Death notice for 1930s child actor Martin Spellman who has died aged 94. Career was finished by 1941, at which point the U.S. was entering WWII and he enlisted to serve. Later worked in finance and insurance... well everyone sells their soul eventually.

    Internet Celebrities

Had symptoms of coronavirus. Refused to go to hospital saying that he had “no plans of dying in a hospital” and hoped it was just bad hayfever. Symptoms got worse and died in the hospital anyway. Darwin Award.

Crossposting. American soul and R&B singer Betty Wright dead at 66. Metro obit. Four charting singles in the UK between 1975 and 1989. This is turning into a brutal year for the UK charts.

Good Golly Miss Molly. I turn my phone off for an hour and this happens. To be fair, I’m surprised he lived this long giving his decades of health problems. RIP. EDIT: Should point out that of the inaugural inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, only Jerry Lee Lewis and Don Everly of The Everly Brothers are still alive.

Doreen de Veuve, found her marriage record. Her husband is famous businessman and thoroughbred owner Michael Tabor. She's born in April 1941 as per Company Check, and that's good enough for me. Pam "Zooey" Quinn... Rate Your Music says real name is Pamela Houghton. There are a few Tampa residents on Ancestry which could be her, here are two of the more likely: Pamela H Houghton b. 28/4/1947 (would mean the info about her being the youngest in the link above would have to be wrong)... it says she has a PO Box address though... hmmm Pamela M Quinn b. 15/12/1953 (would've made her 15 when she was on that track, not impossible but also means she would have had to legally change her name to Quinn at some point). Anyway, nothing substantial but worth noting incase anything else comes to light in the meantime.

Yes was thinking that myself. @Cat O'Falk reveal yourself so we know the 'rona hasn't got you. Whilst I'm here @YoungWillz, I spoke to one of my mates who is a local journo in Portsmouth. Ronnie Harris is still living there in his 90s, though I'm told he's pretty frail. Still, must be one of the earliest UK acts still kicking about.

Someone has edited the Wiki page of Johnny Gregory to say he died on 22nd April aged 95. I’ll leave his entry for now until there’s confirmation via an obit or the GRO.

    World War II Veterans

Sad that this news should come today of all days. Flight lieutenant William Clark, died yesterday at the age of 101. Source. John Hemingway is now the last surviving RAF airman of the Battle of Britain.

For anyone interested, Absolute Radio have set up a one day only Radio 40s station you can find here. They're playing records from 1920s–1940s, news clips from the day and talking with veterans. A lot of it is very entertaining stuff. Jim Radford and Captain Tom Moore appeared earlier. Though had to turn it off temporarily when Frank Skinner came on to play a George Formby song on his uke – just awful.

    Vera Lynn

Is that new footage? Based on the tabloid pics we've seen of her recently, I'm not convinced.
