Thanks both. I’m always quite curious about WWII veteran numbers. I’ll do a bit of research on Ancestry. There should be service draft cards on there. -
Shlomo Hillel (wiki), Israeli politician; former Speaker of the Knesset and Minister for Police, dead at 97.

I wouldn't read too much into that. His health has been touch and go for years. He was at death's door in February 2020 and yet 12 months later is still here. The Mint will be applying caution. It would be embarrassing to shoot too soon and announce a commemorative coin, only for the occasion of the commemoration not to take place owing to his death. If he's still with us by the end of April expect to hear some more noise about his 100th. Which reminds me, one of the other users owes me a pint if he reaches his 100th. That bet was made almost 2.5 years ago. Sadly I think the user I made the bet with was Deathray. Sod's law. Oh wells.

I don't think he'll make 2022 but worth flagging that 94-year old American poet Robert Bly (wiki) has been suffering from Alzheimer's from at least 2012 (when his daughter made it public) and released his last piece of collection of poems in 2013. Not a DDP pick unfortunately. Legendary actress Frances Sternhagen (wiki), only ever once floated as an idea on DL, hasn't appeared in anything since 2014. She turned 91 last month. I can't find anything on her from the last 5 years. No interviews, photos, health updates. Nada. Ill? I'm not the only one who suspects so as she's a pick for two DDP teams.

The death of Collins means that there are now only two GB footballers left on the List of notable surviving veterans of World War II page, Arthur Smith (105) and Josser Watling (95). Surely there must be a few more than that? @Octopus of Odstock, @michaelf, is this something either of you have information on? -
Christ almighty. Averaging 2 DDP hits a day atm.
-
There's a suggestion box in the waiting area of DDP HQ where I'm sure your opinion will be valued.

We can choose to be really pedantic about this or we can agree that anything with a Yahoo UK or Daily Mail stamp on it qualifies, in order not to complicate things. Check you trying to depreciate ppl of points though. Petty.

That’s all.

4/40 in the Drop40 gone. Two in the last 24 hours alone. Beginners luck though I reckon. Still, I can see there being another 10–12 from that list before the year is out.

He’s a DL pick and has his own thread. The above user is a novice. You’re not, so use the correct thread.

One in ten get a “bad” reaction from it, usually a raised temperature that can last 1-2 days. It’s just the immune system recognising the foreign substance and reacting. However, these “reactions” are not serious and the people who get them are very rarely in any real danger. I reckon his temperature went up, he kicked off, she panicked and called an ambulance. Doubt his life was in any real danger. Katie Price is just a media whore.

Henryk Kozubski, Polish painter and social activist (and also the country's third oldest man), dead at 109.

Quoted in that article as saying "A cat's got seven lives. I've got 100 lives." Never good to gloat. The Reaper hates it.

To be fair, calling yourself "Fart Yoda" is pretty weird too.

Depends how far down the medal table you wish to go. There must be several dozen MCs from WWII still living in the U.K. I listed a couple of notable ones in the 100 Club thread yesterday. I’m not sure where you’d find a full list of them online though. Every one of them will be guaranteed a Telegraph obituary though.

Think you’re too early for that anniversary. February 15th according to this?
