Becomes an MBE. Nothing for his terminally ill bandmate Andy. Bit mean.

Magic Johnson, And Other Basketball Players

Johnny Macknowski died back in April, aged 101. Announcement by family here (EU blocked). Picked on some pools on here. Think this means that Herb Wilkinson (wiki), 100, is now the oldest living BAA (the former NBA) basketball player. -
Starmer lying? Imagine my shock.

It’s fine to do these things in your 60s. For the love of god just bring someone with you in case something goes wrong!

I wasn't questioning the existence of this thread.

American poet, author, and WWII hero Edward Field (wiki) turned 100 yesterday.

I’m skeptical. Reading up on her she strikes me as a hypochondriac/attention seeker. A read through of the “Health” sub section on her Wiki is extraordinary – she seems to have been diagnosed with several new conditions every year since 2015. I don’t believe you can be that unlucky. Just seems like bs to me. The BBC article says “although the 29 year old did not identify her conditions, she hinted in an Instagram…” and that for me is a red flag. Nobody close to her can come out and says she’s not being honest cos she hasn’t explicitly said anything.

FFS. If you were to come up with a list of ways to make the Lords even worse than the status quo, I’d suggest do this. Labour, as usual, haven’t a clue. They’re just stabbing around in the dark and putting anything together on a fag packet that sounds like it could be mildly enticing to voters cos they essentially don’t really care as power is already assured for them.

Ridiculous that it’s taken them so long to trace his steps. Time is everything in these cases. Greek authorities about as useful as Portuguese ones it seems. Very sad this case. Which is why we should totally cheer ourselves up with a sweepstake on when his body will be recovered. If it’s anything like the Julian Sands case it could take months.

Had a close look at that footage. The plane disappears deep behind the trees but then impacts directly on the water and yet the humming continues after its exploded. No noise from the explosion itself. Looks like a fake stitched up clip to me.

Sorry, been very busy lately. Totally missed your post. Ann Innes Meo Born Herne Bay, Kent on 14th May 1920. Lived in Bloomsbury when she worked for the Beeb, married surname was Cansdale. Moved to France in 1987 according to the link you shared. Was still living there in 1996 when she was interviewed. Died in Bellême, France on 4th April 2020, just one month shy of 100. Death record here.

ITV news just confirmed that 23 D-Day veterans attended the event in Normandy today. The youngest was 96 and the oldest was 104. Still not seeing any reports speculating on total numbers, but by contrast the 75th anniversary in Normandy in 2019 was attended by 225 veterans.

Christian Lamb (wiki) visited Normandy today for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Was awarded the Legion d'honneur by Macron. 104 next month. Looked good when she spoke to the BBC at tea time but has notably deteriorated slightly in just 6 months.

I’ll also add to this most reality TV shows (TOWIE, Made in Chelsea, Love Island etc.) and unfunny U.S. sitcoms that require a laugh track to deceive the audience into thinking they’re funny (especially Friends).

Precisely. Don’t watch trash TV. My definition of that covering soaps, most gameshows, awkward dating programmes, anything with Gordon Ramsey, “talent” shows, Doctor Who (sorry to the diehard fan girls on here but the new episodes are cheesy and awfully written), hospital/A&E programmes, just about all of Channel 4, Strictly, staged “comedy” panel shows, and anything about fat people, dieting or weird Scottish doctors with their poo charts.

Got a BBC breaking news notification. Still, I’ve absolutely no idea who he is.

Really? Did they just wake up one day and never make films again? -
Whilst I’m here I’ll add that SNP minister Richard Lochhead is very ill. Complications of surgery.
