A reliable source told me yesterday that Prince Philip’s health has taken a big turn for the worst in the last week. Suggested to expect an announcement in the next few weeks, if not days. Could be exaggerating but this person would know and they tend to be on the money.

To answer both the best I can... 1) Nobody knows, many bands in the 50s/60s simply had one or two hits then faded into obscurity so the bios of all members including DOB isn't known. Of those that are known, Vera Lynn b. March 1917, is the obvious go to answer. 2) Of whom we're certain to be alive: Vera Lynn (24th UK No.1), then Tony Bennett (32nd UK No. 1), and then Joey Ambrose (39th UK No. 1, as part of Billy Haley & his Comets). Though there is one group who has members that are thus far unaccounted for... The Stargazers (7th & 17th UK No. 1) had a female member called Marie Benson (born 30 April 1926 in Australia) who I can't locate a death date for. It is possible she is still alive aged 93. I can't find any details on another member, David Carey. Of the others who sang on their UK No. 1 singles: Dick James died in 1986, Cliff Adams in 2001, Fred Datchler in 2001, and Ronnie Milne, as recently as 2014 aged 92.

Clyde Davenport, old-time fiddler and banjo player, dead at 98. EDIT: Confirmation -
Looks like the editors at Wikipedia have accepted a new name to the list of oldest living state leaders as the Governor Generals of Andorra are in practice state heads. Francesc Badia Batalla b. 1923 One to add to the next round drol?

Not exactly. Flack started as an actress in Bo Selecta and then Weapons of Mass Distraction. I thought she was quite good in both tbh and not sure why she turned to presenting.

I think he’ll be around for a while longer. Some big moments coming up for himself and the Queen so he has some big dates to look forward to. In July she’ll have sat on the throne for 25,000 days, his 100th is 16 months away and the Platinum Jubilee just under 24 months away.

I’m Scottish. I actually wouldn’t mind them changing the name for the very opposite reason - that bank has become so toxically associated with scandal after scandal that it shouldn’t have a name that makes it sounds like it’s a national bank. I closed my RBS account years ago. I do find it amusing that after everything they’ve been through and done, only now do you consider leaving because they’re changing their name

NatWest (as everyone calls it, nobody calls it “National Westminster”) is already an existing bank and brand, owned by RBS. The name RBS is still synonymous with the banking crash of ‘08. If they feel that by now they still can’t shake off a bad reputation then a rebrand is a sensible move. It’s not an anti-Scottish conspiracy that you and the cybernats of Twitter would like to believe. Tell me, are you also one of the mad Nats who boycotts Tunnock’s Tea Cakes after they introduced a Union Flag symbol on the packet, and do you think MI5 rigged the 2014 referendum?

Snowflake much. How old are you?

You can also move Pistor and Bothe from blue to red as their deaths have been verified now. Bothe's page was finally settled on Wiki as her having died in 2000 (there was previous doubt as to whether she had died - the confusion occurred because an interview with her from the 1990s was mislabelled on YouTube as 2007, as it was rebroadcasted that year). Ernst-August Pistor (his full name is provided in the court documents online) has an obit from several months after his trial here.

It also fails to mention that not far behind him in 2nd place is the UK’s Bob Weighton.

Article claims that the Twitter account is fake and that the minister in question isn't even on Twitter.

Died off the radar but worth a mention. Taufeek Khanjar, who made headlines in 2012 after becoming a British citizen aged 104, died in Sutton in 2018 at the alleged age of 110/111 according to the GRO database: KHANJAR, TAUFEEK BAGGAL 1907 GRO Reference: DOR Q1/2018 in Sutton (254-1A) Entry Number 516920198 Mentioning because he was picked in the DDP in 2014.

Can’t do something as sensible as that. We’ve got to make room for big names like Bill Gates Sr.
-
Fuck. I thought he'd just fall completely off the radar. Lucky sod!
