I'll save you guys the bother of even watching this one. He died in 2015. If you translate the name into Arabic (محمود فيزي الهزاع), several news pieces come up from Jan 2015. Using this one, the first two paragraphs translated into English: "Baghdad - The family of a senior officer in the former Iraqi army announced his death in Nassiriya prison “south of the capital, Baghdad, due to torture and health neglect. The "Baghdad Center for Human Rights" quoted the family of Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Fizi Al-Hazaa, as saying: “The authorities of Nassiriya prison in southern Iraq contacted them and informed them to come to the forensic hospital in the city of Nassiriya in order to receive Hazaa’s body." Which wally picked these names? 1) Total pain in the arse for the organisers to add these Arabic names and research them given their obscurity 2) They'll never obit 3) The person didn't even use simple translation tools to check if they're alive?? I'm working through all entries A-Z to try and find names who are already dead. Will post anymore I come across as I go (sorry, I know it's more work for you guys and you're busy but hopefully it helps somewhat).

Dame Margaret Weston (wiki), has died aged 94. She was Director of the Science Museum (1973–1986). Very highly regarded in her field. She played a key role in establishing both the National Railway Museum in York and the National Media Museum in Bradford.

Ken Baker is in good form. I saw him in Hyde Park out on one of his long walks shortly before Christmas. Lovely man too.

Glenn Campbell is tweeting that Tartaglia had a positive COVID test at the time of his death. Edit: Should probably clarify for anyone outside the UK... Glen Campbell, the Scottish broadcaster, not the dead country musician. That would be strange. 2nd edit: Scottish Sun obit. BBC obit. LBC obit. Scotsman obit. Mirror obit.

I try my best not to speak ill of the dead so all I'll say is religious leaders are supposed to bring people together. IMO Tartaglia, much like Keith O'Brien, failed to do this, but rather brought his own faith into disrepute. Namely his comments upon the death of Labour MP and Catholic David Cairns, when he speculated that his death aged 44 was some kind of judgement of god for him being gay. Hopefully his successor will play a better a role in the public eye when it comes to balancing morality and being considerate of others.

Facebook post reporting the death of Mark Goodwin who was Lonnie Donegan’s drummer for several years. Cancer and COVID given as the cause.

Not an act I covered in the UK Singles Chart thread owing to the fact that they merely backed Adam Faith and were pretty trivial but Peter Thorpe of The Roulettes died at the start of January according to this FB post:
-
Celia Humphris of British folk band Trees (wiki) has died according to this.

Telegraph obit. Twin brother Sir Frederick Barclay still alive ofc. Neither of them picked in the DDP.

Not the worst offending thread it has to be stressed. Cancer survivor and entering his mid-70s this year. In saying that, Mormons live bloody long lives, likely because everything is prohibited in that religion – alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, tea and coffee and sex before wedlock, plus they advocate thorough exercise, healthy diets, and don’t eat much meat. I do remember chuckling upon reading that one of their former leaders okied anal sex between married couples at one point to avoid unwanted pregnancies. The head of their church is considered a living prophet so his word is final. A very curious religion indeed.

I think that makes Jon Jon Keefe the last regular male cast member from the show? Turns 81 on 21st Jan. A few of the regular actresses still around. Sue Upton (66), Jenny Lee-Wright (73), Louise English (59) and Lorraine Doyle (62).

Yeah okay. Just scrapes in I suppose. Added.

Oh bugger. Tanya Roberts, Nick Hitchon and now Kenneth Kaunda. So irritating when this happens.
-
Kenneth Kaunda supposedly no longer immortal. Edit: It has been refuted. Never mind.
-
Kenneth Kaunda dead at 96. Well done @deadsox. Edit: never mind.

*Nonce He’s definitely a nonce.

It does now, but only because the author himself got it wrong and has since changed his own post.

Samuel L. Myers Sr. (wiki), economist and university president, dead at 101 according to several tweets.
-
Nick Hitchon a pick for 3 teams I see. Obit should come in next few days. Great age. 115 Up?
-
Genuinely surprised that Gail Halvorsen and Philippe de Gaulle are unique picks for me considering they’re both on their last legs.
-
There were 14 of them. The first documentary was called 7 Up because that’s the age in which they first appeared in the series... and they film them for a new documentary every 7 years. The next one will be 70 Up and will be broadcast in 2026, assuming the project isn’t scrapped. I’m sure it won’t be.

That’s really sad, though he had been terminally ill with throat(?) cancer for some time. Wonder if he was a DDP pick.

@Octopus of Odstock, you can remove Les Dicker (wiki), Tottenham Hotspur/Southend player, because he died back on 17th December, three days shy of his 94th birthday. -
You’ll last long here.

4/5 of the Bush siblings dead then. Banker Jonathan Bush (wiki) survives. Turns 90 this year.
