My bad!

With the death of Kirk Douglas, de Havilland is now the last person born in the 1910s to have been nominated or won an Academy Award.
-
Amazing actor. Thought he’d go on forever. RIP Kirk.

We seem to have missed this one. John Thornett Lawrence, another member of The Few died on 18th December aged 99. The fact that we had at least two deaths last year of Airmen who weren’t listed on the Battle of Britain Memorial site’s survivors page suggests to me that there may be some others still out there besides the two listed above.

Thanks msc but that’s besides the point. I’m asking somebody to clarify DDP rules. It isn’t mentioned on the page, and they’re two separate publications so naturally there are stories covered in one that don’t appear in the other - the coverage of Roy Walton’s death being a good example. May not have been picked in the DDP but raises the question of whether it would have counted. The Herald and The Scotsman are not qualifying sources according to the rules page. Again, The Scottish Sun is not the same publication as The Sun, so I’m interested in hearing clarification on this one. Does beg the question of whether rules should be modified. The Sun is NOT a national circular as it isn’t widely available in Scotland. So surely begs the question why The Herald, Scotsman and Scottish Sun are not allowed.

Scottish Sun obit Can’t see anything about this on the rules page. Does this count as a QO for DDP purposes? (It should seeing as the Scottish Sun replaces circulation of The Sun north of the border, even if they are separate papers with different editorials).

Hollywood Reporter reveal that an investigation has found that Oscar-nominated actress Catherine Burns who had vanished from sight, died in February 2019 aged 73 following complications of a fall and cirrhosis of the liver.

I don't particularly like him, but I wouldn't wish anyone dead. If you've got that much anger inside you, says a lot about yourself. Also, it's one of the reasons why these guys get the crowds. They weaponise the vitriol and hate against them by saying "Look how crazy these people are. They want me dead. I must be doing something right. I'm saying something they don't want to be said".

Telegraph obit

A very poor local obit from Your Harlow here. Author gets his age and name wrong.
-
Died today, a month shy of his 101st birthday, according to this military forum post.
-
Won't see his 101st as he's just died.

We’ve been getting “one of the last Navajo Code Talkers/Tuskegee Airmen” for well over a decade now. The truth is the U.S. media are clueless as to how many are actually left.
-
That’s 3 times now you’ve picked the same name immediately after me in the same thread. You claim to have me blocked and yet you directly quoted me in another thread a few weeks ago. A cynic would think that you don’t actually have me blocked and that you’re just trying to be a pain to either myself or drol

Watched 1998 film Meet Joe Black last night. It was pretty meh. Turns out the dying Jamaican woman in the film is still alive. She’ll be 103 this year! Lois Kelly Miller A few news articles on her online. Also a WWII vet.

I think Sir Bellend has muted me again.

So is it a new round or not? Either way I’m sticking with Moi until he dies!

Given that he was the only one well enough to attend any of the recent commemorations it isn’t unthinkable that the remaining Few will pass this year. Edit: For clarity, there are now just TWO surviving Airmen: 1) William Clark b. Apr 1919 2) John Hemingway b. Jul 1919
