goner.

Ulla Jürß?! She was last confirmed alive 30 years ago! If you're going that far down the rabbit hole (please no), you may as well just list all the female concentration camp personnel from here that are missing a date of death. We need to be sensible about this. Anyone who has been confirmed alive within the last 10-15 years is worth looking at. Otherwise they're almost certainly deceased.

Sommer was the last survivor from this widely spread BBC graphic from 2011. Any surviving cases now (e.g. possibly Kissner) only came to attention post-2015, and none of them seem to be prominent.
-
Or that his middle initials aren't included in the index listing his death certificate. Happens sometimes. There's hundreds of records for simply "Richard Davies".

Jefferson Keel was born in 1947 as per this. Joe A. Garcia was born in 1953 as per this. W. Ron Allen was born in 1947 as per this. Gaiashkibos was born in 1950 as per birth records on Ancestry. Although it says in that article you posted that he prefers not to use a first name, it's "Gaiash" on his birth certificate. Leon F. Cook was born in 1939 as per this. Clarence Wesley was born in 1914 and died in 1988 as per this.

I've submitted Karin MacCarthy's death to IMDb. That will be updated no bother. Rowland Davies.... Now his last credit was 2004 so I searched the GRO from 2003–2019. Found zilch. The birth record seems to be accurate. Richard A St J Davies b. Eton, Buckinghamshire in 3rd quarter of 1941. Married K. MacCarthy in Chelsea, London in the last quarter of 1975. The fact that his death isn't in the GRO, or Ancestry suggests he died any time between the last few months of 2019 and Oct 2021. The last trace I can find of him is living in Havant, Hampshire in 2013 (I used the funeral home location of MacCarthy to find them in the residency records). Starting to sound like a broken record, but the GRO really needs to be updated. They told me in February, it would be "updated soon".
