Given that I now have a link, I've updated for the death of Ambrose. All charting members dead following the recent losses of Richards (2019), Rex (2020), and Ambrose (2021), respectively. There are some latter members still alive though. Only two are notable mentions though: Joey Welz (wiki). He's 81 this year and was the pianist for the group from 1963 to 1966. There is also Louis Torres, who is 75 this year. He was a bass player for the group from 1961 to 1968. Later quit music altogether and is now a pastor.

Got a Guardian obit. Born Nov 1935 so she was actually 85 at her time of death.

I think this one is true. Another tweet here from yesterday, from one of her friend’s: Photo must be “fairly” recent. She looks frail in comparison to the 2019 interview with her which is everywhere online. Media just being slow. She’s definitely a name on a New York Times obit level.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Confused about this one. This tweet seems to be confident he died on 10th August aged 95: However, there’s also this, which is an obituary for a Squadron Leader Kirpal Singh Sathi who died 10th August, aged 87. Different people. Kirpal Singh is a big name in Indian military circles. I would have expected a media write up so I reckon this is a mixup. -

This appears to be a hoax. The IP address who made the edit is a serial vandal who refreshes his IP in order to elude bans. Hoffman may be a good DDP pick for a cheeky unique hit. Discovering a chemical element should guarantee a QO… you’d hope so anyway. -
Thank you both. I've updated these entries. The Angels Wiki American vocal girl group from New Jersey Barbara Allbutt 24 Sep 1940 – 10 Jul 2021 (80) Obit Phyllis Allbutt 24 Sep 1942 – Living Peggy Santiglia 04 May 1944 – Living 03/10/1963 My Boyfriend's Back #50 NB: Phyllis Allbutt is now Phyllis Sirico, and Peggy Santiglia is now Peggy Ricker. The Fireballs Wiki American rock and roll group from Raton, New Mexico Eric Budd 23 Oct 1938 – Living Jimmy Gilmer 15 Sep 1940 – Living Stan Lark 27 Jul 1940 – 04 Aug 2021 (81) Obit Doug Roberts 15 Jun 1941 – 18 Nov 1981 (40) Mention of death George Tomsco 24 Apr 1940 – Living 27/07/1961 Quite a Party #29 14/11/1963 Sugar Shack #45 Released as Jimmy Gilmer and The Fireballs NB: The Collins Complete UK Hit Singles book lists Chuck Tharp (1941–2006) and Dan Trammell (b. 1940) as members but this tends to confirm that Tharp had left by August 1960, and this mentions Trammell left in early 1960 – both departures happening before the groups' first UK hit. Budd drummed on the first record and was replaced by Roberts on the second.

Whilst I don't feel comfortable with it either, can we just take a deep breath and remind ourselves that 1) he's not being accused of anything first hand, 2) he's innocent of having colluded with/known about anything until it is proven otherwise, 3) the primary accuser has already been caught out for major inconsistencies in her stories, including on the dates and how old she was when she met Andrew (likely 17 – NOT a child). I agree he should go to the U.S. to assist the FBI, and I think it's now becoming unavoidable – he will have to go, but this case has been exaggerated and sensationalised in the media beyond all reason because of who he is. By comparison, we've just had the conclusions to several reports of abuse within local authorities/care homes across the country, with damning findings related to consistent abuse of small children over decades, and some of the perpetrators are still alive and out there. Barely any media coverage.

Johnny Groth (wiki), Detroit Tigers outfielder, dead at 95.

I really don’t care for the links between politicians and popular culture. It’s a distraction from their credibility and their execution of the office. Obama did this a lot… PR stunts galore on the basketball court, the dance floor, appearances on Jimmy Fallon. Every liberal in the U.S. sucking it up, meanwhile he delivered very little effective change as a President. Anyway, my point was in comparison to most other DL picks, he’s a pretty boring type. The fact that he enjoys popular music doesn’t change that for me.

Updated for the death of Proctor and added a note. Fenton, McCarthy and Powell are likely deceased(?) so I assume Proctor was the last living member of this act. Genuinely surprised he died off radar. He was quite a renowned guitarist during his era. Still bloody waiting on a single news source covering the death of Joey Ambrose from Bill Haley and his Comets before updating their section (every member is dead now). Posted all over FB and Twitter. Media being uselessly slow in spotting it.
-
Amazing, thank you! I did do some Googling recently as he fell off radar in recent years and I did wonder if he had died without coverage. This FB page about Judd suggests he was born 1931, and the birth records back that up on FreeBMD so I'll go with that.

Cricket Thread. Only Mad Dogs And Englishmen

Yeah, he sipped on a soft drink whilst Farage had a pint. Also, a Google reveals the interviews Boycott did about his throat cancer, and they tend to confirm he’s never drank or smoked. -

Sir Geoffrey Boycott was on Talking Pints on GBNews tonight. Looked pretty good, still very sharp mentally. Has never drank or smoked yet ofc had a lucky escape from throat cancer nearly 20 years ago. When asked about his longevity, he said “I’ve made 80. I don’t think I’ll see 100.” Likely accurate but I can see him reaching 90. -
Stubbs was the last main cast member. There were 53 episodes in total. Looking at IMDb, no cast members who appeared in 3 or more of them are living. Just a few minor bit parts who appeared in 1-2.

She actually gave an interview after @The Old Crem posted this, appearing in the VE Day 75 BBC doc in 2020. Predicting death by “last active/last appeared in” can be tricky but yeah, TOC had a good inclination on this one.

So who’s died? -
Hollywood Reporter obit and Daily Mail QO. Hitchcock was the last surviving credited cast member of Strangers on a Train (1951). Her death also means Vera Miles (wiki, b. 1929) is now the last surviving credited cast member of Psycho (1960).

Died 1st December 1971 as per this. Edit: No, that can't be the case. He held positions into the 1980s. Other Wiki pages linked to his page say he died in 2008. Where are you seeing 2004? -

Indian Navy Rear Admiral Kirpal Singh (wiki) supposedly dead at 95. WWII vet. The last senior Indian military figure to have served? EDIT: No. Vice Admiral S. H. Sarma (wiki, b. 1922) is still about. -
Ben Halim please.

Canadian former Cabinet minister Paul Hellyer (wiki) dead at 98. Mentioned on the Forum by @drol before. He was very active up until only a few days ago – spoke at a conference last week. Suffered a fall the other day.

@msc in very rare circumstances erroneous information exists in the official records. The record itself will not be incorrect, merely the function used to access it. In other words, his birth may have been registered in 1938 (and will appear under that year when you search) but if you ordered an actual copy of that record it will clarify he was born in 1932. His circumstances are very unusual, even for an adoptee. As I said, errors in the birth, death and marriage records are very rare. So rare, it doesn't in any way discredit their reliability as far as I'm concerned.
