    Deadpool Detective Work

1925 now up on Page 11. A few things of note: Betty Wells, Barbara Long, James Garbutt and Pat Clark are dead, though I can't find when Clark died. Hubert Frank and Dan Jackson are in limbo but I lean towards still alive. Kerima is likely dead. No idea about Michon. Already mentioned earlier in the Hollywood Possibilities thread that Lansbury stopped signing recently and that Michel Bouquet is pretty ill. Two more... Mildred Kornman sounds to be very ill. Leo De Lyon sounds like he may be shuffling off soon as well. (see notes above) All in all, a decent year to look at for some possibilities/new names. Many more are still alive than the previous ones I've done, but a few sound to be just hanging in there by a thread.

    Hollywood Possibilities

My full 1925 IMDb list will be finished and up by tonight on the Deadpool Detective thread, but two significant findings so far: Angela Lansbury – stopped signing autographs last month. Last pictured September 2020(?), last acted 2019. I think age has caught up with her. May be nothing, but wouldn't be shocked if she goes soon. Michel Bouquet – last role was in early 2020 (though probably filmed in 2019). In March 2020, he returned a piece of signed mail to a fan, but his secretary also wrote on it that he couldn't write a response letter as he was very sick and had been for a long time. I imagine he'll be gone by the end of this year.

    Political Frailty

Baroness Detta O'Cathain (wiki), Irish-born British businesswoman and a Conservative member of the Lords (since 1991), has died aged 83 following a short illness. Controversial lady. Didn't like the gays. Took up the anti-LGBT rights mantle in the Lords after Janet Young died in 2002.

    The Dead of 2021

We have a thread for Academy Award winners. There are 380 names listed on the full Oscars In Memoriam page for the year 2020–21. The majority of those names were not Oscar winners, or even nominees, but rather simply names from the industry. That's why I posted it in here as a general item. The only other place it could have maybe gone was Hollywood Possibilities, though the Academy Awards covers international cinema too. Try and use your brain before you randomly start smacking buttons on your keyboard in a fit of rage next time.

    Academy Award Winners

Gone through the A–Z list on the Oscars In Memoriam page now. Found an Oscar winner who died completely off radar in the last year: Ken Muggleston (wiki), Australian/British set decorator who won an award for 1968's Oliver! Born April 1930 so about 90 though no idea when he died...

    The Dead of 2021

The Oscars fuck the video segment up every year. One thing I’ll give them credit for... their full In Memoriam list here: https://aframe.oscars.org/news/in-memoriam Quite a lot of off radar deaths (etc. Patricia Alphin, Jim Haynie) on there, though nobody particularly notable.

    The Dead of 2021

Oscars In Memoriam 2021 segment here. They crammed a lot more names (95!) in this year, but video was pointlessly fast – blink and you'll miss one!

Say something about it so that it’s searchable. How many times you been told this? To save folk the time of reading the small print – he had a rare small cell cancer which was treated during lockdown. Now in the all clear.

Re:Price, makes sense why I can’t find him then! No problem at all. Happy I could fill in some blanks on Hugman’s and Wiki! In a decade from now I imagine we won’t be in this situation – we’ll have a concrete list of footballers who are still with us, with maybe only one or two in limbo. Fingers crossed.

@Octopus of Odstock Willie O'Brien Based on the fact that there was only one William O'Brien born in Middlesbrough in 1929, this must be him: William O'Brien b. 1929 Middlesbrough to William O'Brien & Rosalie McGouran m. Joyce H. Newell d. 2015 (aged 86) Doesn't say where he died. However, there are clues: 1) In July 1952, he's listed as a passenger on the steam ship destined for New York from Southampton. This is one year after his professional football career ceased. He's listed as a boiler maker. 2) His wife's family all died in Ontario, Canada and appear to have links to Quebec too. --------------------- Ken McDevitt Living in Blackpool in 2010. No sign of a death since so assume he's still there somewhere. -------------------- Louis Bimpson Alive. Based in Ormskrik, Lancashire as of 2020. -------------------- John Cook Living in Bristol in 2010. Can't find a death since so I assume still alive. -------------------- Keith Thomas Living in Shrewsbury, Shropshire as of 2021. -------------------- Bernard Shaw The family trees are all over the place for this individual so I'm not going to copy and paste what will be an entanglement of false leads, but his own family note he died in Spain. Doesn't say when. -------------------- Roy Evans b. Bernard Royden Evans b. Rotherhithe, Surrey (Hugman's). This could possibly be him. Just says Bernard Evans b. 1929 in Bermondsey, Surrey d. 2016. Doesn't give dates or say where he died, but the GRO confirms it wasn't in England/Wales. Given that there was only one Bernard Evans born in Surrey in 1929, could be him but that's assuming this bland family tree got the year of birth correct for the individual they're referring to. ---------------- Ray Ratcliffe Alive. Still based in St. Helens, Merseyside in 2021. ---------------- John Clowes Still living in Staffordshire in 2010 – Uttoxeter to be precise. Can't find a trace of any subsequent death so assume still living. ---------------- Jimmy Forrest b. James Forrest 14 Nov 1929 Dalkeith, Midlothian (Hugman's) There was a James Forrest born 1927–1929 living in Dalkeith in 2008. There is also a death record for a James Stewart Forrest [note – no middle name on Hugman's so could be a different person?] in 2008 in Midlothian. Could this be him? You'd have to order the certificate to be sure. ---------------- Frank Varney Living in Oxford as of 2005. Can't find a record of death since so assume still living. ---------------- George Price Updated on the Hugman's website since your post to say he died in 1982. Their info: b. George Price 2 Dec 1929 Crewe, England d. Feb 1982 North Carolina, USA I disagree. The individual they're referring to is likely this man: George Curtis Price b. 2 Dec 1929 North Carolina, USA d. Feb 1982 Florida, USA Not the footballer. Another family tree gives us our guy: George Price b. Dec 1929 Crewe/Nantwich, EN Suggests he died in Cheshire at some point. I can't find his death record in the GRO for some reason. This one will merit some more attention. According to that tree, his wife was Joan Elizabeth Bamford b. 6 May 1928 Nantwich, died Jul–Sep 2004 in Cheshire somewhere. ----------------- Johnny Moffatt Not sure. I can tell you where he's definitely NOT – Scotland. There are several John B. Moffatt's in England. One who emigrated to New Brunswick, and a few in the U.S including Vermont. I'm leaning towards alive but who knows. ---------------- That's me done. There was a lot of possible matches on 192 but I didn't post them as they were too sketchy – individuals without middle names or with relatively common names are hard to track down on there, but on the bright side it will mean a few others will be living from the table.

