Confused by this one. Lord Heath (normally reliable) say she did die in November. Yet here is an article from her local press with an interview and write up on her, dated 26th December 2019. Ummm?

Patrick Jordan has died according to an edit to his Wiki page claiming to come from his family.
-
That's a very old rumour which he himself denied. He's made a lot of talk show appearances since. Says he just fell out of love with acting in Hollywood. It happens.

Online memorial for Michael Karkoc. Died in December aged 100. Hopefully nobody picked him in the DDP!

Huge. Longest ruler in the Middle East at nearly 50 years. It was announced in December that he had just weeks to live. Did we miss that or just choose to omit him anyway?

Agreed that a lot of them have been dropping off recently. Thought I'd take this opportunity to look at how many WWII veterans from the three strands of government in the U.S. are still with us. There are 4 living formers members of the House of Representatives who served: b. 1919: Lester L. Wolff b. 1920: Neal Edward Smith b. 1921: Mike McCormack b. 1923: Bob Dole, Al Quie b. 1924: Frank Joseph Guarini, Weston E. Vivian b. 1925: Fletcher Thompson, G. William Whitehurst, Lucien Nedzi b. 1926: J. Roy Rowland, Elwood Hillis, Earl Hutto, Mark Andrews, Robert J. Lagomarsino b. 1927: Benjamin B. Blackburn, Arthur Ravenel Jr., Austin Murphy, Bud Brown, Edwin Edwards, Jim Weaver, James W. Symington There are no living Senators who served: b. 1923: James Buckley, Bob Dole (also listed above) b. 1925: Daniel Evans b. 1926: Mark Andrews (also listed above) b. 1927: John Warner There are 3 living Governors who served: b. 1921: John Malcolm Patterson b. 1922: Wayne Mixson b. 1923: William Winter, Al Quie (also listed above), Linwood Holton b. 1924: Dale E. Wolf, Jimmy Carter b. 1925: Ted Schwinden, Daniel Evans (also listed above) b. 1926: George Ariyoshi b. 1927: Phil Batt, George Nigh, Winfield Dunn, Edwin Edwards (also listed above) Jimmy Carter (also listed above) is of course the only living President who served. There are no living Vice Presidents who served. 1 living member of the Cabinet who served: Johnson administration: Alan Stephenson Boyd (b. 1922), Ramsey Clark (b. 1927) NONE! Nixon administration: Henry Kissinger (b. 1923), George Shultz (b. 1920) NONE! Ford administration: Henry Kissinger (b. 1923, also listed above) NONE! Carter administration: Charles Duncan (b. 1926), Ray Marshall (b. 1928) Reagan administration: George Shultz (b. 1920, also listed above) NONE! No living justices of the Supreme Court who served following the death of John Paul Stevens (1920–2019). As far as I know, these are complete. I will do the UK (Commons and Lords) when I get time, but that will probably involve more research.

Fred Richmond, a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives died on 28th December aged 96 in a nursing home from pneumonia. Served between 1975 and 1982. Also a WWII veteran. Quite an eye catching line on his Wiki page: "In April 1978, Richmond was arrested in Washington for soliciting sex from a 16-year-old boy."

Forgive me if mentioned already... Les Chadwick, bassist of Gerry and Pacemakers, died on Boxing Day in Sydney from brain cancer. Liverpool Echo story here. Also mentioned on their official FB page here.
-
There is absolutely no way to tell how old they actually were. Could have easily both been 20 years younger than claimed. They only emigrated to the UK in the 60s. Going to start a new life in your 50s abroad is a bit... strange.

Someone has edited Elizabeth Sellars' Wikipedia page to say she died yesterday (30th).

Can't find anything so I would assume still living, but not possible to know for sure really. Recent U.S. death records are not publicly accessible online.

Minimalists (and other classical composers/musicians)

American concert pianist Abbey Simon, who would have turned 100 at the start of January, dead according to this. -
We still don’t have an illustrators thread according to a search? Anyway, Tom Adams, illustrator of the Agatha Christie books, dead at 93.
-
Added George Wein and Joe Negri.

List updated. Kudos to anyone who can find out what happened to Bill Graham. Can't find anything recent on this guy.

TCM Remembers 2019 is up. No Shane Rimmer and Nancy Gates. They got just about everyone else though.

Dirty old bastard!

She was also the Chief of Clan Sutherland, a role that her son now resumes. There are very few female clan chiefs in Scotland I believe. Her death also means Prince Philip now enters the top 3 oldest hereditary peers.

He won’t lose his seat. Pointless discussion.
-
I see somebody who claims to be his son keeps editing his Wikipedia claiming that he was born in 1930, not 1925. So may have a few years left in him yet.

Ian Holm is quite frail. I think the other Everly brother is fine. What about Little Richard instead?

Whilst he identified as being on the "left", I see him as more of a centrist. He was always critical of the socialist/commie types, supported the war in Iraq and was a climate change skeptic. To be fair, his views were all over the place. A hard one to place. He liked to think for himself, that made him unique. RIP.
