Yawn. Deathbed? He’s probably just lying on his actual bed, FaceTiming arap Moi and Mubarak as they decide amongst themselves who’s putting on the next play.

Why so sure? She’s still working, appears to be in excellent physical conditional. Of the 26 names ahead of her on the list, many have been in and out of hospitals like yo-yos and all are male. She’s the only woman. Add 4 years to life expectancy over the competition. I reckon she will do it.

Second oldest Brit is now a man. It’s been a while...

Peter Tobin, Ivan Milat and Rose West are all very ill and Sidney Cooke turns 93 in April. I know there’s limited space on the DL but I reckon all 4 will kick the bucket in the next year.

I note that Elizabeth II is currently 27th oldest living state leader (Wiki list includes heads of state and government and both current and former). Anybody think she WON’T make it to the #1 spot?

Drop for a few years I’d say

John Mann says he will quit as an MP at the end of this month as he leaves Labour and becomes a non-affiliated peer in the House of Lords. Assuming we won’t have a GE in 2019, by-election it is.

Can the DL Committee please pledge not to put such a non-entity on the list ever again? Soap stars are z list celebrity level unless they’re soap legends like Barbara Windsor or June Brown.
-
God she was annoying. EDIT: article says she died way back in September. So they’ve only just announced it? Family is annoying too.

A big name in the world of mathematics: John Tate dead at 94. -
Well someone into their cricket clearly reads this site. ESPN have confirmed he died in 2014.
-
This link reporting that Van Kerkhoven died in June 2017 but that it went unnoticed until now.

Why? I read the entire thing. She gave him her blessing to get married again. What’s the problem?
-
Greatly exaggerated!

We also say wank as short for wanker. As in, “Sir Creep is a total wank”.

Correct. Arthur Ashkin was 96 when he was awarded it last year. He was supposedly too frail to go in person to collect his award.
-
Three co-recipients announced for the Chemistry prize. One of them, John B. Goodenough, is 97 and therefore the oldest Nobel laureate ever. I reckon he’s good enough for next year’s DL.

Shingler’s family tweeting about her death here. Basically confirming what you suggested, she put in her best effort to hang in to reach the milestone, knowing that she’d soon go.
-
Joey’s quote was talking about living recipients from WWII, not all living recipients. Thought you had me blocked anyway?

Francis Currey has died aged 94. Just 2 remain.
