Yup. It's proper trash telly that can appeal to anyone. What really irritates me is the irrelevant cheesy theme tune, as well as the creepy voiceover on the show (Craig Cash, and formerly Caroline Aherne). They talk in a really mousy and sloooow way which just dumbs it down even more. Aherne ofc a legend in her own right for Mrs Merton and The Fast Show. Fuck knows what she was thinking. She clearly wasn't.

I've looked on FB, Twitter, Google, Ancestry, the GRO, wills etc. Can't find shit. She was still active in September 2018, aged 94. The GRO still doesn't include a lot of the deaths from the end of 2019, let alone 2020 and 2021. They really need to get it updated.

So is it basically all staged then? I suspected as much when I saw them reacting to the death of Prince Philip, when they all "just so happened to be" on their sofas when the news broke of his death. Iirc, his death was announced around midday?!

These people sit on their arse for hours every single night watching telly. Are we really surprised?

Tweet reporting the death of bodybuilder Matt Mendenhall, aged 60/61. A pretty big name in those circles for an amateur.

I don’t quite buy that being the cause of a dry spell, because there’s a flip side to the drop in viruses spreading, and that’s people being less mobile, staying at home and sitting on their arse. Hospitalisations are up for heart attacks and strokes. Also, early cancer detection has plummeted. The lockdowns that were enacted to supposedly save healthcare systems from short-term pressure have created a new long term crisis.

God damnit, you’re right. I set my Google search to “past month” too. This is not the first time regurgitated articles have come up when I do that. Clearly their algorithms can’t detect when a news site has recently updated or moved an old article.

Edit: never mind…

Finally some media coverage for Bob Fish. Western Telegraph report. Died on Sunday 22nd in Pembrokeshire. Cause only given as a "battle with illness".

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Death and funeral notice here confirms it. Was that you who picked her in the DDP? Just to be awkward? -
The dedicated thread really only discusses players from Britain though. The oldest person on that list is William Simpson (b. 1919). But there must be an older player somewhere else in the world.

Crossposting the death of Arthur Hoyle Smith (wiki), the world's oldest living professional footballer, who was died in a care home in Bolton aged 106. Also Tom Larkin (wiki), New Zealand's Ambassador to Japan (1972–1976), is dead at 103.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Does it give a death date? -
Sure, have two at once: Trygve Brudevold (wiki), Norwegian Olympic bobsledder (1952, 1956), dead at 100. Ruth Apilado (wiki), American newspaper editor and anti-racism activist, dead at 113. Apilado ofc was the last living person of note (for reasons other than age) born in 1908.

Crossposting. Eddie Paskey (wiki), who played Lt. Leslie in the original Star Trek series, dead at 81. Other than the 4 surviving members from the main cast (Shatner, Nichols, Takei and Koenig), I think he probably had the most appearances in TOS. Good opportunity to note that Bob Herron (IMDb), a supporting actor from the series, is still about. 97 next month.

If you've been a lurker here for a while then you'll know that thread creation for one off opinions is frowned upon. There are already several key threads to discuss paces of hits, what you think of the list, who you think should be on it next year etc.

There are pics of Jackie Stewart from June 2020 here: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/sir-jackie-stewart-remind-wife-22149932 He doesn't look *too* bad. Article says he's been caring for his wife who has dementia. He's 83 next year but I reckon he may have a few more left in him. Still, a better pick than half of the shots in the dark on the crap list this year.

If drol says it’s a hoax, he’ll be dead before the end of the week.

This aged well.

And at just 50 names, every DL spot is precious. Sticking a bunch of healthy nonagenerians (Brooks, Van Dyke, Lansbury, QEII) hasn't done DL much good this year and the same rule applies (albeit to a lesser extent) to centenarians. Kirk Douglas and Olivia dH were on the list for years before they finally kicked the bucket. Nehemiah Persoff would be a better shout IMO. Had health issues in the past and hasn't made appearances/been pictured in a while now.
-
Why though? She seems to be very healthy for a centenarian.

Your tiny mind is about to become "befuddled" once again. Phyllis Gould, another one of the "Rosie the Riveters", dead from a stroke just shy of her 100th birthday. Visited the White House to meet Obama in 2014. Surely can't be many left now. Times obituary.

Guardian obit for Jarvis Astaire. Not picked in the DDP surprisingly.
