Just seen his obituary on BBC News. Supposedly he had a subsequent stroke in July 2020 and had been in hospital since then! That's rough. It wasn't public knowledge, but it was known that he had a minor stroke in 2018. Maybe should have been on our radars but hey ho, we can't bag em all.

So he did.

Yup, there are loads of reasons why he could have been vaccinated already other than underlying health issues. I'm still in my late 20s and have had the vaccine, because I've done some volunteering for NHS Test & Trace. I know several folk who are signed up as volunteers to T&T and they've all been vaccinated as a result too.

Please let's not start this repetitive conversation again. Don't feed the troll.

This one has been annoying me for ages now. Romance novelist Katharine Gordon (wiki), born in Aberdeen and raised in India. Known for the "Peacock" series of books (which seem to have sold pretty well!). 1916 given as year of birth so if accurate she would be 104–105 if still alive. I highly doubt it but you never know. Last book was published 2001.

See for yourself. Cameron appeared as a guest before the National Security Strategy Select Committee yesterday. He looked good! I confess to watching the whole thing on BBC Parliament because it's an area of interest for me.

Was it public knowledge prior to his death that he was suffering from dementia?

Updated entry for the death of Chris Barber. Cause given as dementia-related. Last surviving member of the charting act and probably the last British jazz bandleader of that era. RIP.

A close friend and third cousin of Prince Philip.

What I don't understand is what he gets from it. One minute he's assuming the identity of a leftie who hates Tories, the next he's a Tory who hates lefties. One minute he's a Scottish nationalist, the next a unionist, One minute he's a Europhile, the next pro-Brexit. More faces than the town clock. Satisfying multiple personalities that he has?

Richard Franklin released from hospital a couple of weeks back. Operation was successful (whatever it was for?). Anybody know more?

I see his Twitter alter ego has come to the attention of journalists before. I wonder if they'd be interested in exposing who he is seeing as they have the ability to uncloak prominent trolls. It would make for one of these comical tabloid stories "EXPOSED: Housebound man Iain, 33, assumes online identity of an 80 year old Tory lady called Cecilia from his council flat – pretends to be personal friend of the Queen". Might ping it on to a few of my journo mates and see if they want to pick it up.

In the plans for Operation London / Forth Bridge (or what we know of them publicly at least), it isn't specified. It just says that the PM is informed then the heads of government of all respective Commonwealth countries and then the media. But I would imagine they would alert the state broadcaster, then the press association. I don't think the Palace would appreciate The Sun tweeting about it before the BBC got a chance to break the story.
-
Yes, because the head of the Royal Family is the head of state, and the BBC is the state broadcaster. Guess who they may be inclined to tell first?
-
Again, nothing that is "news" there. Just sensationalism. You don't half lap it up.

The South African Government News Agency have announced Mogwe's death. Doesn't say when or where, just "passed on at an age of 99, last week".

Forgot about how close they were. Just checked. Billy was 259 days short and Zsa Zsa was 50 short so Philip is in between them. Anything less than 30 days short of the landmark is just utter party pooping. The Royal Mint and Palace officials will be raging. In that situation I reckon they'll commission the coins, tea towels and mugs anyway as a "birthday anniversary/commemoration" type thing.
-
Cheater!
-
As of midnight it'll be 100 days until his 100th birthday. If he makes it, he'll be the first male member of the British Royal Family, and first British Duke, to reach 100. I'll avoid setting up a fresh poll to save the anxiety of Leon Britten and SC who are severely allergic to new thread creation, but interested to see a show of hands amongst users... who thinks he'll make it vs. not? I'm going to say he will... just.
-
Shouldn't be an issue if you download the BBC News app on your phone and give it permission to send you breaking news notifications. He'll be one of the few deaths that the BBC breaks before it appears on DeathList.

Hollywood Reporter obit.

I'm leaning towards probably still alive given that, as you pointed out, the horse is regarded as a pretty symbolic figure in that area. Looking at Thoroughbred records, out of 10,000s, the oldest horses are 30–34 with the exception of one or two outliers. The oldest on record, ever, was Tango Duke (42, died in 1978) and in recent years it was Prospect Point (38, died in September 2016). These cases are extremely rare. There are many thoroughbred horses on Wikipedia born in the early 90s or earlier that don't have death dates. Many would have simply died off radar IMO. It's not something that people tend to follow closely. As for other horses, there's been some stories of horses reaching their 50s, 60s etc. Guinness World Records even mentions the case of 62 year old "Old Billy" from the 1700s, but such stories are likely myth. So my guess is living but likely not for much longer. Edit: Actually, I forgot that Turkmenistan is an authoritarian dictatorship. North Korea rarely make public the deaths of their officials. Would Turkmenistan really bother telling its people that a horse was dead, especially if they wanted it to have a legendary image?
