George Mandel (wiki), another Beat Generation writer of note, died on 13th February (2 days after his 101st birthday and a week before Ferlinghetti's death) according to this Ancestry family tree. Screenshot for those without a subscription:

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

But it doesn't mean anything either. If something isn't reliably sourced on Wiki, it's removed. That's all it means. -
People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...
Ulitzer95 replied to Vaagheid's topic in DeathList Forum
So? There are posts on social media about his death which predate the Wikipedia edit. -
He’s so bloody old he’s learnt how to photosynthesis from sitting in the sun.
-
I'm convinced he's alive now. However, anonymous Twitter handle with a random image of Saddam as a profile pic and no clues that would suggest they have any credibility make me doubt that he is "healthy and well". He's been dogged with ill health rumours for years now. I suspect they have some kind of origin of truth.

Played Cotton in the first three POC films. Not a character immediately recognisable by name (particularly as the character was a mute!) but regularly featured amongst the ship's crew:

Who? Include name of person in the post please. Also don't hyperlink all of the text – it makes your post searchable.

Oh massive fucking yawn. He's now been dead and undead so many times. Cancer since 2014, stick him on the immortals list at least @drol He's playing a fine game of the Arab world's favourite media past time, "the death hokey cokey".
-
He was a talking point in the western world and a source of comic relief for his propaganda gaffes. Just doesn’t seem to be that big a deal in the Arab world, which is relatively humourless I might add.
-
Yup, here. English translation here. Note that a reporter has their name stamped to it, rather than it just being a circular/copied news piece from elsewhere. It also gives cancer as the cause, claiming that he'd been ill with it since 2014.

Francis meets with Ali al-Sisani (wiki), who turns 91 in August. Their news channel just referred to al-Sisani as the most prominent Shia Muslim leader in the world. Not sure if that's true or not? Yesterday BBC News said Oprah Winfrey was the richest woman in North America (she's not even close). Sistani never seems to smile, and has one of the worst cases of "resting bitch face" I've ever seen.
-
Most certainly dead this time. Reported on over a dozen Arab sites, including some that wouldn't have jumped the gun e.g. the Cairo Times.

Can't believe we actually agree on something.

2nd oldest man in the States, Philip Sharp, dead at 111.

That's the Daily Star (Reach plc) above. Daily Mail is the DMG group. Star is Labour, Mail is right wing, so quite different papers.
-
Well that must be how he caught it then.

Tony Hendra (wiki), British satirist who starred in This is Spinal Tap as the band's manager, and the co-producer of Spitting Image in the early days, dead at 79 from motor neurone disease (or ALS for our cousins across the pond).

Zak Nilsson, son of the late singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson (or just Nilsson to most) has died from colon cancer aged 49. Nilsson had seven children, but Zak was the only child from his second of three marriages. -
Don't agree with that at all. There was a lot of noise, both online and on tv/radio/in print about Andrew when the accusations were being thrown at him and when there were developments... particularly after he (rather foolishly) gave that television interview. Since then he's backed off entirely from the media, is making no public appearances and little to no new developments have emerged from the investigation into the allegations made. It's as simple as that. The media have run out of road to keep spinning it as a story. There's no "news" to report on. Whereas Harry and Meghan are always pinging out statements to the press, pointing the finger, refuting accusations, doing magazine exclusives, and now they've just granted a major interview to arguably one of the most prominent television presenters in the world.

And definitely not the Suffolk Strangler either!

Well you learn something new every day! I didn't realise Steven Wright was who that came from. I hear people saying it all the time so always just assumed it was somebody like Oscar Wilde.
-
That is correct.

Tbf, I felt the same way about the Trump thread every single day of 2018, 2019 and 2020 but DL has been a bit "dead" recently (other than the Prince Philip topic ofc, which is booming, for all the wrong reasons). So any attempt at conversation is a welcome change.

Interesting point to note from the article – Tanaka's grandson states that she is aiming to beat Jeanne Calment's longevity record. #GoKane
