I think we've seen this troll before...

He's been moved from a generalist hospital to one which specialises in cardiac and cancer matters. Nothing to do with private vs. state. St. Bart's is the best in the country for the areas they focus in on.

@The Old Crem – 1) Does your boss know that you just sit on your arse all day hitting the refresh button on your Twitter feed? 2) You do realise that when you post a tweet by a journo, and then post a subsequent 10 tweets which say the exact same thing albeit worded slightly differently, that it is no longer "news" and you're essentially just spamming.

    Wrestlers/actors

Your suspicions are correct. This is definitely him as there are no other matches in the records even remotely similar: 1940 United States Federal Census: Name: Dean Higuchi Age: 7 Home: Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii So born 1932–33.

    Peter Lorimer

Or it could be the Jim McLean situation all over again? Tbh, why would you put out a statement at 8pm on a Sunday? They've maybe opted to wait for the "morning call".

    The 100 Club

Rarely go on that page tbh, but just had a quick scroll through it seeing as it's been a while. At least one name has died but is still alive on Wiki... María Teresa Linares Savio (wiki), Cuban musicologist, died back in January aged 100. Nobody cared then, nobody cares now. Wikipedia is full of pages of pointless people!

Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

Interesting... anybody else who's notable and "of a certain age" live nearby you? We'll be sending you round their digs to check in on them. Clipboard in hand, name tag on shirt, representing a fictional organisation so you can extract valuable info for our DDP teams.

    The 100 Club

Don't think this photo was ever posted. From the Daily Mail, August 2020, Australian actress Mary Ward (wiki) on her 105th birthday. Looks very good for her age (potential supercentenarian candidacy?). Then again, this article from the same period suggests her engagement with others was becoming poorer... whatever that means. Anyway, she turns 106 this week!

    British Character Actors

Theatre is one of the areas where my knowledge is terribly poor. Must confess I didn't know Routledge had a prominent stage career until the other day. When I posted about American Hollywood Golden era actress Patricia Marmont dying off radar in December, I subsequently read that after her owning acting career, she became the theatrical agent for Kenneth Branagh and Patricia Routledge!

    Carry On Dying

For completeness, Johnny Briggs dead. BBC obit. Three Carry on films – Carry On Up the Khyber, Carry On Behind and Carry On England. Quite a handsome lad in the 1960s.

    British Character Actors

Yeah alright Mr. Pedantic. Well the list I compiled is a generic one of British television actors over 90, including character actors and sitcom actors. But there isn't a general thread for British television, so in here it went!
  14. Ulitzer95

    British Character Actors

Updated list again to include someone we overlooked – James Martin, who played Eric in Still Game. Turns 90 in a fortnight, so as I'm likely to forget, many happy returns to him for then!

    Deadpool Detective Work

@Spade_Cooley Could've saved myself a lot of time last night. There's a great documentary on Youtube here called The Brits Who Fought For Hitler. At 1:33, the presenter says "We have tracked down the only survivor of the 59 men who passed through Hitler's renegade British SS unit". That survivor being Chipchase, who died in 2012 aged 95. They try to interview him in the documentary and he basically tells them to fuck off. Worth a watch. Anyway, assuming the journos who made the programme actually verified the above statement, they're almost certainly all dead now.

    Political Frailty

Before the 1990s it was particularly bad. There was a period of successive by-elections because of Labour MPs just dying. I think it was very much down to the type of people who were elected as Labour MPs back then i.e. they were more likely to come from more humble beginnings, but that often meant born into poverty, bad diet and lifestyle, manual labour job preceding their parliamentary career and getting hooked into the drinking culture that exists in Westminster. Sir James Spicer, who was a Tory MP from 1974 to 1997 recognised there was a wider problem for the lifestyle of MPs. Too much work + too much drinking + bad diet + no exercise = early grave. He often spoke about it, and campaigned to have a gym installed inside Parliament, which opened in 1978 and remains very popular amongst MPs. Definitely made a big impact. You don't see many MPs just dropping dead from strokes or heart attacks now.

    Political Frailty

Point taken, but I can't think of any of the Conservatives MPs who have been shuffled out since 2015 by Cameron, May or subsequently, became peers and died. So that doesn't account for why there hasn't been any deaths, does it? In fact, there's only been one death of a Conservative who was an MP in any of the Parliaments from 2010 onwards, and that was Sir Peter Tapsell in 2018. And he was pushing 90!

Only Famous For Being Ill And Dying

I feel it’s also worth mentioning, the use of this thread and the general Forum reporting of updates on “make a wish/cancer mum” types is way down thanks to you guys banning their candidacy over at the DDP. It was clearly the right decision. Discussion of them is both uncomfortable and dull. It’s only February and there’s been a noticeable drop in users posting about them.

Only Famous For Being Ill And Dying

To make an entirely pointless non-statement, I agree with both of you. Detest this thread with a passion @msc but I also see PB’s point... if you don’t allow a space for people to occupy their urge to post crap then it just gets spread out elsewhere. Nobody needs to know/cares that Lady Gaga’s dogsitter was shot and wounded, but if FFBI or Family of the Famous didn’t exist, it would just get spread out elsewhere. I much prefer clicking “Mark Forum as read” on the main Forum navigation upon seeing someone has posted in here rather than clicking on to pages of interest to me eg “Dead of 2022” and having to read it.
