Not sure if we have an Aussie Rules thread or not but AFL player for Essendon, Jack Jones, has died aged 95. Last month he was interviewed about his new cancer diagnosis and said he was ready to go any time.

I’ve thought about this but not sure it will happen. How many of the Nats are loyal to him over her? Probably not enough. Though interesting to see so many of them are stepping down at the next election...

It’s not. They’re announcing curfews.

Fixed that for you.

Robert H. Scarborough, Vice Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard (1978–82), dead at 97 -
Lord Ted Graham, has died days before his 95th birthday. A Labour peer, he had been the oldest member of the House of Lords since Lord Carrington’s death, though I don’t think he was still attending. Also MP for Edmonton (1974–83), a WWII veteran and cousin of Baroness Oona King (former Labour MP for Bethnal Green and Bow). To my knowledge, there are now only 4 living former MPs who served in WWII. Lord Christopher, who is 95 next month, is now the oldest member of the House of Lords. Tribute from the Co-operative Party.

Hi Michael, Welcome! OoO seems to be the best authority here on this topic but I’m happy to help in any way I can too. Do you have a cut off year for when you know Dewis Brown was definitely still alive? His birth record in the GRO matches the date on Hugman’s but he’s listed as “William Dewiss Brown” (note the double ‘s’). Not sure if this is of any use. I can’t find a death record in England and Wales up to 2019. -

1) I asked members if they were interested in me doing that thread and quite a few responded yes 2) I’ve been putting a lot of original research into that thread as the info isn’t readily available online. The biggest contribution you make is cut and pasting stories about obscure ppl from your Google news feed. Take a fucking seat.- 39 replies

Love it. I might eventually pinch this and add to UK Singles Chart thread (if I ever make it into the 2000s). If only you had been brave enough to cover the whole of the top 75 -

Phil Phillips, 89, American singer-songwriter, best known for his 1959 U.S. hit “Sea of Love” has died according to an edit, and on his birthday too! Sadly his version of the song was never a hit here in the UK but Marty Wilde had a No. 3 UK hit with his own cover later that same year. -

Muting this thread now, just becoming incredibly trivial and silly. Vast vast majority of these ppl won’t die from it. Bad enough that LBC, Sky, BBC, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook are talking about this 24/7. It’s boring. Someone ping me when we have cases in notable people of an advanced age.
