Love this. It's a very iconic tune and I'm somewhat surprised it hasn't been resurrected in the charts by an act in recent times. When I was digging out the song for the section above, I learnt that there was a dance which accompanied it upon its original release. A dance so awful that anyone would be forgiven for thinking that Stevie Wonder choreographed it.

Cheers. No need to go through the parent route. Found him in the GRO okay. Born in Christchurch as Daniel G Balkwill, 1949. Also just found Malcolm "Mal" Player in there in 1952. John Jones is on FB. Now goes under Joe Jones and plays with the QED rock band. Says he's from Leicester originally on his profile, now lives in Yetminster. Born 14th April. Can't find him in GRO or Ancestry to get the year. Anyway, pretty happy with that haul of info. Moving on...

Interesting that not only did the British press completely miss this one, nobody on DL picked up on it at the time.

Cheers, added!

The Collins Complete UK Hit Singles book says French. Discogs says German, as does this page, so let's go with that. NB2: Not sure who to list as members here. The three songwriters – Stefan Klinkhammer, Peny Duc (aka Lana Sebastian) and her brother May Ambruster (aka Paul Sebastian) are listed as members on Discogs. However, it doesn't appear that Ambruster recorded on the above single. A list of session musicians are given on the Discogs page for the corresponding album but its unclear which ones were on the single, or if they were actual members. Hope he’s got his copy of the Yellow Pages handy for a funeral director. -
Are you a betting man? I’d quite like a cheeky £20 when the announcement is made.
-
Updated. Surely more of these guys are dead. Anybody know anything? Is Stevie Faye (b. 1927) still with us? He’d be the oldest.

Put all my faith in de Havilland. Old girl let me down! Cleary hasn’t been heard of much since her 101st. Atkins keeps cropping up now and now. I reckon he’ll win. -

I agree things are dire in the States. However, putting aside that they died back in April when the virus was much more prevalent, they were 83 and 85, and the son looks heavily overweight. Doesn’t put things into perspective beyond what we already know – if you’re old or fat then ‘rona gonna get ya.

Absolutely. At one point he was never off of the news.

Helen Yate, British Olympic swimmer supposedly dead at 99. The edit has been reverted but Canadian Paul has scrubbed her off his personal list which tends to confirm it’s true. She was the oldest female British Olympian (and the 2nd oldest overall after Jasper Blackall, who just turned 100). -

Carlo Rolandi, a prominent name in Italian sailing, dead at 94. Mentioning because he participated in an incredible NINE Olympic Games between 1948 and 1992 – the first six as a competitor, the last three as a jurist. -
Thanks. Added those three to Highly Likely. Yeah they were probably all just session musicians anyway. It looks like Hugg, McGuinness and Rivers were the primary ones though. I might have a digger deep Sunday when I’m back at my desk. Hi-Tension. Yes I agree. About 1/3 of the lineup above are not traceable e.g the early saxophonist Sydor. However, from looking at their Twitter/FB pages they have a good habit of alerting fans when an associated member of the group or a relative of a member dies. So there’s a possibility they’re all still about and we’ll hear when the first passes.

Added, cheers.

Depends. Isn’t the point of the List to score the most hits per annum and between drops/substitutions, try and minimise misses to the lowest number possible?
