It reminds me of Ruby Muhammad or even Lyndon LaRouche to an extent. Coverage was meagre and final confirmation took some time. It’s typical of cult types – they have a habit of shunning the traditional mainstream media.

I emailed TMZ. They wanted to report it because they’ve covered him in the past. They could find no confirmation that he had died.

Watching the Eurovision special on the BBC right now. Didn’t realise that Switzerland had a 95 year old represent them in 2013. Emil Ramsauer of group Takasa. Anyway, he’s still alive. Turned 102 in Feb!

Quite “shocked” to read this (I know, I know, he was 86 but still). I always associated him as being an actor who was quite active in his later years but I guess I am thinking about 10 years ago.

One from my long list: Bletchley Park codebreaker Ann Katharine Mitchell dead at 97. -
So 7 gone and 7 left. Pretty good longevity amongst the actors in fairness.

How many Brides and Brothers are we down to now? Jane Powell and the chap who was in Twin Peaks spring to mind. I’d check but I’m out and about and want someone else to do it

Gérard Dionne, Canadian Roman Catholic bishop, has died a month before his 101st birthday.

Just an FYI – I'm watching the edit war ensue on Wikipedia on Hutton Gibson's page. In the comments section of the last revert to his page, someone is now refuting the fact he is dead.

Updated the entry for The Pretty Things. As posted elsewhere, frontman Phil May died today as a result of surgical complications following a bicycle accident.

Since the last update I posted, other than completing the letters M and S, I added quite a few featured artists to other letters but I think only three had missing info: Millard Thomas (Harry Belafonte's long time guitarist), The Curls and The Clark Brothers. I will contact Colin Green, he seems to have been in quite a few of these outfits and could probably help loads. I'm not sure what to do with the next lot yet. I will definitely do just the 1970s first, rather than lumped together with another decade like this was. I was thinking of going on GoDaddy tonight, buying a web page and making a start on 70s "A" there. I suppose I could just post a message/appeal for info here each time I've updated the site with a new letter? Would save some middlestepping/congestion in this thread.

Big thanks to those who helped provide info @Clorox Bleachman, @Cerberus, @Cat O'Falk, @Spade_Cooley, @Toast and a special thanks to @YoungWillz who seems to have a gift for researching!

Should we send him a DL mug like we did with Ronnie Biggs?

Right, I've finished. All acts from the first two decades of the UK Singles Chart are now listed on page one. S and M now complete and I added the vast majority of featured artists such as The Curls, The Anita Kerr Singers, The Jordanaires, The Imperials and most orchestra leaders. Some acts are just too obscure though, with virtually no info e.g. Anne Warren who duetted with Ruby Murray on one record, so I've left them out. I also added Consortium and Jackie Dennis who I missed first time round. I'm pretty happy with the "end result" and this is without a doubt the most complete list out there but it's by no means finished as I've now started reaching out to some artists to appeal for info. Terry Anderson from B Bumble and the Stingers got back to me and asked me to call him (a stroke has impaired his ability to type responses) and Tony Wilson of Hot Chocolate responded and is going to get back to me with info on what happened to his other partner in The Soul Brothers. I will add info as it comes in, and I will start the 1970s soon(ish). I wish these showbiz types would put up and shut up, and leave it to the medical professionals who know what they're talking about. There's no evidence at all that chloroquine is an effective treatment against coronavirus. In fact, there's incidents of people taking it and making themselves worse as a result of the side effects.

Depends who's asking. For Wikipedia standards – no, it's a blog. For everyone else in the real world, probably.

Poor guy, feel really bad for him. Opioid addiction at 21? Just how?

Hmmm... he was quite notable in his own right.

Could also go in the Dying Bigots thread... Hutton Gibson, father of Mel Gibson and all round nasty piece of work dead at 101 according to this thread.
-
He is indeed. 89 this year.
-
92 today!
-
Jeremy Paxman turned 70 yesterday. Honestly never imagined he was that old.
-
87 yesterday. Farrakhan is another up there on my “How are they still alive?” list. Unless I’m imagining it, he at one point had serious health problems?