@Octopus of Odstock Albert Capstick Still living in North Yorkshire in 2019 – Pontefract to be precise, so still alive unless he's died off radar since. ------------------------- Robert Godwin Living in Crewe, Cheshire in 2013 with his wife Jean. Can't find any trace of a death since so assume still living. ------------------------ Ken Maxwell Died in Victoria, Australia in January 2007 as per this family tree: Birth 11 Feb 1928 • Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland 2 Sources Marriage 18 Jun 1949 • Barrhead, Renfrewshire, Scotland Barrhead Reformist Church / Theresa Emily Reaney Wild Death 11 Jan 2007 • Bundoora, Victoria, Australia Bundoora Extended Care, buried in Yan Yean Cemetary ------------------------- Andy Mullen Alive. Based in Scunthorpe in 2021. ------------------------- Ronnie Codd Alive. Still living in Sheffield in 2021. 1928 done.

@Octopus of Odstock Christopher Leonard b. Christopher Leonard 11 Jul 1927 Jarrow, EN (Hugman's) Family tree: Christopher Leonard b. 1927 Jarrow d. 1987 father: William Leonard mother: Elizabeth Cartwright Now he was the only Christopher Leonard born in that entire region in 1927 so must be him. Problem is where? Definitely did not die in the UK... and I extended the search on FreeBMD to 1985–1989 in case the authors of the tree recalled the year wrongly... which happens (like in David D Gray's case). Anyway, I believe this is him, but best of luck finding more. It's a game of "where in the world". ------------------------------------- Gordon Revel Still alive – address is in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire as of 2021. ------------------------------------ Robert Williams Can't find his fate but Hugman's should correct his birth name. Definitely Robert Raymond Williams, not Raymond Robert Williams. Will help with finding him further down the line. ------------------------------------ Thomas McGairy Dead. Alternate spelling brings up an exact match on birthdate: Name: Thomas McGarry Death Age: 75 Birth Date: 25 Nov 1927 Registration Date: Dec 2002 Registration District: Leeds Inferred County: Yorkshire Register Number: A32C District and Subdistrict: 0921A Entry Number: 56 Need to order the certificate for the full date. That's 1927 done. Just two more years left.

@Octopus of Odstock George Davies This family tree suggests he died in Cape Town, South Africa. Doesn't state when annoyingly. You can request death certificates from the SA Gov site so maybe Michael could work with this? ------------------------ John Brooks Nice and easy: Name: Mr John Brooks Gender: Male Age: 91 Birth Date: 8 Mar 1927 Last Residence: Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire, England Postal Code District: ST7 Death Date: 9 Jul 2018

Busy week. Updated entry for the death of frontman McKeown. A lot of people seem shocked. Has to be said though, he was never a picture of health. If you include Billy Lyall, a non-charting member, that's 5 members dead now. One from AIDS, one in a house fire, one from throat cancer, and two "suddenly". Cheery.

1970s lineup for The Four Seasons updated. Second member of the group to die from COVID (the first being Tommy DeVito from their 1960s lineup in September 2020). Think it's safe to say they're the first group to lose two members to COVID-19?

Good spot. This 2018 article about him says he was born in Sep 1932. Looking at Ancestry, I found the Joseph LaBracio record for ‘32. There is nobody by that name born anywhere near 1941! And still several news outlets have lazily copied 1941 already. Just shows how damaging Wiki/IMDb can be when the info on there is wrong!

@Octopus of Odstock michael is right about Horne. Living in Brixworth, Northampton up to 2013 as Alfred T Horne. Which makes the death index ever more puzzling as that record was almost an exact match. Worth noting that as of 2016, a different person was living at the property in Brixworth. So died? Moved address / to a care home?

    André Maranne

Not necessarily. If there is an unsourced death date on a page [ANY page – doesn't matter if they're well known or not or if it's been on there 1 minute or 1 week], if it is not supported by a reliable source then we as editors have to scrub it off. I take a lot of them off myself as soon as I see them. It doesn't mean I don't believe they're true in many cases. In fact, many are "supported" by tweets, facebook posts, forum murmurs etc. In this situation, you can tap the "geolocate" button on the IP of the editor and it shows they're located where Maranne has lived for decades. Add in the fact he's done no interviews and made zero appearances since the early 1990s. The idea that his death could occur off radar for several weeks isn't the wildest idea. I believe it's true. If Hadoke doesn't confirm, then the England and Wales Probates may do in the next few months. Better get an answer soon. DDP points for me at stake here.
