Involved in a notorious 1974 sex scandal surrounding Congressman Wilbur Mills (Democrat, Arkansas). Died on the same day as Larry Flynt funnily enough. NY Times obit. Washington Post obit.

Well thanks to new evidence, the good folk over at Wikipedia have now buried Mr. Pearce. Died in 1992 aged 74, rather than being still alive at almost 104! @Dying Probably Do I get to use my sub or were they only there as backup prior to the New Year?

Probably the second last big name of that group. Gary Snyder is not only the oldest now, turning 91 this year, but also the last prominent one. He was a favourite of Ferlinghetti himself. Wiki lists 92 individuals between its categories "Beat Generation writers" and "Beat Generation poets". Of them 14 are still alive. However, maybe half of those are more so "associates" of the core Beat Generation so depends how you define it I guess.

Yes, I think you're correct. Possible that he's alive and a death notice will surface at some point, then IMDb will quickly and quietly change it. Be surprised if news of his demise got past the Star Wars fans. Then again, can't find his John Hancock on the usual sites and he doesn't seem to have appeared at any conventions (maybe cos appearing in the Holiday Special would likely see you get egged).

Great find. That fan site also indicates he had some kind of professional link to Columbia, Missouri (albeit in the 1960s). He's definitely not resident there now though. Jack L Rader of Westminster, California was born May 1931 as per Ancestry. Doesn't give a state of birth though. Can't see anything else of note about him or his wife. Could be him I suppose, but it would mean IMDb are way off with the DOB. Jack Lewis Rader born 2 Jan 1937 as per Ancestry. Doubt this is him. The chap in the Star Wars Holiday Special is definitely older than this. That's all I got.

Totally agree. If Philip has what I suspect he's suffering from, a urinary tract infection, then it's what my gran died from several years ago. She was improving then came a sudden decline (she was 90). When people are in their 80s/90s the kidneys shrivel up and become like little prunes. They don't work too well and operating on a 99 year old for the sake of replacing one would likely be deemed too risky. If I was to wage my bets, it sounds like he'll survive this infection, but the renal problems won't go away and subsequent related problems will arise in the not too distant future.

So another urinary tract infection? He's had them before. Could go either way, but "getting better" suggests he'll make it.

Jack Rader... did he die off radar? Today would be his 100th birthday (according to IMDb anyway... b. 23 Feb 1921 in Los Angeles) Many credits to his name and a regular face in Hollywood films. Familiar to me for his appearances in The Blob and the much loathed Star Wars Holiday Special: Aveleyman profile. IMDb page. Can't find his birth record on Ancestry which means IMDb either have the DOB totally wrong or "Jack Rader" is a stage name which bears no resemblance to his real name.

As I've said before, I don't rate Royal pundits. They're not close to the Royal family so their real time insight isn't worth much.

That was his guess based on his historical medical record, yes. I've asked several people who ought to know what exactly is the matter with him. None of them have any insightful info. Which leads me to two lines of thought: 1) He is considerable worse than is being suggested and it's been hushed up very well. 2) It's nothing serious because if it was, it would be hot gossip amongst those "in the know". I'm inclined to think the latter is the case. It compliments the fact that William said he's fine, the walking into the hospital unaided/"in good spirits" statement and the fact Charles left London after a quick visit, but I know as much as the rest of you in reality.

Not necessarily the case. Time does not always = severity. Some conditions are mild but take time to resolve, e.g. renal conditions (which I suspect is what he's in for).

Death notice for Gene Summers (wiki), aged 82, American rockabilly singer. Passed away after a long hospitalisation due to an injury incurred at home. No hits in the U.K. but seems to have been quite the storm Stateside. A member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame too.

And Jenny Bond was Royal correspondent yet spoke out her arse half the time. A big part of the reason why there is such a high level of interest around the Royals is because they’re quite elusive and private. Writing books on them and being a rent-a-gob for rolling news stations doesn’t make you any closer to them. It’s hard to know what’s going on. Hence since he was hospitalised 5 days ago we’ve already amounted 20-odd pages of pure speculation on this thread.
