The Herald calling her "legendary", a word which is often tossed around too charitably these days. I don't think anyone currently living who is associated with Scottish Labour could be considered a "legend". Perhaps they meant leg-end?

Will the 2020 DeathList break the 2017 DeathList record?

Ok, so you do realise that Vera Lynn, de Havilland and Kirk Douglas were picked for consecutive years without any of them dying until 2020? -
Will the 2020 DeathList break the 2017 DeathList record?
Ulitzer95 replied to GWB_'s topic in DeathList Forum
No it won't. It's easily doable. The Committee just needs to stop picking people who are total wildcards e.g. Alan Greenspan and stop reserving about 20 spots for folk who are "too big to miss" but unlikely to actually die anytime soon e.g. the Queen. -
Napolitano please. I reckon her Majesty is out on an assassin job to become the oldest living European head of state.

5 years out of 43 does not = “usually” In fact, it means usually not.
-
Not really. The only big name to die on Christmas Day for the entire decade of the 2010s was George Michael in 2016. Then you have to go back to Eartha Kitt in 2008 and James Brown in 2006 to get other big names.

I reckon we could get just one more in, though going through the list there's not many possibilities shouting out at me. It would have to be one of the people in their mid to late 90s that we haven't heard from in a while e.g. Jacques Delors or Leslie Phillips. That's IF COVID or a sudden heart attack don't blow my logic out of the water. I know we've had 2 COVID hits but a 3rd is statistically unlikely. Sutcliffe REFUSED any treatment and VGD was in a frail state from several hospitalisations earlier in the year. So either one more, or we're done for the year. I'll be an optimist and say the former – we'll get a 19th, then we're done!

Dead. So it was a former French President who set the DL record. Feels wrong somehow Anyway, well done committee. A great year indeed.

Updated for the death of Mike McCormack (wiki), who has died just short of his 99th birthday. No news report yet but a mention here.

Definitely something wrong with my Google Search! I even changed the time frame to the last 12 months and nothing came up!

Can't seem to figure out Prescott's state of wellbeing, hence I think putting him on the list next year would be quite a risk. He had his stroke in June 2019. Since then he hasn't given an interview or spoken in the Lords, and he hasn't tweeted since June 2019 either. However, he's been voting regularly in the Lords, every week in fact, including today. He hasn't been pictured since early 2019. A photo would be most welcome. Surely he'll be sat in the Chamber somewhere during some of the proceedings. So, what are his odds on seeing 2022 do we think?

Death of Patterson leaves just two people who were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during the 1990s. Ivan Putski and Johnny Rodz. Both turning 80 next year!

I think someone else is dead from that music video too IIRC... Tara Palmer-Tomkinson? She was in the main series if not the music video.

An off radar death (not that he would ever obit)... Eddy Morrison (wiki), a veteran far right/neo-Nazi activist in Britain, died in June aged 70 following a fall. A leading figure within the National Front and closely aligned with John Tyndall. Which reminds me... Former National Front leader Tom Holmes (wiki) is still alive, and will turn 90 next year, and according to some chit chat online was in a care home as of 2019... now he COULD obit, but it's a risk. Edit: John Bean (wiki) also worth a mention. 94 next year. Obit chances minimal though.

Thanks for this! Confirms our suspicions that she wouldn't have died without someone eventually notifying the press. Article is from October, notes that she died on May 5th. Interesting to note that both twins died of cancer. Both of them refused any treatment. Now I can understand why the second did it – the article makes it clear that she wanted to be reunited with her sister. Curious as to why the first did so back in 2007 though.

I reckon Betram Bowyer, 2nd Baron Denham (wiki) will be an easy DDP hit next year. 93 and hasn't voted in the Lords since 2017 (and last spoke in the chamber in 2014). Once very active, it does suggest he has been ill for some time. Served in the Governments of Macmillan, Douglas-Home, Heath, Thatcher and Major. He's currently the longest serving member, having sat since 1949! If he dies or retires, that record will fall all the way down to 1962, when David Trefgarne, 2nd Baron Trefgarne (wiki), 79, joined.

Thought I'd bring this back. Sir Doug Scott (wiki) is 80 in May with terminal brain cancer. I doubt he will see 2022. The only question is, is he "DeathListy enough" to feature?

Peg Murray (wiki), American stage and television actress, allegedly dead at 96. Won a Tony Award in 1967 for her role in the original stage production of Cabaret. Also appeared in Broadway productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Gypsy. -
I’m really opposed to sticking her on again. The point of the DL is to get as many hits as possible. Therefore it should be composed of names we believe will die next year, not old people where there is a remote possibility of them dying. It’s just a waste of a space that could be used for a near certain hit instead.
-
3 wasted picks.

SC, just leave the forum. It’s evident that you’re not happy with the general conduct of other users here as all you ever do is whinge and complain. In the UK there’s a big conversation going on right now about whether using your head to hit the ball in association football should be banned because of the statistical likeliness of former professionals developing dementia. Therefore it’s very topical right now, and as the posts above demonstrate, focusing a list leads to other users providing new names. All useful for deadpooling which is why we’re ultimately here. I don’t recall you unearthing any fresh possibilities lately. Just copy and pasting news articles and constantly moaning. So either contribute or just STFU and take your sarcasm elsewhere. Stop trying to belittle other users, especially ones who have been here for far longer than you.

Ah, hold on a minute though. All the videos being uploaded onto his channel are archived clips from before his withdrawal from public life in 2014. Still MIA IMO.
-
Well not much use submitting dead names for next year’s list, is it?
-
Sadowy, Connery, Champion and Fleming are already dead.
