This was the list I posted in Ideas and Possibilities for 2021 on 29th December. I've listed the names in no particular order. Just 50 celebrities who I believe do actually stand a good chance of dying this year. Unlike "totes banter too big to miss picks" like QEII : 1) Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh 2) Bob Dole 3) Murray Walker 4) Leon Spinks 5) Betty White 6) Bob Barker 7) Henry Kissinger 8) Jimmy Carter 9) Leslie Phillips 10) Tony Bennett 11) Harry Belafonte 12) Prunella Scales 13) Desmond Tutu 14) Jacques Delors 15) Abdelaziz Bouteflika 16) Shane MacGowan 17) Dick Cheney 18) Imelda Marcos 19) Joanne Woodward 20) Tom Smith 21) General Pervez Musharraf 22) Tom Parker 23) Sidney Cooke 24) Sarah Harding 25) Carlos Menem 26) Dilip Kumar 27) Philippe de Gaulle 28) Katherine Jackson 29) Tim Curry 30) Pope Benedict XVI (returning) 31) Winnie Ewing 32) Barbara Walters (returning) 33) Jimmy Greaves (returning) 34) Ian St. John (returning) 35) Sidney Poitier (returning) 36) Mikhail Gorbachev (returning) 37) Larry King (returning) 38) Cleo Laine (returning) 39) Linda Nolan (returning) 40) Olivia Newton-John (returning) 41) Superstar Billy Graham 42) Beverly Cleary 43) Jerry Lee Lewis (returning) 44) Ozzy Osbourne (returning) 45) Monica Vitti 46) Norman Lloyd 47) Rush Limbaugh 48) James Whale 49) Bill Turnbull 50) George Alagiah

Thank you! All a bit confusing. Surprisingly they're not even talking about him on any of the boxing forums, and there's even been one or two articles about Raging Bull from leading sites out in the last few days. Nothing on Joey's death, simply because I imagine they're all unaware.

Appears to be fake news. The guy who looks after him posts these regularly, and he posted 3 new ones yesterday. In the comments section he refers to LaMotta in the present. What I will say is it's apparent that LaMotta is in bad health. Looks like the effects of a stroke. Turning 96 this year. Wonder if anyone picked him in the DDP.

What makes you suspect he's not?

Daily Mail reporting on the death of Murray Riley (wiki), aged 94. His death occurred “some months ago” but was only learnt of over Christmas. Murray was a colourful individual to say the least. An Australian rower; he won an Olympic bronze medal (1956) and two Empire/Commonwealth gold medals (1950, 1954). After the Olympics he became a police officer but was dismissed due to misconduct. He later became an infamous drug trafficker and fraudster, working closely with the Los Angeles Mafia. He twice escaped prison, with his 1994 break out of a British jail culminating in his freedom after he fled to the Gold Coast of Australia (the UK chose not to extradite due to cost).

13 have reached their centenary in modern history. "One or two". Another CoffinLodger alternative fact?

He’s a goner then, and will be the first significant miss of DL this year.

Paatje Phefferkorn (wiki), Dutch martial artist, dead at 98 according to the Facebook post below. I was aware that he had been ill (even before he caught COVID-19), and his death was misreported at least once in the past. I didn’t put him on my DDP team in the end because I didn’t think he would obit. Let’s see if I’m right or not.

Wasn’t a very funny joke. I’d suggest it’s not our IQs which are at fault, it’s your punchlines. -

Not the case. Even most republicans don’t have time for “The Real IRA”. -
Sun obit for Barry Austin, a former DDP pick.

LaWanna Shurtliff (wiki), an incumbent member of the Utah House of Representatives, dead at 85.

NY Times reporting the death of director Joan Micklin Silver (wiki). Hester Street (1975) among her work, which saw an Oscar nomination for actress Carol Kane.

I had him on my longlist for years, from about 2010 onwards. Eventually gave up on the guy because he just kept going on and on. 52 is no age, but I'm actually shocked he lived that long given his size!

List updated for the death of Mark Eden.

Updated for the death of Wright. Another charting group completely gone. Also added Independent obit for Phyllis McGuire. Seems to be getting a lot of coverage now.

Obit for academic Roy Douglas (wiki), who died in mid-December aged 95. Worthy of a mention in here because he stood as a candidate (for the Liberals) in the 1950 and 1951 UK General Elections. I'm not aware of any other candidates from those elections still living.
